Stampin’ Up! For the New Two Botanicals for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2

Mornin’, y’all –  it’s Thursday and that means it’s Blog Hop Day!  All our Happy Stampers are hopping today, so I know you’ve got a bunch of great projects to see today!  Please take a minute to check them all out – and maybe leave us a comment or two.  We love hearing what you think of our efforts each week! 🙂

Yesterday I shared a very elegant Wedding card with you – that I also told you was completely not the right card for my friend – who is getting married this weekend – in good jeans, a nice white linen shirt and a Blue western jacket.  Please don’t take that as any sort of criticism at all – it’s her day and that is such a perfect choice of outfit for her….and she’ll be comfortable and able to relax and enjoy the day as she marries her best friend!  I meant it only to illustrate that yesterday’s card wasn’t right.

I think today’s is.  And since it’s on its way to her – I surely hope she thinks so, too!

I used the Occasions stamp sets In the Meadow and Timeless Textures, as well as the For the New Two set from the Annual Catalog.  I reprised – basically – my color scheme from yesterday, with the exception of the “color”.  Take a look-see:

For the New Two In the Meadow 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I’ve been working towards this card for a couple of weeks now – it’s what got me started with In the Meadow, making a Sticky Note mask of the mountains….

Wilderness Awaits Get Well 9 - Stamps-N-Lingers

She is such a Colorado mountain girl – it’s where we met! – that I knew that mountains had to be in the wedding card.  But it’s been hard melding the little bit of frill and bling that I just felt compelled to include in a wedding card with the mountains.  The sketch we got for today’s Blog Hop all of a sudden made the lightbulb go off in my head!

Picture it turned vertical!  See it now? 🙂

So – I decided to fussy cut my mountain range out and make it be the line between the two sections of the sketch.  But, heck, I even waffled over that!  I tried….black mountains on Sahara Sand…

Nope – not quite right.  So….maybe Versamark mountains on Smoky Slate…

For the New Two In the Meadow 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…this one was looking promising until I messed up stamping the sentiment.  Which ended up being a good thing – the whole background just completely disappeared when the ribbon was laid on.  Back to the drawing board I went.

I finally settled on Basic Black Archival Ink to stamp the In the Meadow mountain image on a panel of Smoky Slate.  I stamped the image once and then covered it with my mask and stamped it again.  I did re-ink for the second image. 🙂  If you’re wondering, it ended up being 4″ from the bottom of the panel to the top of the tallest mountain.

Then I inked up the filigree image from Timeless Textures in Versamark ink and stamped it all around below the mountain range.  I fussy cut the mountains and that piece was done.

For the middle background – yes, there are a lot of layers on this card! – I used a piece of Everyday Chic DSP from the Annual Catalog.  Using my Marina Mist Stampin’ Write Marker, I colored in all the little hearts that would show above the mountains.  Then I SNAILd my mountain panel to the Everyday Chic DSP panel.

I wrapped a length of Sahara Sand 7/8″ Lace Trim around the card front, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  Then I did the same with a piece of Silver 5/8″ Satin Ribbon, letting the lace show below it.  Seems a tiny bit like a bridal garter, now that I look at it a little more!  Hmmm. 😉

I SNAILd the card front to a panel of Sahara Sand and then to a panel of Marina Mist card stock.  Did I mention that her favorite color is blue?  Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I stamped the sentiment from For The New Two, in Marina Mist, below the ribbon embellishment.  I used my Stampin’ Write Marker to just deepen the color a little on the flowers below the sentiment.

For the flowers, I used the small flower die in the Botanical Builder Framelits for a few flowers in Whisper White.  I folded their little petals and then lightly sponged the edges with Marina Mist.  I also made a Petite Petal Punch flower in Marina Mist and one from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  I sponged the edges on those two as well with Marina Mist.

Finally, I cut two of the Botanical Builder fern die cuts, one in Silver Foil and one in Marina Mist.

Then I got them all arranged and adhered to the card front.  On the top grouping, I used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the Silver Foil fern to the ribbon. Then I added a couple of Glue Dots on top of it and wound several loops of Silver Metallic Thread around and around.  Over that went the flowers with more of the Liquid Glue.  I did the same in the bottom corner, but without the metallic thread, using the Marina Mist fern and the remainder of the flowers.

For the New Two In the Meadow 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I added small Rhinestone Basic Jewels to each flower center and the card front was done!

For the inside, I first stamped the second sentiment from For The New Two in Marina Mist in the center of the Smoky Slate panel.  Then I added another In The Meadow mountain over the top of that (I used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig again), stamping it in Smoky Slate.  To finish it off, I stamped more of the Timeless Textures filigree image in Versamark across the bottom of the panel (leaving myself some room to write a little note!).

For the New Two In the Meadow 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I pulled the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig into service again, and stamped more of the filigree in Versamark over the top of the mountains.  Then I SNAILd the panel to a mat of Sahara Sand and then to one of Marina Mist.  Finally, I SNAILd it into my Basic Gray card base.  I did the same with the card front and the card was done!

For the New Two In the Meadow 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the Whisper White Medium Envelope, I stamped the Timeless Textures image on both front corners in Smoky Slate.  Then I used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to ever so slightly offset a second image, this time stamped in Marina Mist…

For the New Two In the Meadow 9 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and I made a custom DSP for the liner.  Using a piece of White Envelope Paper, which I cut with my Envelope Liner Framelits, I stamped more Smoky Slate filigree images all over the liner.  I added the little heart from Bloomin’ Love, in Marina Mist, to coordinate with the hearts on the Everyday Chic DSP on the front of the card.  Yes, it’s true – I was out of that design in the Everyday Chic – but, as it turns out, I really like how the custom paper turned out, don’t you?

For the New Two In the Meadow 10 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  A wedding card, truly custom made for my friend.  I think it has enough elegance to be very pretty, but it’s casual enough to dovetail in very nicely with her wedding. 🙂

Here’s a little bonus – I told you I made a batch of Espresso Chocolate Chip Biscotti for them.  Well, since I’m a Stampin’ Up! Demo – it seemed like the right thing to do to make a fun little gift tag to go with.
