Hey, y’all! Hope your weekend is going well. We’re back to cold-ish. Not as bad as it was a few weeks ago, but…cold for us. I suppose it’s only to be expected! Being January and all.
Finn LOVES the cold! We have a hard time getting him to come in – we’ll look out and he’s chilling on the golf cart seat! With the wind blowing his fur. Goofball.
Saturday, though, when he was inside, he was defnitely wanting some lap time. Every time I looked up, he was standing by the chair giving me…the look. So we did a lot of cuddling!
I pulled his collars off to give his little neck a break – they get itchy, you know! He loves to chew chains. Have I told you that? No? Well – he does. We do not know why. So I’ll hand him his martingale collar – which is part chain and part nylon strap. And he carries it around and lays down and chews it.
And brings it with him to my lap!
My card for today uses one of my very favorite-est bundles in the Occasions catalog – the Special Reason bundle. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that this one carries over. Y’all cross everything, too, okay? For this card, I used just the Special Reason stamp set and the coordinating Stylish Stems Framelits. And I pulled in some This Christmas DSP. Take a look-see:
This little baby played along with three challenges. The first is a sketch challenge from CAS(E) This Sketch:
The color scheme came from the Color Throwdown challenge this week.
And, finally, the CASual Friday challenge…
I started with one of my favorite pieces of designer paper – the sheet music from the Annual Catalog This Christmas DSP. To make the diagonal element of the sketch, I ran a line of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue around the bottom of my paper and adhered a piece of Very Vanilla on an angle. Then I just trimmed the excess! I lightly sponged the edges of the panel with Sweet Sugarplum and adhered it to a Sweet Sugarplum mat.
Across the seam, I ran a length of Mint Macaron 3/8″ Sheer Linen Ribbon, securing it in the back with scotch tape. Then I popped the whole thing over a Mint Macaron mat with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I made my flowers by stamping Very Vanilla card stock with the images in the Special Reason stamp set. I make a large Soft Sky flower, a large stamped-off-once Sweet Sugarplum flower and a small full-strength Sweet Sugarplum flower. I also stamped two stamped-off-once Mint Macaron leaves. Then I cut them all out with the appropriate die in the Stylish Stems Framelits. These are the dies that cut fully around the stamped images.
Then I used the detailed framelits to cut matching detailed flowers from Sweet Sugarplum, Soft Sky and Mint Macaron card stock. I used Liquid Glue to adhere each detailed flower over its matching stamped flower.
The sentiment, from Special Reason, is stamped in Sweet Sugarplum on a Very Vanilla strip, that I bannerized on one end with my Paper Snips. I edged the banner with my Mint Macaron Stampin’ Write Marker. Then I used some Liquid Glue and adhered the banner to the the back of my small Sweet Sugarplum flower.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere all but the small flower and banner to the card front. For that, I popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On the inside, I stamped another Special Reason sentiment in Sweet Sugarplum on a Very Vanilla panel. Over the top of that, I stamped a small Soft Sky flower. Using a sticky note mask, I added two stamped-off-once Mint Macaron leaves. Then I lightly sponged the edges of the panel with Sweet Sugarplum.
My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Soft Sky flower and Mint Macaron (stamped off once) leaves on the front…
Et Voila! Special Reason and the Stylish Stems Framelits – what a wonderful flower set! I know we have a lot of flowers in our catalogs – but…these are really some of the prettiest and most versatile, I think! Hope you like!
