Stampin’ Up! Swirly Celebration!

Good morning, good morning!  As we head into this three-day weekend to celebrate the birth of our nation, I figured I’d share a quick and easy, patriotic-themed card with you.  And since I know you’re getting ready to head out of town, or get to the grocery store to buy ingredients for the cook-out on Monday…I’ll get right to it! 🙂

I used the Swirly Scribbles Framelits and some silvery stars and the Thoughtful Banners bundle – along with the Lucky Stars TIEF.   Take a look-see:

I used a couple of challenges to help me with this one.  The first was a sketch challenge from CAS(E) This Sketch:

CTS #179 Sketch
The second challenge gave me my color scheme.  TGIF Challenges #62:

TGIFC62 Sketch
I’ve done a couple of patriotic cards in the past few weeks, where I used slightly different colors for the red, white and blue.  This time, though, I just kept it simple and used Real Red and Night of Navy along with my Whisper White. 🙂  And I added some silver.  Cuz….you know.  Silver…fireworks…stars….

Okay – this one was quick – so….hang on.  It’s going to go fast!

I started by running a Real Red panel thru the Big Shot in my Lucky Stars TIEF, then I SNAILd it to a Night of Navy mat.  I cut a couple of Swirly Scribbles die cuts – one in Whisper White and one in Night of Navy, and adhered them to the card front with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

The sentiment is from the Thoughtful Banners Bundle – which gets you the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and the Duet Banner Punch.  I stamped the banner image in Night of Navy and added the sentiment in Real Red – this is a photopolymer stamp set, so it was easy to line up.  Then I punched it with the Duet Banner Punch and popped it over the swirly-do’s with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Swirly Celebration 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I made some Silver Foil stars – the large star is the smallest in the Stars Framelits die set.  The little ones are cut with the star border die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits set.  I popped the large star on with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The little stars are all stuck on with Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front! 🙂

On the inside, I took a Whisper White panel and cut the strip of stars out of the bottom of the panel with that little die from the Mini-Treat Bag Thinlits.  Then I found some really cute little stars in the new Better Together stamp set and added them in Real Red and Night of Navy across the top.

Then I SNAILd the panel to a double mat of Real Red and Night of Navy and into my Whisper White card base.  I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I stamped more of the Better Together stars in Real Red and Night of Navy on the front…

…and again on the back flap!

Et Voila!  See?  I told ya – fast and easy.  It probably took me longer to write this post than it took to make the card!  And I think it’s fun, don’t you?  Once again – Swirly Scribbles shows its incredible versatility!  I hope you like it. 🙂
