Stampin’ Up! Make a Difference Under the Sea

Mornin’, y’all1  Hope you’ve got a great weekend ahead of you!  Finny and I have some plans – we’re going to hit the Farmer’s Market and then he’s going to go to camp for a while so I can do some shopping!  When I called to make his reservation, I asked if there was room for Finn.  She asked my name – said they’ve got a few “Finn’s” who come.  When I told her my name, I also said – it’s the Aussie.  And SHE replied with “OH – I was hoping it was him – I just LOVE him!”  It’s a burden he bears with stoic dignity.

And a madly wiggling wriggler!

My card today is actually three cards.  I used the new Memories & More Small Notecards and Envelopes, the Make a Difference stamp set (which will be available to customers on 1 May in the Share What You Love early release) and … the octopus die from the Under The Sea Framelits.  Take a look-see:

I told you I was going to do it, y’all!  It was a moral imperative!  At least it was for me – a Trekkie from way back.  And I’m talking the real Trek – I’m Team Kirk all the way!

The layout for these cards is from this week’s TGIF Challenge Sketch.

So – in case you didn’t see my unveiling video the other night, there’s an octopus die in the new Under the Sea Framelits (avail on 1 June!) that happens to cut a perfect little United Federation of Planets (I’m a total geek!) emblem.

These are easy-peasy cards to make – it just takes a minute to cut 15 of the emblems from Gold Foil! 🙂

I made the card fronts in Command, Science and Security colors (aka Crushed Curry, Marina Mist and Real Red) – all matted on Basic Black.  Once everything was matted up, I used Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere lengths of Basic Black 3/8 Shimmer Ribbon around them.

Each of the Gold Foil emblems is adhered with Liquid Glue to a 1/2″ Basic Black circle that I punched with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and popped onto the card fronts with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

Each card got a different sentiment.  The Crushed Curry card – I see as a great card for a graduation – or a new job…

I made the front sentiment using the letters in the Make A Difference stamp set (you’re going to want this set – and you can get it on 1 May!) – I stamped the words in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White and snipped them out.  Then I edged them with my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker and added them with Liquid Glue.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from the In the Trees stamp set (2018 Occasions Catalog).  Then I used a cut-out of the emblem as a stencil and colored it with the Crushed Curry marker.  It’s outlined with my Journaling Pen!

For the Real Red card – I stamped a sentiment from the Host-exclusive Yay You in Tuxedo Black.  On the inside, I left it blank except for the Real Red emblem…

Finally – my personal favorite.  I used the letters in Make a Difference again, stamping the most iconic of Mr. Spock’s wise words.  After snipping them, I edged them with the Marina Mist Marker and adhered them.  On the inside, I stamped the sentiment from the Picture Perfect Birthday.

Each card front got some Silver star-shaped Metallic Enamel Shapes and the cards were done!

On the envelopes – I did three stenciled emblems on the fronts – all three envelopes are the same…

…and then the backs all got an emblem to match their card, as you saw above!

Et Voila!  A fun and easy pack of notecards for your favorite Trekkie – from totally-not-Star-Trek stamp sets and framelits!  I love the Make A Difference stamp set – its’ got the font you see plus a larger – much more ornate! – font set.  And I know I’ll be making an actual octopus – soon! – with the wonderful Under the Sea Framelits and it’s bundled Sea of Textures stamp set!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

I mowed for a while on Friday – it was a gorgeous day and…the grass was getting tall in the back.

And – I like riding the mower.  I was mostly in the shade.  I had a drink to keep me cool.

Very nice way to spend an hour!

Until.

The woof showed up.

It was very scary.  I was worried for the safety of the ponies.

You can understand my concern…

You can see Cady was almost beside herself with fear.

Must be very frustrating to not inspire any more concern in the herd-ees than he does… 😉
