Good morning, y’all! It’s Monday – but…no work today! Whoo-hoo!
Before I get going – I need to fix a mistake I made yesterday. On the sympathy card, the inside sentiment is from Flourishing Phrases – I erroneously told you it was from Thoughts & Prayers. I’ve updated the post accordingly, but wanted to let you know! 🙂
I’m changing Finn’s name. Or…I’ve giving him a “formal” registered name. It’s “Finn Don’t…Good Dog”
Finn don’t get the cat food. Good Dog
Finn don’t bother the cat. Good Dog
Finn don’t eat horse poop. Good Dog
Finn don’t bite me. Good Dog
Finn don’t….Finn don’t…Finn don’t. Good dog! 😉
He tries to get the “good dog” piece to come first – or even only! – but…it’s hard. Really really hard!
My card for today is a No Special Reason card. One that could go to someone just because it’s…Monday! It uses the Special Reason bundle – which is really cool.
I love how the bundled Stylish Stems Framelits work on this one – you can cut detailed “negative” spaces – and you can also cut those negative spaces out using a second die. I’ve done that in this card, so you’ll get to see that. I combined the set with some Real Red and White paper from the Sending Love DSP. Take a look-see:
I got my layout idea from the Sunday Stamps sketch challenge this week.
And my color palette come from The Paper Players challenge.
Now – I’m going to show you a picture of the card that I’ve deliberately “messed” with to make it possible for you to see some detail on the card front that’s hard to see otherwise. Be aware – this highlights every single imperfection – which you can’t see unless you enlarge the card and shine a really bright spotlight on it – which most folks won’t do!
See the leaf shapes on the Basic Black part? Okay – now…moving on.
I started with a piece of Basic Black card stock and I cut the Stylish Stems detailed flowers from it in the Big Shot.
Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I heat embossed a sentiment from Special Reason in white – first stamping it in Versamark ink, sprinkling it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heating it with my Heat Tool.
Then I cut several large and small Basic Black leaves with the Stylish Stems Framelits and used tiny dots of Liquid Glue to adhere them around the card front.
I SNAILd a Whisper White panel to the front of my Basic Black card base, then SNAILd a piece of the new Sending Love DSP over that. Finally, I popped the card front over the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used more dimensionals that I normally would, being sure I had plenty of them between the cut out flowers to support them. And that was it for the card front! 🙂
On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp a second sentiment from Special Reason in Basic Black Archival Ink in the center of a Whisper White panel. Next I cut the outline of the smaller Stylish Stem flower in the corner and also cut the detailed flower, from a piece of scrap Basic Black card stock. This is where I “cut the negative space” – first I cut the detailed flower, then I used the outline die to cut out the negative space. Very cool die set!
Then I SNAILd the panel to a piece of Sending Love DSP and used Liquid Glue to adhere the Basic Black flower into the cut out space.
I SNAILd the panel to another Whisper White mat and into the Basic Black card base, and the card was done!
For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I stamped several smaller flowers from the Special Reason stamp set in Real Red across the front…
…and added more of the Sending Love DSP to the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I love the bright pops of Real Red against the Basic Black, and the tone-on-tone texture of the die cut leaves on the card front! And – this Special Reason bundle could be one of my very favorites in the Occasions Catalog. Hope you like!
