Stampin’ Up! Eastern Dahlia Wedding Card

Happy Hawmp Day, y’all!  I’ll tell you what – I’m ready for this week to be done.  Work has been a total PITA.  The “real” job – not this one!  I’m ready to not have to think about it for a couple of days.

Or years.

Or…ever!

But…it’s still supporting my SU! habit, so…. you know.  Gotta keep doing it.

So – my card for today is a wedding card.  I made it using a new-to-me stamp called Definitely Dahlia – which is a single stamp with the most gorgeous flower image.  I added a little bit of Eastern Beauty (avail 1 June), some Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers (also 1 June), a little Sunshine Wishes Thinlit action and a sentiment from Floral Phrases  Yep, I was all over the place in my stash!  Take a look-see:

The layout of for my card is from the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge this week.

And the wedding theme is from Stamp Ink Paper.

I started with a piece of Tranquil Tide paper from the new Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack (1 June) that I matted on a piece of Tranquil Tide card stock (1 June).  Over that I adhered a Tea Lace Paper Doily with some Liquid Glue.

I also used a couple of Glue Dots – on the doily – to wrap some loops of Gold Metallic Thread.

The center panel started with a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I inked up my new Definitely Dahlia stamp with Versamark and stamped the panel, then sprinkled the image with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I heat embossed the flower and matted the panel on a Tranquil Tide mat.

For the sentiment, I used a die cut from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits set.  I cut the die three times from Tranquil Tide and then adhered them all together in a stack with Liquid Glue.

The second part of the sentiment is from Eastern Beauty.  It’s a curved stamp – but I straightened it out when I stuck it to the acrylic block.  I inked just the words “is beautiful” in Versamark and stamped the panel.  Then I sprinkled it with more Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  I added the die cut “love” with Liquid Glue and the card front was done! 🙂

On the inside, I pulled a sentiment that seemed to fit perfectly from the Floral Phrases stamp set and added it in Tranquil Tide ink to a Whisper White panel.  Across the bottom of the panel, I adhered an Eastern Gold Vinyl Sticker.

I SNAILd the panel to a Tranquil Tide mat and into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another of the Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers across the front…

…and a little more of the Fresh Florals DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I’ve had my eye on that Definitely Dahlia stamp for a long time (if it wasn’t clear, I only used about half of the image – it’s big, bold and beautiful!!) – I have no idea why I waited so long to add it to the stamp shelf!  I’m also liking the new designs in the Fresh Florals DSP Stack!  Hope you like! 🙂

Don’t forget to check out the Clearance Rack – SU! has been adding more goodies – some up to 60% off!!  Heck – that’s practically free! 😉

Finn-Fan Fix…

Well, I caught him.

Mostly cuz he was sleeping.

Sleeping in the “do you have any idea what your dog is doing and why?” position.

What position is that, you say?

Well….

Maybe there was a bug.

Crawling on the floor behind the chair.  Or on the cat scratching toy.  Or on the hearth.

And…he fell asleep mid-pursuit.

Bug pursuit.

The struggle is real.

  1. Again, another beauty. Cant’s wait to get my hands on that ink, paper and suite! Finn is getting his handsome sleep. I hear ya about the job…retirement has been wonderful…much less stress.

    • I’m getting close to pulling the trigger, Karen. I need this darned SU! obsession to become self-sustaining and then….I’m out! Thanks so much – can’t wait to see what you create when you get your hands on this bundle! 🙂

Mary, you specialize in creating lovely ensembles …. everything coordinating so beautifully. Gives your projects that extra special touch! I’m whispering as I write this so that I don’t wake up Finn from his nap! Bug chasing can be so tiring! LOL

    • Thank you so much, Rita! And thank you for whispering. He needs his sleep. Also, it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie…. 😉

  3. Mary, your gold Dahlia is really stunning! Beautiful wedding card!

    • Thank you so much, Jari! The Tranquil Tide is a bit non-standard for a wedding, but…it’s too pretty not to use! 🙂

One gorgeous card, Mary. Dahlia stamp has lots of possibilities, and I sure like this one!
All that growin’ takes a lot of sleepin’. Pursuing can wait; the growing goes on night and day in spite of himself. 😃

    • Yes, it’s a gorgeous image – especially in the gold. And it’s big enough it could be the only thing on a card and do just fine!! I’m hoping his growing is slowing down…!! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  5. What a beautiful card Mary! I love the color scheme and your embossed flower looks amazing! Finn is too funny, hope that he caught whatever he was after when he woke up! 🙂

  6. Elisha

Such a beautiful card, Mary! I love the gold with the tranquil tide! I don’t have that dahlia – yet – I think I need it though lol! My Eastern Palace mega bundle arrives Friday – can’t wait! Finn is just too funny – wish I could fall asleep that easily – guess I’d better find a pond to race around – maybe that’s his secret😂

    • He does tend to go from 0 to 100 to 0 to 100….a lot! I need to do that myself! Well – I’m already pretty good at the 0 part…. 🙂 Thanks Elisha – and do grab up the Dahlia!! It’s a gorgeous flower image! 🙂
