Happy Sunday-after-the-great-SNOW EVENT-of 2017!  I know it’s hard in a blog – but….do you sense the sarcasm!?  We were all battened down.

23 loaves of bread – CHECK

10 gallons of milk – CHECK

Bathtub filled with water – CHECK

Meals-Ready-to-Eat On Hand – CHECK

Rifle loaded and at the ready in case the zombies showed up with the blizzard – CHECK

Camera ready to record Finn’s First Snow – CHECK CHECK and CHECK!

And…what did we get?

ice-covered-trees-jan-2017
Yep.  Ice covered trees.  And well-digger-lunch-bucket cold!  And some wind – just to make the well-digger even colder.

Not a trace of snow anywhere!  So…no pictures of Finn boinking around in the snow! 🙁

Sorry, y’all!  You’re just going to have to make do with a card share!

For which, I used the fun Balloon Adventures stamp set and the bundled Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits.  And…a couple of surprise visitors from the Hey, Chick stamp set in the Sale-A-Bration flyer.  Take a look-see:

I started by taking a quick look at the Stampin’ Up! video on using this thinlit set.  When we get done, I’ll give you a link to it – it’s quite handy!

First off, I SNAILd a piece of the new Party Animal DSP to a piece of Emerald Envy card stock for the card front.  My sentiment, from Balloon Adventures, is stamped in Dapper Denim on Whisper White.  I added a couple of party streamer images in Crushed Curry, and then SNAILd the panel to an Emerald Envy mat.

For my little party crashers, I stamped the crazy hair chicken from Hey, Chick in Crushed Curry on some scrap Whisper White and fussy cut them.  Using the Pacific Point pencil in the Watercolor Pencils, I lightly colored their hair and tail feathers.  Then I sort of blurred the color (and pulled some Crushed Curry color in to create a streaky green!) with my Blender Pen.

I stuck them to the back of the sentiment panel with some Liquid Glue and then used more Glue to adhere the whole panel to the card front.  And gave them some party hats from the Party Animal Embellishments using a couple of Glue Dots.

And then I went inside!  I used a piece of Whisper White, scored in the middle, and ran it thru the Big Shot with the large Balloon Pop-Up die in place.

I stamped some balloons from the Balloon Adventures set in Emerald Envy and Crushed Curry.  Then I added a couple of Pacific Point balloons cut with another die from the Balloon Pop-Up set, adhered with Liquid Glue.  And then I decided to add a little Emerald Envy bow – which also happens to have a die in the set!

I stamped the sentiment banner in Calypso Coral and added the sentiment in Pacific Point.

For a little more color, I added a couple of panels of Party Animal DSP, matted on Emerald Envy, on either side of the pop-up, using Liquid Glue.  And a couple more streamer images from Balloon Adventures in Crushed Curry.

Finally, I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel into my Pacific Point card base – just making sure to keep the glue off of the middle (popping up part!) of the panel.  And looky what it does!

How fun is that?! 🙂

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added another Balloon Adventures streamer image and a crazy hair from Hey, Chick in Crushed Curry.  He’s colored with the Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point Watercolor Pencils.  Then he needed a balloon, so I added one in Emerald Envy, with a Crumb Cake string thru his beak…

…and then I added some more of the Party Animal DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  And it really is pretty easy to make an “Oh, wow!!” card with this Balloon Adventures Bundle.  Hope you like!

And – oh by the way – when you buy the bundle, you’ll have instantly earned a free item from the Sale-A-Bration flyer (not to mention FOUR peppermint points if you do it before 10 Jan!).  So you can get the Hey, Chick set and be all ready to make some party crashers of your own! 🙂

    LOVE IT!!!!!

  2. That’s awesome Mary! Those crazy chickens with their party hats top off the card perfectly. It was quite the non-snow event in Atlanta…we got a little more ice up here so our ground looked like it snowed. But much to the kids disgust, it was just a thick layer of ice! 🙂

  3. Mom

Been there, done that…for a fizzle. Consider it a drill. NC not faring so well. 😃
Like the card. Would be fun for New Year greeting.

  4. Karen L.

Cute card……..party time!! Yep, those weathermen seem to get overly excited when a weather front comes thru…….we get the same thing here in MN. We do get a lot of snow but this year at Christmas we had a rain storm with thunder & lightening!! Crazy!! But, better to be prepared then left high & dry! Sorry Finn, we can send ya a little snow!!

  5. juliejphoto

Well!!! This set was NOT on my wish list, but now it might have to be. Cute card. And I have several children for whom I could use this for birthday cards.

  6. I love the party crashers, too funny! And you description of our great snow disaster is hilarious! Glad I can get my dose of daily humor from you. 🙂 I love the card, I will probably have to watch that video, too as I have forgotten how we did it at OnStage, thanks for the link!

  7. How cute is this!!! Love the little party hats on the chickens What a fun birthday card!

  8. Beth's Fancy Stamping

Love all the elements you have incorporated into your design. Neat surprise inside!

  9. Linda Geiger

Great card, Mary, and I just love the embedded video — I’d not intended to buy the bundle, but now I may have to 😉

  10. OMG!!!!!!!!! Those chickens are just to awesome for words. I didn’t even want this stamp set! Well, now I do! I’m waiting for my 1st SU! order of the year. Whoo Hoo! Hang in there, you’ll get snow yet!

    • I know – they’re ridiculously cute!! I know you’ll have fun with them when you get them. Enjoy the arrival of your goodies!! Thanks much! 🙂
