Stampin’ Up! Happy Pants Balloon Celebration Birthday

Good morning – here we are on the cusp of another weekend!  And Sunday night is Oscar night!  Do you have a pick for Best Movie?  I’ve only seen two of the nominees – The Martian and Mad Max Fury Road.  I’m a serious non-fan of the entire Mad Max franchise (a little too possible a future for my taste!) so, I’m pretty much hoping that one doesn’t take it.  The Martian was a great fun book to read and the movie was great.  And, of course, watching Mr. Matt Damon for an hour and a half doesn’t suck, right??  So….that’s my pick! 🙂

Today’s card is another birthday card!  I used the Sale-A-Bration set called Party Pants and the Balloon Bouquet Punch.  And, just for fun, I pulled out the tiny little balloon punch from Party Punch Pack in the Occasions Catalog.  Take a look-see:

Happy Birthday Pants 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I played along with the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #161 for the design….

CTS 161 Sketch

…and with the Pals Paper Arts challenge #289 for the color scheme!

PPA 289 Sketch

I started by layering up my background.  I SNAILd together a Pear Pizzazz sheet from the Subtles Backgrounds DSP Stack and a Night of Navy sheet from the Regals Backgrounds DSP Stack.  Then, for the inchies….I cut a bunch of 1 1/8″ pieces of White Corrugated Paper and a bunch of 1″ squares of Blushing Bride paper from the Subtles Backgrounds.

Happy Birthday Pants 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used the little balloon from the Party Punch Pack to punch each of the Blushing Bride squares – making sure that I had the white script right side up!  I adhered each little Blushing Bride square to a White Corrugated Paper mat – ensuring that I changed the orientation of the corrugated paper….all the polka dots went on vertical and all the script paper went on horizontal corrugated mats.

I adhered all the squares to the layered card front with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, just kind of eyeballing the line-up and spacing.

For the sentiment, I cut a piece of Night of Navy card stock with the Hello You Thinlit “Happy” and a second cut with Blushing Bride.  Then I used my Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the two cuts together.  Then I brushed it with my Clear Wink of Stella for some shine!

Happy Birthday Pants 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I made the sentiment banner with a little scrap of leftover White Corrugated Paper – just flipped over to the smooth side! 🙂  Using one of the sentiment stamps from Party Pants, I colored just the word “Birthday” with my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker and then I stamped the banner.  I trimmed one end as a banner and then edged the whole thing with the Night of Navy marker.  Then I brushed it with the Clear Wink of Stella – which you can see in the picture above.

For the balloons, I went to my Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper (from the Occasions catalog) and cut one of the smaller balloons in the Balloon Bouquet Punch and one tiny one with the Party Punch Pack balloon.  I gave both of them a quick little curved line with my Signo White Gel Pen to add the illusion of depth.

I used a dab of Liquid Glue and attached a tail from a piece of Blushing Bride Baker’s Twine and then added a teensy little bow.

I spent a little time dithering over whether to put the tail over or under the sentiment – and finally decided to go over it.  I thought it would sort of look like the balloon was floating off on its own….

So, I adhered the banner to the card front with Liquid Glue and stuck the tiny Glimmer Paper balloon to the end.  Then I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to stick the sentiment over that.  Finally, I added the larger balloon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  For the string, I let it fall to the side and used a tiny dab of glue to adhere it to the card front.  So that it will always look like it’s trailing after the balloon!

For the inside, I colored a couple more words on the Happy Pants stamp with my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker and, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, stamped the sentiment in the middle of a piece of Shimmery White Card Stock.

Happy Birthday Pants 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

In the course of deciding what to do on the front of the card, I ended up punching out a lot of balloons!  Big ones, small ones, pink ones, pear ones, glimmery ones….so, in the spirit of using what I’d made, I decided to adhere one of them on the inside panel.  First I stamped a Blushing Bride string from Party Pants and then used a little Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to stick a Blushing Bride balloon over the top.  Then I matted the panel on more of the Pear Pizzazz and Night of Navy Background DSPs.  And SNAILd it into my Blushing Bride card base.

I SNAILd the front of the card onto the front (sheesh – redundant much, Mary??) and the card was done!

For the envelope, I did a few more Party Pants strings on the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope.  Then I adhered a couple of Balloon Bouquet balloons that I had left over from my designing…

…and added a Blushing Bride Subtles Backgrounds DSP liner, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelits.

Et Voila!  A fun, sort-of-patchwork feeling birthday card, with a little bling and a lot of soft color!  Hope that you like!
