Stampin’ Up! Hearts Come Home to a Wonderful Life

Happy Hawwmp Day, y’all!  Hope your week is going well!  I’ll be heading home this afternoon to begin the frantic packing for my trip on Sunday!  Yikes! 😉

My card today uses a couple of stamp sets from the Holiday catalog.  I used the Wonderful Life and Hearts Come Home sets together to make a pretty little Christmas card in some more non-traditional colors.  Take a look-see:

I used the sketch at the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge to help with the layout.

The not-so-Christmas-y color scheme comes from the My Favorite Things Color Challenge.

Finally, TGIF Challenges was looking for travel-themed cards, so…

I started with a piece of the Christmas Around the World DSP in Pool Party and Fast Fuse’d it to a Night of Navy mat for the card front.

The next layer is from the Year of Cheer Specialty DSP, layered on Night of Navy and added to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the art panel, I stamped the car from the Wonderful Life stamp set in Night of Navy on a Whisper White panel.  I added a banner in Smoky Slate and the Happy Christmas sentiment in Pool Party.  Then I lightly colored the car with my Pacific Point Watercolor Pencil.

I heat embossed the cute Christmas Tree in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and colored some “sky” with my Aqua Painter and Pool Party Ink.  Then I matted the panel on a Night of Navy panel.

For the presents, I stamped the Wonderful Life image in Smoky Slate on Whisper White and colored them in with my Powder Pink Stampin’ Write Marker, then fussy cut them.  I popped them on the roof of the car with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered the art panel to the card front with Liquid Glue and then wrapped a length of Powder Pink 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon around the whole thing, securing it in the back with Scotch Tape.

For the sentiment, I went to the Hearts Come Home stamp set.  That sentiment image is a stacked image – which I didn’t want.  So, I cut a strip of Whisper White and used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the three parts of the sentiment one at a time.  First I inked the word “Home” with the Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker and stamped it.  Then I stamped the other two parts of the phrase in Pool Party, using my Pool Party Stampin’ Write Marker to ink the stamp.

I cut a banner in one end of the strip with my Paper Snips and edged it with the Powder Pink Stampin’ Write Marker.

I added the banner to the card front with Liquid Glue  and added a Clear Faceted Gem and a silver star Metallic Enamel Shape and that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Hearts Come Home in Night of Navy on a Whisper White panel.  Across the bottom, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I added a row of Hearts Come Home houses in Smoky Slate.  I cheated a touch on the color challenge and colored some windows with my So Saffron Stampin’ Write Marker.  Cuz…it needs to look like everyone’s come home!

I added another silver star, Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Smoky Slate card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added some more Hearts Come Home houses in Smoky Slate and So Saffron…

…and gave the envelope flap a bit more of the Christmas Around the World DSP!

Et Voila!  Isn’t that Wonderful Life set so cute?  With the presents and the tree and all the sentiments?  And it has wedding sentiments, too!  Hearts Come Home – even without using the matching Hometown Greetings Edgelit Dies – says it all, don’t you think?  Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix

Finn’s a drinker.  A BIG drinker!

A WATER drinker!  Sheesh…what did you think??

The other day, I’d picked up the large pet fountain to give it a good cleaning and we set a bowl of water down – just so no one might have to spend 10 minutes a little thirsty.

Apparently Leo got a little thirsty and came to have a drink.

Finn immediately felt a powerful thirst – darned near parched, I suspect – and hurried over.

There’s some concern that the danged cat might drink every.  Last.  Drop.

And that it will never – ever EVER! – be filled up again.

It is – possibly – the last water on the planet…
