Here we are with the first Happy Stampers Blog Hop of 2016! We’re all having fun with Sale-A-Bration (I really REALLY love free stuff – and there’s a LOT of it to be had right now!) and stamping and creating with our goodies – new and not-so-new! I hope that you’ll take a minute to hop thru the hop and tell everyone what you think of their projects!
Today’s hop centered around a sketch Challenge. Here’s where we started!
I decided to work with some of my very favorite new items from the Sale-A-Bration flyer. Wildflower Fields DSP and the coordinating Flowering Fields stamp set. I got both of them free with a $50 order (well, one for each $50 order, of course!). And they’re so pretty – take a look-see:
As you can see, I mixed some new with some Annual Catalog oldies…..I started by making my frame in a panel of White Corrugated Paper. I ran the panel thru the Big Shot with the 6th-from the center die from Lots Of Labels on the panel. I used my Magnetic Platform, of course, but I also used a couple of sticky notes to secure the dies – I really wanted to be sure that the die wouldn’t move. I set the cut out piece aside – but I’ve still got it, just in case I ever need something like that for a card. Yes, I’m a hoarder of scraps!
Then, cuz I thought it would be cool, I ran the cut corrugated paper thru the Big Shot in my Brick Wall TIEF! And I was right – it IS cool! 🙂 Then I SNAILd that panel to a mat from the Wildflower Fields DSP.
I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock with the 5th-from-the-center Lots of Labels die. Then I stamped – individually, and using my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to line them up – several of the flowers from Flowering Fields in Smoky Slate ink. I then colored said flowers using my Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers. Finally, I stamped the little butterfly in Smoky Slate, and then colored him in with Lost Lagoon, Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry. His wings got a little brush with my Clear Wink of Stella and I just barely dabbed the body with the Gold Wink!
I wrapped a length of Calypso Coral Thick Baker’s Twine around the little “label” and tied a bow. Then I popped that panel into the center of my frame with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The sentiment is a strip of Whisper White, stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. It’s the sentiment from the Sale-A-Bration set called Botanicals For You – and I really love it! I fussy cut a banner end on the right side, and punched the left side by running it thru the back of my Washi Label punch. I made an identical banner from a piece of Calypso Coral card stock, and stuck them together with a Glue Dot. Then I used a combination of SNAIL (in the center) and some more Dimensionals (on the ends) to stick them on the card front. I added a Metal Rimmed Pearl to the sentiment banner and the front was done!
For the inside, I SNAILd a piece of Whisper White card stock to another panel of the Wildflower Fields DSP. Then I stamped a sentiment from One Big Meaning in the center in Tuxedo Black. Adding the butterfly and the single flower seemed like a good idea – and so I did. They went on the same as the flowers and flutterby did on the front. And this little winged dude got some Clear and Gold Wink Of Stella, too!
I SNAILd the finished piece into my Smoky Slate card base and popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card was done!
For the envelope, I stamped the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope with several more flowers and the butterfly, all in Smoky Slate ink. And I colored them again with my Stampin’ Write Markers and added the Wink of Stella touches to this butterfly as well…
…and then I made a liner from the Wildflower Fields DSP, cutting it with my Envelope Liner Framelits.
Et Voila – a lovely thank you card, made with what I think is one of the prettiest stamp sets and Designer Paper I’ve seen in a long time! I just really love these two items!
And don’t forget that you can get them for FREE! Each $50 in product that you order during Sale-A-Bration will get you one free item from the flyer. Will these be YOUR free picks?? 🙂 Or maybe it’ll be Botanicals For You? Perhaps you’re like me, and you plan to get all THREE! 😉

Oh, I love this Mary! The extra texture from the corrugated paper with the brick embossing folder is so cool! Great colors and design!
Thanks, Amy! I’d forgotten how cool it is to emboss the corrugated paper! Guess we were both being “brick” heads this week, huh? 😉
