Good mornin’, y’all – welcome to another edition of Amy’s Inkin’ Krew team blog hop! Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month it’s Birthdays!! We can interpret that any way we want – so…be sure to check and see everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!
I have a little friend (okay – I have a few more than just one friend – but most of them are all grown up!) who will be turning 4 this year. Her name is Scarlett. Scarlett is sweet and very much a girly-girl. I got her a really pretty dress with flowers and butterflies on it to send. For the card, I decided to go pink. And sparkly. And…girly! The new Magical Day stamp set – and the bundled Magical Mates Framelits seemed like just the ticket. Take a look-see:
I borrowed the layout from the this month’s Viva La Verve sketch challenge!
I started with a piece of unicorn-covered paper from the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP, matted on Powder Pink card stock, for the card front. Next up is some Flirty Flamingo card stock, embossed in the Oh My Stars TIEF and matted on Powder Pink. I Fast Fuse’d that to the card front.
For the vertical strip, I cut a piece of Irridescent Myths & Magic 6″ x 6″ Glimmer Paper. The lacey edge was punched with the Decorative Ribbon Border punch. Tip – cut a piece of card stock longer than you need. Punch several times and then adhere the whole thing with Liquid Glue to the back of the Glimmer Paper strip. Trim the excess off the ends with Snips!
I adhered that over the embossed panel.
Then I cut the largest circle Stitched Shapes Framelits in Whisper White and adhered it to a Powder Pink scalloped circle mat – cut with the largest scalloped die in the Circles Layering Framelits.
I inked up just the top of the sentiment from the Magical Day stamp set in Fresh Fig and, with my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, stamped it onto the Whisper White circle. After cleaning the stamp, I inked the “Magical” in Flirty Flamingo and stamped it on a piece of Whisper White, then cut it with the matching die in the Magical Mates Framelits. I used my Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Write Marker to edge the banner.
I turned the matted circle over and added Stampin’ Dimensionals to it – used them to wind loops of Silver Metallic Thread – and then popped it onto the card front.
I stamped the Magical Day unicorn in Basic Gray Archival Ink on Whisper White and colored him (her?) with my Dark and Light Pink Pirouette, Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blends. Then I cut the image with the matching die in Magical Mates.
The last element is a “4” – cut from a piece of the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP with a Large Numbers Framelits die. I adhered the unicorn, then the number, with Liquid Glue, and then popped the final sentiment banner on with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The finishing touch is a few Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes scattered here and there.
On the inside, I stamped Happy Birthday from the Perennial Birthday stamp set in Flirty Flamingo on a Whisper White panel. I surrounded it with stars from the Magical Day stamp set in Powder Pink. And – I added some more of the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes, too. Four-year old girly-girl, y’all – no such thing as too much bling! 😉
I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Powder Pink mat and into my Flirty Flamingo card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Magical Day unicorn and some Powder Pink stars on the front…
…and more Myths & Magic Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I do believe that these sparkly Magical Day unicorns and acknowledgment of her newly-advanced years and wisdom will be a hit with Miss Scarlett! And she’s going to love all the sparkle and glitter from the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP and Glimmer Paper!! Hope you like!
