Stampin’ Up! Eastern Palace Gate for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We’ve got a pretty trio of colors to play with this week and I’m sure our ladies have made some beautiful projects for you, so be sure to hop thru all their blogs when you get done here! 🙂

Our color scheme…

…made me decide to go Eastern.  Eastern Palace, that is!  And since I’m on a bit of an Embossing Paste kick, I added in some of that, too.  And made it into a fun gate-fold card while I was at it!  Take a look-see:

I started with a Dapper Denim card base – it’s 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ – scored and folded at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″ along the long side.  On the two front “gate” panels, I matted two pieces of the Gold Foil design paper from the Eastern Palace Specialty DSP on Gold Foil.  Then I SNAILd the two panels onto the card base.

My front medallion started with one of the masks in the new Party Patterns masks and some Embossing Paste – colored with a few dots of Tranquil Tide Re-inker.  I mixed the paste on a piece of card backer paper from a DSP pack, using one of the new Palette Knives.  Then I lightly smeared the colored paste across the mask, which I’d secured over some Very Vanilla card stock with Sticky Notes.  You have a few minutes to work – but…not forever.  It dries pretty quickly.  You’ll also want to wash your palette knife off right away with water.

I lifted the mask up and, when it was completely dry, ran it thru the Big Shot, cutting it with a smooth circle die from the Circles Layering Framelits.

My Gold Foil “doily” is cut with the large die from the Eastern Medallions Thinlits.  I first cut that shape and then cut the shape out with a scallop circle from the Circles Layering Framelits.  While I had that scalloped die out, I cut a Very Vanilla circle – and adhered the Gold Foil “doily” to it with Liquid Glue.  Then I added the Tranquil Tide-embossed circle over that.

I used a sentiment from Eastern Beauty and stamped it in Tranquil Tide on some Very Vanilla card stock and punched it with the Classic Label Punch.  It’s matted on a second Classic Label Punch shape – that one’s in Gold Foil – I adhered it with Liquid Glue, offsetting the mat a little.  Then I popped the sentiment over the circle.

Using Liquid Glue only on the left side of the back of the circle, I adhered it to the left “gate” of the card.  Then I added two Dapper Denim dots from the Glitter Enamel Dots pack and that was it for the outside of the card.

On the inside, I took a piece of Very Vanilla and cut the large die and one “center” die from the Eastern Medallions Thinlits from the center.  I added two sentiments from Eastern Beauty in Tranquil Tide.

I matted the cut panel on a piece of Gold Foil and then SNAILd it into the center of the card – and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a couple of stamped images from Eastern Beauty in Tranquil Tide and Dapper Denim on the front.  You can see I stamped the Dapper Denim star twice – turning it just a bit for the second stamp and not re-inking it…

…and I added a little more of the Gold Foil paper from the Eastern Palace Specialty DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Eastern Palace comes thru for a beautiful, fun gate-fold card!  Love the touches of gold with the Dapper Denim and Tranquil Tide – this paper is just so pretty, don’t you think?  We may do this card or a similar one on Sunday night on my Facebook video!  Hope you like!

  1. Well, ma’m, you went all out on this one…LOVE it! It’s amazing what you can do from your hotel room. I didn’t get out any supplies yesterday or last night but probably will today. We’ll hit a couple of 3 vineyards today and meet some old and new friends…plus Pearl (the resident Cavalier King Charles Spaniel at Hanover Park Vineyard). I probably won’t be able to catch you live Sunday, but if my brother is watching a sports program, I just might 🙂

    • LOL – yes, my hotel room is working out quite nicely as a stamping area!! Have fun today – give Pearl a pet – and enjoy your trip! Thanks so much, Karen! 🙂

  2. Very pretty Mary! Love the embossing paste, great use of that Dapper Denim/Gold Foil paper too! 🙂

  3. Elisha

Wow! Amazing card! I had no idea you can run the embossing paste through the Big Shot – I thought that would cause it to crack – hmmmm – I may have to give it a try after all! Thanks for the inspiration!

    • Well – I wasn’t sure, either. Just figured I’d give it a shot! Might not work for a die that’s right over the top of the dry embossed paste. Thanks so much, Elisha!

  4. Kathleen VanDeVeere

Very interesting…like the double door entry and the vertical stripe.

Love this! Great colors and you did them well. This would be a great one for your video. Thanks for sharing your talents. Hope your first week is going well.

  6. Not bad for a hotel room creation!!! Love it. The embossing paste is wonderful.
