Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Falling May Flowers

Mornin’, y’all!  It’s Tuesday!  Hope your week is going well!  Being Tuesday, I’ve got a couple of updates from Stampin’ Up! that I’ve added down below.  Be sure to check them out, okay?

So – as you’re aware, I’ve been trying to train Finn-Chewie.  I don’t want an “obedience ring” dog.  Nope.  I just want a dog who will come back to me when I call him, drop stuff if I tell him to – or leave it alone to begin with, and go with me like a sane being when I want to take him somewhere.

Oh – and I’d like to do some agility with him.

And have him be a therapy dog – I’d love to take him to hospitals and nursing homes.

So….obedience is a pretty critical step in becoming a good citizen.

We do a lot of Come-Click-Treat (CCT).  I call his name and say “come”.  If it’s a good CCT, Finn hits the brakes, spins around and returns on the fly to the golf cart.  As soon as his wiggle-butt hits the ground, I click the clicker and then give him a tiny milk bone.

He loves him some tiny milk bones!  And he does know what “come” means…just sometimes…he doesn’t want to!

But  – we’re working on it – repetition repetition repetition!  One day…ONE day…the conditioning will overcome the “don’t want to”!

She says with hope in her voice! 🙂

So, my card for today is an any-occasion card, using the pretty Falling Flowers bundle from the Annual Catalog and a couple sentiments from the Thoughtful Banners set.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this card is from The Paper Players challenge this week.

And my color scheme is from the MFT Color Challenge.

I started with a piece of the Irresistibly Floral DSP and sponged it with Island Indigo, Mint Macaron and a touch of Basic Gray Archival Ink between the two colors.  Then I used two new Lace Doilies and adhered them to the paper with a little Liquid Glue, letting them go off the edges.  I trimmed the excess with my Paper Snips and then SNAILd the panel to a Basic Gray mat.

Then it was time to make the flowers!  I cut a large flower using the May Flower Framelit from a piece of Marina Mist card stock, then I adhered it to a piece of Island Indigo card stock and trimmed off the excess with my snips.

I cut two of the smaller flowers, one from Island Indigo and one from Marina Mist.  I adhered the Island Indigo flower to a piece of Pacific Point and the Marina Mist to Island Indigo, and then cut them out as well.  The last flower is a stamped and colored flower – I stamped it in Pacific Point on Whisper White and then used my Pacific Point Watercolor Pencil and a Blender Pen to add some shading.  I fussy cut that flower.

I also stamped two of the Falling Flowers leaves images in Mint Macaron and colored them with a Blender Pen, then used the matching die in the May Flowers Framelits.

First I added the leaves over the doilies and then I adhered the large flowers and the Marina Mist/Island Indigo flowers – all with Liquid Glue.  The Island Indigo/Pacific Point flower and the stamped flower are both popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My sentiment banner – I got this idea from a card I saw in the Annual Catalog – is a strip of Whisper White with banner ends cut on both sides with my snips.  I added the sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set in Basic Gray Archival Ink.  Then I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals at either end and Liquid Glue in the middle to adhere it over the flowers.

I tied a little bow with two lengths of Whisper White Thick Baker’s Twine and adhered it to the flower with a little Liquid Glue.  Then I added an Island Indigo and Marina Mist Enamel Shape to a couple of the flowers and the card front was done! 🙂

On the inside, I stamped two more words from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set in Basic Gray Archival Ink on a Whisper White mat.  In the corner, I stamped a few more of the small flowers from the Falling Flowers set in Island Indigo – all the images are stamped off – one is stamped off twice, one three times and the third was stamped off four times.

I SNAILd the panel to a Basic Gray mat and into my Mint Macaron card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a repeat of the Falling Flowers images in Island Indigo on the front…

…and for the envelope flap, I sponged some more of the Irresistibly Floral DSP with Island Indigo and Mint Macaron.

Et Voila!  This is my first time using this pretty bundle, and I really like it.  The flowers are very pretty and the stamp set has several options for adding floral prettiness – including a quite large flourish image!  I hope you like – and will consider adding the bundle to your stash! 🙂

Persistence and Pavlov will out! Maybe Dudley would be a good handle for a pooch we want to do right. Never thought of it.

Oh-my-gosh, I love this card. The three “blues” are beautiful together and the Thoughtful Banners sentiment looks great in Basic Grey. I am going to CASE this for an ill auntie. Thanks, Mary! – Ellie
