Stampin’ Up! Bundle of Love Celebrate Baby Card

Mornin’, y’all!  Hope your week is going well!

I have a friend who’s so close to giving birth to their second child that…I hope she’s quit working!  She and her husband are folks I work with and they’re both smart as can be and sweet kids on top of that.  I’ve been sending their little boy a birthday present and card for all his 2 years and I’ll do the same with this little one. And this one’s a girl!!

Don’t get me wrong – there’s absolutely nothing wrong with baby boys.  They’re just as darling as baby girls.

But – come on.  Admit it!  The clothes for little girl humans are sooooo much cuter!

You know I’m right!!

So.  I decided I needed to get on the stick and make a card for the big event.  I bought some clothes to send and then I had a brain storm.   I’ll share it when it’s time.

My card starts with the really wonderful cards and decorations in the new Bundle of Love Card Pack – part of the new Memories & More goodies.  I added in a few images and sentiments from the A Little Wild stamp set and…Tabs for Everything.  Take a look-see (sorry for the shadow!):

Now – this one’ll take a minute to describe.  There’s a lot of moving parts.  This, folks, is what happens when I can’t decide what to do on a card, so I just start making.  And then I add a little of this.

And a little of that.

And then I have an epiphany.

I was fairly out of control – but I’m so darned tickled with this card…I can hardly tell you!  Have another look:

Oh oh – wait.  One more look.

Yea. It’s that cute.  😉

The thing that got me started on this card was when I saw the acetate overlay in the Bundle of Love Card Pack with one of my favorite children’s verses on it.  “I’ll love you forever…I’ll like you for always…as long as I’m living…my baby you’ll be.”  That was the start.

I decided to make a window card using that acetate over another of the cards in the pack.

And then I had the epiphany.  What if I made a pull out card, with two sides, that they could use as a starting-off point for a scrap book of their own?

I went right online and bought them a group of goodies from SU! to send to get them started – and this card will go right in the box and be perfect!

The card front is a piece of printed card from Bundle of Love, matted on Blushing Bride card stock.  Then I made the “window”.

I used a piece of gold-foil embossed paper (from the Bundle of Love Specialty DSP) and cut a scalloped oval in it with an Oval Layering Framelits die.  The inside of the window – with the little elephant and pig – is yet another of the designs in the card pack (this one is absolutely chock full of fun things to use in scrap books or on cards, folks!).  Using the A Little Wild stamp set, I stamped a sentiment in the middle in Sahara Sand ink, then I surrounded it with some bees in Basic Black Archival Ink.  I colored them in with my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker.

I SNAILd that panel onto a Blushing Bride mat and then I used Foam Adhesive Strips to pop my window panel over the top.  Then I used SNAIL to adhere the window to the card front.

My pull-out (meant to go into their new scrap book!) is made with three elements from the card pack.  There are two cards (one of them had journal lines and the other has the Blushing Bride and Sahara Sand sprinkles on it) – that I adhered together with SNAIL.  I stamped a sentiment from Tabs For Everything in Sahara Sand and a couple of little flowers from A Little Wild on the “journal” side, coloring them with Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz Markers.

Then I added the acetate piece over the side of the card with just the sprinkles – using just a bare touch of Liquid Glue behind the printed parts of the panel.  I made a quick and easy tab using the Tabs For Everything bundle (with the Tabs For Everything stamp set and the new Circle Tabs Punch).  I punched out a tab from Very Vanilla card stock, then stamped the heart in Blushing Bride, with a Sahara Sand circle around it.   I used Liquid Glue to adhere it around the top edge of the card – and it was done!

I added a bow tied with Powder Pink 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon – adhering it with a Glue Dot – and the card front was done!

On the inside Very Vanilla panel – I added a sentiment from Tabs For Everything in Sahara Sand.  Then I marched some little flowers from A Little Wild across the bottom in Basic Black Archival Ink – coloring them with Daffodil Delight, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz Markers.  And then – I just couldn’t stop!! – I even added some Pear Pizzazz grass.  That darned A Little Wild just has too many cute pieces and parts!

As you can see – I didn’t even stop there.  I stamped “happy” from the Tabs For Everything set in Sahara Sand above the flowers, too.  Yea yea – I also put a Pearl Basic Jewel in the middle of each flower.  THEN I was done.  So I SNAILd the panel to a Blushing Bride mat and into my Sahara Sand card base, SNAILd the card front on, too, and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope was treated to more of the flowers and grass from A Little Wild, plus some “happy”‘s from Tabs For Everything across the front…

…and another of the sweet cards from the Bundle of Love set on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Now.  Do not be afraid.  It looks like a lot of work.  But – you have to remember that a lot of it came straight out of the new Bundle of Love Card Pack.  If you have any thought that you might need a baby card (boy or girl – both are covered in the pack) – anytime – please just go right now and order this card pack.  It’s just wonderful!  And the A Little Wild stamp set – heck I didn’t even show you the cute Framelits that go with (another time) – is adorable.  Tabs For Everything – this one’s a sleeper, I think.  Lots more versatile than it appears at first blush – whoda thunk it would have a pretty strong supporting role in a baby card?!?

This is also a pretty thick card – as you might imagine.  But – it’s going to be perfect when it’s included in a gift box.  I just love it!  And – I hope you like!

    I. just. love. this!!!! So perfect, so special. This little girl is bound to grow up knowing she is loved! I don’t know what I like best about it, but, I think, the pull-out part with that wonderful sentiment. However, there are so many wonderful things about it, I really think you hit this one WAY out of the park!

    Wow!
    Stunning card!
Maybe you will demo this one
On a Sunday evening soon? Or one in blue so it’s not a total duplicate?
Great card! Can’t wait to attempt something similar.
    Have a good week.

    • I might – there’s only one of the acetates in the card pack – but I could make it without it. Thanks much, Paula! 🙂

      • juliejphoto

Hey, Mary, Paula has a great idea. You can make your own acetate. Print the verse on acetate on the computer. If your printer won’t do it, take it to a Staples or something where they can laser print it. (Take your acetate in case they don’t have any!)

      • I’ll have to give that a shot! 🙂
