Stampin’ Up! Lovely Wishes on Brusho Textures

Happy Happy Friday!  It’s a Springy day here in GA – warmer again, with some rain coming but a good weekend ahead!  Finn-y and I may hit the Puppy Tubs tomorrow cuz…we’re headed up to Amy’s for a team meeting on Sunday!  He is so looking forward to eating lunch with the ladies and making a few projects! And he really likes to be looking his best for his fans! 🙂

My card today was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest, made by Anne Matasci – you can check out her beautiful card right here!

I went a very different color direction than Anne did, choosing greens and neutrals for a very organic look.  And I used the Lovely Wishes stamp set for my floral images.  Take a look-see:

And the reason I aimed for this color scheme is the The Card Concept challenge this week.

I started with a piece of Canson 90lb Cold-Pressed Watercolor paper to make my “tiles”.  With my Aqua Painter, I wet the paper pretty liberally.  Then I sprinkled it with the Moss Green powder in the Brusho set.  Using the Aqua Painter, I squished the color around to spread it and soften it.  Finally, I sprinkled some more of the Brusho on and left those “bursts” alone.  I carefully soaked up some extra water with the edge of a paper towel and let the panel dry naturally.

When the paper was dry, I cut it into 9 – 1 1/8″ x 1 3/8″ tiles.  Then I pulled out my Soft Suede ink pad and Timeless Textures stamp set.  I used the flourish image full strength on three tiles, then I stamped three more with the dots image and three more in the grid image in stamped-off-once ink.

I stamped various images from the Lovely Wishes stamp set on the tiles in Always Artichoke ink and filled in the leaves with my Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I built the card front with an Old Olive panel and adhered the tiles with Liquid Glue.  There’s a gap in the tiles under the ribbon and sentiment banner.

I Fast Fuse’d the card front to a Very Vanilla mat, then wrapped a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon around it all – covering the gap in the tiles – and securing it in the back with Fast Fuse.  I looped four strands of the burlap ribbon that I’d pulled out of another length and secured them to the card front – under the ribbon – with a couple of Glue Dots.

For the sentiment, I stamped the sentiment from Lovely Wishes in Soft Suede on a strip of Very Vanilla, edged it with my Old Olive Marker, and adhered it to the ribbon with Liquid Glue.

The embellishment is a Linen Thread double-loop Billie Moan bow (sorry – it had to be done!), a tiny bow from Very Vanilla Solid Baker’s Twine, a True Gentleman Button, and two Touches of Nature Elements leaves.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I simply stamped some more of the Lovely Wishes leaves and flowers in Always Artichoke on a Very Vanilla panel.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to an Old Olive and Very Vanilla mat and into my Soft Suede card base, Fast Fuse’d the front on as well, and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Lovely Wishes in Always Artichoke on the front…

…and on the back, straddling the edge of the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I’m still not very comfortable with the Brusho, but…I loved this technique with the small Lovely Wishes floral images and bits of Timeless Textures.  It turned out very organic and collage-y and…I hope you like it as much as I do!

Finn Fan Fix

Very early on, when Finn-y was just a young ‘un, I taught him a cardinal rule.

Never.  And I mean never ever ever – go in a horse stall.

Empty or otherwise.

Two reasons.

First?  Poop.  Horse poop.  Lots of it.  Which, in dog-land, is an all-you-can-eat buffet at the Golden Corral.

Ick.

That’s me, not him.

Second?  And even more importantly?  Horse.  Big ole horse who might be eating and might not take too kindly to a goofy dog lurking about in his bedroom.

So – that’s the rule.

Finn follows it pretty religiously.

Except…

No, Mom.  I was not in the stall vacuuming up Bo’s dropped feed.

I don’t know where this horse stall bedding all over my nose came from.

It depends on your definition of…”in“!

Now.  About that bite of carrot…

  1. Such a pretty card! Love the collage stamping and the inchie design. Perfect! And Finn is so busted…tell him that if he’s eating from the horse poop buffet on Sunday, he’s officially uninvited to the meeting! 😉 Ha…ewwww!!!

  2. That Finn! I have been dog-sitting with a Yorkie this week, and she is know to get in the cat litter box. Go figure!
Beautiful card. At first glance I wasn’t sure. On second glance, what’s NOT to like??? You did a masterful job of all the elements (all of which I love) AND you used my favorite GREENS! You also did well with the brushos. All in all, a gorgeous card, sure to be appreciated by the recipient.

    • Thanks, Julie! I don’t want to say that Finn never tries to get in the litter box. Cuz he so does. It’s a dog thing! 🙂

  3. Yuch! …to Finn’s nose…not your card…lol!! It is one of a kind and I absolutely love it. It’s a winner in my book. Gonna have to give this one a try. See you Sunday.

    • Yes, do give it a shot! Thanks, Karen! And – he looks upon that as just the cost of getting something tasty to eat! 😉 See you Sunday! 🙂

  4. Kate

    BUSTED!
    Beautiful card!

  5. Bernice P

This is a lovely card……like the natural look of it… Finn is adorable…. I have a dalmatian but no horses around here for her to get involved with….

Thank you for sharing this with us…

  6. Mary, I’m honored that you chose to CASE my design and I absolutely LOVE the results! You’ve inspired me. Thanks for acknowledging my original card. Aloha!

    • Oh – you’re so welcome!! I really loved your card – and hope I did it justice! Thanks so much for taking time to leave a comment!! 🙂

  7. Judy Hancock

Ok, I just have to laugh every time I read your Fin stories and your utterly fabulous way of telling them. You are a truly exceptional story-teller.

    • Oh that’s very sweet – would that it were truly true! I could be a rich author!! 😉 Thank you so very much for the kind words, Judy! 🙂

  8. Susan K

I love the collage and the colors. Beautiful CASE. Funny Finn. Trying to give his sweet and innocent look.

    • LOL – sweet? Yes. Innocent? Not so much! Little stinker. He knows I have no resistance to that look! Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂
