Stampin’ Up! Seaside Shore Jar of Love

UPDATE 28 Jun 16:  Hey folks – I just found out that this card was selected as a Hand Stamped Sentiments Artist Pick!  Whoo-hoo – and thanks to all the greta designers at HSS for selecting my card! 🙂  You can see the other winners right here!

Good Friday morning to y’all!  I hope your week has gone well and that you’ve got fun plans for the weekend!  Don’t be forgetting that Father’s Day is Sunday!

So this morning – Thursday morning that is! – I was sitting in the kitchen working on the computer and out of the corner of my eye I saw something sort of gallop by down below – right by the pond.  I glanced over and there was a small brown dog, kind of romping and stopping to smell the grass.  I jumped up and called Wayne – and we looked to see whose little dog was out there.

And then.  We realized.  It wasn’t a dog.  It was a FAWN!!  A teeny, tiny, spotty-bodied little fawn!  And just a little ways further up the pond was Mom.  And her TWIN!!  Oh.  My.  Goodness.

That’s them – the kids are getting a quick snack there.  That would be the world’s worst picture – hopefully we’ll see them again soon and I can get a better picture of them.  They’re just so stinkin’ cute!! 🙂

This is the first set of babies we’ve seen this year, so that was really exciting for us!

Anywho….card.  I made this fun little shaker card using the new Jar of Love stamp set and its coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits.  I added some Seaside Shore and a touch of Swirly Scribbles Thinlits die cuts.  Take a look-see:

This card managed to play along with three challenges.  The first inspired the layout, the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #241:

The second helped with the color scheme….Hand Stamped Sentiments #240:

The third challenge is from Stamp Ink Paper.  Challenge #52 was a Card Maker’s Choice.

I started with the card front, which is a piece of the new Irresistibly Floral DSP that looks, to me, like bubbles!  This is fun paper – it’s all white until you add some ink – and then the paper gets colored and the pre-printed pattern “appears” as a resist.  I brayered it with Night of Navy ink – letting it be kind of splotchy to look more like water.  And, just cuz I could, I ran it thru the Big Shot in the new Seaside TIEF.

The “ocean” is two die cuts from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits – one in Gold Foil and one in Pink Pirouette card stock.  I cut them apart to let them be re-arranged in more watery fashion when I adhered them to the card front with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  I trimmed the excess from the sides and then SNAILd the card front to a Pink Pirouette mat.

Then it was time for the shaker!  I built it with the Everyday Jars Framelits.  I cut one jar from Whisper White and heat embossed the seagrass image from Seaside Shore in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I used my Aqua Painter to brush on some Night of Navy water.  Then I cut the same size jar from a piece of Window Sheet and one from Night of Navy.  On that one, I also used a die from the set to cut out the center of the jar.  Even the lid is made with this fun bundle – I heat embossed the image in Gold and then cut it with the matching die – and stuck it to the top of the jar with Liquid Glue.

In my world, where more is better, I figured I needed more seagrass.  So I heat embossed the image again in Gold on a piece of Pink Pirouette card stock and fussy cut it.  I used a little Liquid Glue just at the base of the grass to adhere it to the white jar die cut – that left the top “loose” for my fish to swim thru.

Speaking of the fish…he’s one of the images in the Jar of Love stamp set – I stamped him in Night of Navy and cut him with the coordinating die in Everyday Jars.  Then I put some Stampin’ Dimensional on him and adhered him to the white jar piece – sort of interspersing him in the grass.

To make the shaker – I used Liquid Glue to adhere my die cut piece of Window Sheet to the back of the Night of Navy cut out and rubbed it with my Embossing Buddy to get rid of static.  Then I wound some of the new Foam Adhesive strips around the edge.  I piled a bunch of gold and silver sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment in the center of the white jar and stuck the popped-up Night of Navy jar over the top.  Done!  I used some Linen Thread to wind around behind the jar – sticking the loops with Glue Dots – and then put the jar on the card front with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

I made the sentiment from the Seaside Shore stamp set, stamping it in Night of Navy on Whisper White and fussy cutting it, then popping it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The decorations are all found in the Seaside Shore set – I heat embossed them all in Gold on Night of Navy or Pink Pirouette card stock and fussy cut them.  I rounded them all by pressing a stylus into the back of them – pressing them into my squishy mouse pad – and then used little pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional to stick them on.  The final touch is a little bow from some Night of Navy Solid Baker’s Twine and Gold Metallic Thread!

On the inside, I stamped the Seaside Shore seagrass image in Pink Pirouette in the center of a Whisper White panel.  When it dried, I rubbed over it with my Embossing Buddy, and then stamped the sentiment from Seaside Shore in Versamark and heat embossed it in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

I SNAILd the panel to a Pink Pirouette mat and into my Night of Navy card base.  I also SNAILd the card front on as well, in deference to the thickness of the shaker, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a Pink Pirouette seagrass stamp and a few Night of Navy starfish and shells….

…and I made some custom designer paper on a piece of Whisper White Envelope Paper (now retired!) by stamping more images from Jar of Love and Seaside Shore and then used that to make a custom flap cover.

Et Voila!  A watery, shiny shaker card suitable for….almost any day at all! The shiny sequins in with the fish and seagrass is a really fun element!! I hope that you like it and will give it a shot! 🙂
