Stampin’ Up! Hold on to Hope Happy Birthday for Stamp Ink Paper #144

Mornin’, my peeps!  Hope the week is moving along nicely for you!  I realized last night that OnStage is THIS weekend!  I don’t know when I thought 7 Apr was, but…apparently it’s THIS weekend!  And Brian King’s Spring Stamping Event is the day before that!! Yikes – I went from rolling smoothly along to behind-as-I-can-be! 😉  But it’s all good – cuz…it’s going to be AWESOME!!  And, I’m going to get my first peek at the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalog! Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-HOOOOO!!!

But – I’m getting ahead of myself!  Today, being Tuesday, is all about the new Stamp Ink Paper challenge.  We’ve got a theme this week – Happy Birthday!

I decided to showcase the versatility of the Hold On To Hope stamp set, so I combined it with the wonderful Happy Birthday Thinlit and a little Sheet Music.  Take a look-see:

Here’s the challenge badge and a link to Challenge #144 – hope you’ll come play along!

I also borrowed some inspiration from the CASE the Designer challenge at the Global Design Project!

Finally – I played along with The Paper Players’ Theme Challenge.

I started with a panel of Whisper White (a little larger than the finished size I needed) and the Sheet Music background stamp.  I inked the edges of the stamp with Marina Mist ink using a Sponge Dauber and stamped the panel.  Then I ran the panel thru the Big Shot in the Fluttering TIEF.  I cut it down to the size I needed – dry embossing sort of shrinks the card stock, so make it a smidge big and cut it down to size!  Finally, I used the same Sponge Dauber to sponge the edges.  Then I Fast Fuse’d it to a Daffodil Delight mat.

I cut three Happy Birthday Thinlit dies – two in Marina Mist and one in Daffodil Delight.  I adhered the card stock to a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet before cutting them out so it was easy to stack them all up.

I also cut two Whisper White branches with the die in the Petals & More Thinlits set.

I sort of intertwined the branches into the stacked sentiment and adhered the whole shootin’ match to the card front with Liquid Glue!

The butterflies are from the Hold On To Hope stamp set.  I stamped a few – okay, seven! – in Marina Mist on Whisper White and fussy cut them.  Then I colored them with my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker and added some shading around the edges with the Marina Mist Marker.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere them all in and around the sentiment.  Except for the little guy right on the “h” in Birthday – he’s popped on with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional!

I added a few Glitter Enamel Dots and the card front was done!

On the inside, I repeated the Sheet Music stamping and sponging in Marina Mist on a Whisper White panel and matted it on Daffodil Delight.  Then I made a smaller panel and stamped the sentiment from Hold On To Hope in Marina Mist.  Over the top, I added the flower spray in stamped-off-once Daffodil Delight.  Another butterfly and Glitter Enamel Dot finished it off.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Daffodil Delight mat and then adhered it to the first panel (offset to mirror the front), then I Fast Fuse’d it all into my Marina Mist card base.  I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another stamped-off-once Daffodil Delight Hold On To Hope flower spray and a few Marina Mist butterflies on the front…

And again on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  How cool is this Hold On To Hope set!?  Religious holiday.  Birthday.  Sympathy.  It can do them all!  And the Happy Birthday Thinlit is one of my very favorite things!!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Easter means differnet things to different folks.

Or…dogs.

Finn’s Easter meant hearing those coveted words….C’mon – let’s go see Scout!  He leapt from the seat of the golf cart (from a dead sleep) and made it to the door in record time!

Once we were at Scout’s house…the playing commenced.

They played…that would be Finn on top…

And they rough-housed…yep.  Finn on top again!  The “old days” when Scout could roll him are long past!

Then they went outside for a photo op – and a breather…(I know – kind of backwards)

Finn’s the one with the ginormous tongue lolling all the way out of his mouth!

And then they were off again!

So – he’d been to Doggie camp on Saturday and to Scout’s house on Sunday.

Pretty good weekend, I’d say.

But – it takes a toll, people!

The next morning, he got up and fairly staggered out the door to attend to business, checked to be sure Katy (the cat – not Cady the pony) wasn’t eating his breakfast (HE did not eat his breakfast – but he wanted to be sure SHE wasn’t either) and then he returned to his den for another couple hours of shut-eye!

Poor little exhausted man.

His life is so very hard. 😉

  1. I ain’t birthin’ no babies…oh, I mean, I ain’t fussy cutting no seven butterflies! You tired me out just reading about your wonderfully created masterpiece. Whoever receives this should do a happy dance. I swear that little man is the cutest one in the whole darn town…I really couldn’t swear 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

I really just couldn’t stop! They were really quick cuz they’re little – and I loved 4…so I figured 5…then 6…. And yes – he really is the cutest ever! 🙂 Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  2. Awesome card Mary! Love the layered die cuts and the music note background is so pretty! Poor Finn…he did have a rough weekend. 😉
