Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Happy Birthday Thinlit Sneak Peek

Mornin’, y’all!  How goes your week?  We’re rushing towards Wednesday – my hubby is having some surgery that day (tomorrow!!) and I’m trying to get everything done and ready.  Busy days ahead, heh?

One of the new products in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog is the Happy Birthday Thinlit (which coordinates and is bundled with the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set).  Just a single, bold and beautiful die…All you have to do is add a little color.  Take a look-see:

I just love this font – it’s very much like the pretty a la carte stamp set called Stylized Birthday, which is one of my favorites!

I played along with three challenges on this one.  The first, from TGIF Challenges, inspired the layout.

And my color palette is from the Just Us Girls challenge.

Finally – the Global Design Project is a theme challenge, and this card works perfectly for that one, too!

I started with some Canson 90lb Cold-Press Watercolor Paper for my card front.  Using my Watercolor Pencils, I added some Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral.  I let the colors overlap – and added some Daffodil Delight to the Calypso Coral to make it a little peachier!

Once I had a lot of color laid down, I used my Aqua Pen to blur my scribbled lines and blend the color some.  Then I let it dry completely.

My sentiment is from the Happy Birthday Thinlit – cut once in Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and once in Melon Mambo card stock.  When the card front was completely dry, I used Liquid Glue to add the Melon Mambo die cut, then I added the Dazzling Diamonds cut over the top – offsetting it a little for a shadow effect,

I SNAILd the panel to a Melon Mambo mat, added a few Daffodil Delight Enamel Shapes and the card front was done!

For the inner liner, I pulled out the new Lovely Laurels Thinlits (also available 1 June) and cut the little flourish dies from the corners of a Whisper White panel.

I SNAILd the panel to a piece of Melon Mambo card stock and into my Peekaboo Peach card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I cut the two little flourishes again – this time from Melon Mambo card stock – and used Liquid Glue to adhere the little cut out pieces to the front…

…and on the envelope flap, I used the pieces of card stock with the negatives of the little flourishes as stencils to sponge a little design in Peekaboo Peach and Daffodil Delight.

Et Voila!  Super quick, super easy, super pretty!  A trifecta!!!  Hope you like – and will be adding this Happy Birthday Thinlit to your wish list!

Finn-Fan Fix…

One piece of getting ready for surgery-day is making sure all the animals are accounted for and taken care of (to my satisfaction!).  In a shining example of “timing is everything” – all the folks who would normally feed the horses and take Finn for the day are out of town.

The hospital is close enough I can feed the horses.

But I was hating the thought of Finn being in his kennel all day – and we’re not sure when we’ll get home tomorrow.

So – he’s going to Doggie Summer Camp!  I got a super recommendation for a spot and we took him yesterday for a visit and…well…an interview!!

It’s the No Place Like Home Kennel – and…it’s awesome!  The dogs are allowed to play with each other (if they’re well behaved – CHECK!) and play in the pond (if their parents let them – DOUBLE CHECK) and they take them for long runs in their huge fenced pasture (CHECK CHECK and CHECK)!!

During the interview (which – as I know you’ve guessed, he passed with flying colors! 😎) he met Ryder – a young Aussie-cross boarder.

And they played….

…and they played.  Until Finn just stopped to pant.  And grin!

They have a young lady dog coming today that likes to leap off the dock and swim.  I suspect Finny will be in love.  And wet!

It’s an awesome-good spot and I know he’s going to have a great time!

Heck – I hope he even wants to come home when we pick him up!!

  1. Wish we lived nearby to help you out…not with Finn or the horses nor with the cats (who are very independent) but to cook for you 🙂 So glad you’ve got everything under control because you DO need to keep torturing us with what we can’t get til June 1 😉 Praying for successful surgery and quick healing for Wayne and stamina for you.

    • Thank you so much, Karen – that means the world to me!! Appreciate the prayers. And – I WILL keep torturing y’all!! 🙂

Great card! I am surprised that I like that color combo!
Prayers for you both. Some days are tough.
Finn is in for a great time and won’t even know he misses you until you go to get him. No matter how much fun he has he will be excited to see you.
    Hugs.

  3. Fantastic card Mary! Love your clean design. Hope that all goes perfectly with surgery! Glad that you’ve Finn all set up at doggy day camp so that he can have a blast running and playing while you’re gone. 🙂

Oh I love this new die – it will make for quick and easy cards. I love the way you doubled it up and the sweet details you added – well done! So sorry for Wayne – hope all goes well! If we lived closer to you – we would help out with the critters – my daughter LOVES horses (has a degree in Equine Health) and we both love dogs – so glad you found a suitable resort for Finn – he’s gonna have a blast! Prayers!

    • Yep – it’s gorgeous! And big enough to stand all by itself! Thanks so much – cool that your daughter has her degree in horses!! Appreciate the prayers, Elisha. 🙂

Mary, I love that you go “all out” in your card designs … even decorating the insides of the cards and the envelopes. Thank you for so much lovely inspiration!! How nice that you’ve found a happy place for Finn to visit tomorrow! I just stopped to pray for you and your hubby after learning that he has surgery scheduled. Here’s a scripture of encouragement …. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1”

    • Thank you so much, Rita – for the sweet words about my cards and the scripture and prayer! I appreciate it very much! 🙂

  7. Beautifully done, Mary! I love the colors you created with the pencils and water. Great card! Praying all goes well for Wayne!
