Stampin’ Up! Waterfront Easel Fun-Fold Card

Monday…Monday…hope you’re headed into your week with all well in your world!

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook live video, thank you so much for spending a bit of your weekend with me!  If not, but you’d like to see how to make today’s card, here’s the video over on YouTube!

I really enjoy these easel cards – and when I used the Waterfront stamp set and some wonderful Wood Textures DSP – well, it made me ever-so-happy!  What I love about these cards is how un-assuming they look (and they fit right in a regular envelope, too!).  Take a look-see:

See?  Looks completely normal.  But…open it up and…

Boom!  Drop-the-mic-cool, huh?  And – only you need to know how easy it was! 🙂

Now, the front was inspired by a pretty card I saw on Pinterest, made by Tina Zinck over at The Serene Stamper.  You can see it here!

I made the card front with a piece of Wood Textures DSP Fast Fuse’d to So Saffron and Always Artichoke mats (I love these two colors together!).  I stamped the Waterfront trees image a couple times in Always Artichoke.

For the art, I used the various images in the Waterfront set – mountains in Crumb Cake, ground in Always Artichoke, trees in Old Olive.  Then I added a sun in So Saffron – no need for masking, just stamp right over the trees!

I stamped the single word sentiment in Always Artichoke.  The large sentiment is cut with the Lovely Words Thinlits from Gold Foil and then snipped out and adhered with Liquid Glue.  I cut it with a Stitched Shapes Framelits oval and matted it on So Saffron and Always Artichoke cut with the Ovals Layering Framelits.

I added a doubled-length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon with a few Glue Dots, as well as a True Gentleman button and a bow tied with two lengths of twine I pulled from the Burlap Ribbon (you can see how to do that on the video!).  Then I popped the sentiment on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The card base is a piece of Early Espresso, 4 1/4″ x 11″.  Score it and fold at 5 1/2″ and 8 3/8″.  To create the easel, I used Liquid Glue to adhere just the bottom of the card front to the smaller panel.

For the inside, I made a full size inner liner and added another little Waterfront “scene”.  Then I made a smaller panel on which I added a Waterfront sentiment in Always Artichoke and some Old Olive trees (I did a little double-time stamping that you can see in the video).  Then I matted the panel on So Saffron and Always Artichoke and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals to be the “easel stop”!

I added another Tree Gentleman button and a bow with more of the twine from the Burlap Ribbon and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Waterfront images on the front…

…and another piece of Wood Textures DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  These easel cards are so easy to make – but they really make a statement!  And, boy-oh-boy!! – do I love the Waterfront stamp set!!  So many possibilities… and the trees…  THE TREES!!!  And the sun behind the trees!  Yes indeed-y-do!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

I sort of decided for today (Sunday) to enjoy being with the Man without looking at him thru the lens of the camera.

So – this FFF almost didn’t happen.

Then we were playing a little tug this evening and … this happened.

I accidentally thru the bone into the kitty tent.

He had to work pretty hard to retrieve it!

And that gave me enough time to wake the phone up and get to the camera!

He finally had to reach a hand in and scoop the bone out! 😉

  1. Oh, that snap of the Man is so precious. Were Katy or Leo in there? My guys are going to the Irish Pub today for Perry’s last fling before chemo and radiation. I have chosen to stay home and make this wonderful card. Wish me luck. I doubt that I will change a thing but you never know. Have a great week. Mine always starts better after I’ve been with you Sunday night.

    • That’s sweet, Karen, thank you so much! Nope – no kitties were trapped in the making of this picture! LOL! Hope Perry enjoys his last fling for a minute – and please wish him the best on this next round! 🙂

    Beautiful as the sneak promised!
So much for yesterday’s question about whether the tent in the corner belonged to the Finn? Certainly not ALL of him. LOL

  3. What a beautiful card Mary! Your layers are just perfect and I love the easel design. Perfect!! Thanks for sharing on how to create it on your video last night! 🙂

Mary you do a great job at showing how to do it step by step. Most of the time I am going back and forth trying to see how they did something. I never had to go back once to understand what you were doing. I’m so glad you made a mistake and showed how to fix it. It makes you more aware of what not to do.

  5. Kathy Fennell

Hey Mary! Happy Saturday to ya….. I just made this card for my husbands Uncle for Fathers Day. I have loved this card since you made and was waiting for the right person to make it for. Thanks for all the inspiration that you share with us all! 🙂

Oh yeah! I’m so happy that this inspired you and helped you make a card for Father’s Day! Thank YOU for the kind words, Kathy! 🙂
