Stampin’ Up! Hang Your Stocking By Your Twinkle Tree for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop. If you’re following along, you’ll know this is a sketch challenge week!  I got a little….loose…with it, but….it’s all good!  I know the other ladies who hop will have made beautiful projects for you, so be sure to check out all their blogs today, okay?

First off – here’s the sketch…

I recently acquired the Twinkle Trees stamp set, and I really wanted to see what I could do with it.  It’s got some images in it that let you create a bokeh look – Bokeh is a photography effect that…well, here’s a picture  – since it’s worth a thousand words and all that:

So, I’ve seen cards where folks created bokeh effects – but, this stamp set pretty much does it for you!  I added some images and a sentiment from the Hang Your Stocking stamp set.  Take a look-see:

You can see I flipped the sketch up on end, and sort of got a little jiggy with a few of the elements.

I started with a plain Whisper White panel on which I built my bokeh effect with Emerald Envy, Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay ink.  I used the large and the medium circle images and stamped them twice without re-inking.  The trick here is to overlap the circles to create that blurry look of bokeh.  Once I had it where I wanted it, I matted it on a piece of Silver Foil.

I used some Mint Macaron 3/8″ Sheer Linen Ribbon, wrapped around the card front to resemble a package wrapping.

For my art panel, I SNAILd a piece of Whisper White on Silver Foil and then on Bermuda Bay.  The Twinkle Trees image is stamped in Emerald Envy.  Then I used Crushed Curry to stamp the little dots image all over the tree.  Using the same image, I inked it in Bermuda Bay and stamped it off once to add some more color to the tree.

The sentiment and snowflakes are from the Hang Your Stocking stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay, and the snowflakes in Mint Macaron and Bermuda Bay.

I stamped the Twinkle Trees star in Versamark on Whisper White, sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  Then I fussy cut it, rolled it a little with my stylus, and popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I popped the art onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I tied a little bow from the Mint Macaron 3/8″ Sheer Linen Ribbon, using my Bow Easy! – and adhered it to the card with a Glue Dot.  And that did it for the card front!

On the inside, I matted a Whisper White panel on Silver Foil, and added Hang Your Stocking snowflakes in Mint Macaron and Bermuda Bay across the top.

I SNAILd the inner liner into my Bermuda Bay card base, then SNAILd the card front on, and the card was done! 🙂

On my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added more of the snowflakes in Bermuda Bay and Mint Macaron to the front…

…and made some more bokeh (cuz I could!) on the envelope flap.  I used sticky note tape to tape off the body of the envelope so as not to get it all bokeh-fied!

Et Voila!  Whatcha think?  Not your typical Christmas season color scheme, I know, but…I kinda like it!  And I love being able to make this fun effect without actually knowing how! 😉  And – Hang Your Stocking contributes a lot – without a stocking in sight! Hope you like! 🙂
