Stampin’ Up! Apple of My Eye Thanks

Good morning!  I hope that you’ve been doing some shopping in the new Occasions Catalog and getting lots of free stuff for Sale-A-Bration! 🙂

My share today is kind of fruity!  Literally!  I made it with the new Apple of My Eye stamp set – which we all got when we attended OnStage Live last year.  I haven’t done much with it since we got it – don’t know why, just haven’t.  So I determined I was going to use it today!  I combined it with some Cherry On Top DSP – from the Annual Catalog.  Take a look-see:

Apple of My Eye Thanks 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers It’s a little out of my wheelhouse (okay – my wheelhouse isn’t even in sight!), but as I worked on it, it started to grow on me!  I started by matting a piece of Crushed Curry card stock onto a panel from the Cherry on Top DSP with some SNAIL.  Then I cut three identical panels of Whisper White card stock for my images and sentiment.

I stamped the oranges in Tangelo Twist, and then added the seeds image in Tangerine Tango.  That looked pretty good – until the ink dried.  When that happened, though, they just sort of “disappeared”!  So, I used my gold Wink of Stella to free-hand some seeds back into the fruit and give it a little shine.  I stuck a Rhinestone Basic Jewel in the centers to finish them off.

For the cherries, I stamped a few stems – these are all in the Apple of My Eye set – in Early Espresso.  The cherries themselves are stamped in Watermelon Wonder!  This panel is embellished with some Clear Wink of Stella on the white highlights on each cherry.  I also stamped a couple of the leaf images from Apple of My Eye, in Cucumber Crush and fussy cut them.  I rolled them with my bone folder, and used a Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere them to the bottom cherry sprig.  Then I added a single Rhinestone Basic Jewel with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

The sentiment is stamped in Cucumber Crush, and then the pear image stamped over the top in Crushed Curry.  I added a stem in Early Espresso and a leaf in Cucumber Crush.  About this time, I was really thinking everything was looking way too plain.  So, I pulled out my Tip Top Taupe Stampin’ Write Marker and started quilting!  My thought was to make it look like the fruit was appliquéd onto the panels and then the panels stitches onto a quilt.

Yea.  I’m not a seamstress!  But, I added my stitches around everything, and I liked how it ended up!

Back to the pear.  I fussy cut another leaf, rolled it a little and added it to give some dimension and depth to the pear.  A little more Wink of Stella – this time in Gold – added some highlights to the pear.  Then I made a little bow from two strands of Gold Metallic Thread and one length of Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine, which I adhered with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the panels to the Crushed Curry mat – I needed a little wiggle room/time to be sure everything was spaced and lined up just right.

For the inside, I repeated the double matting with more of the Cherry on Top DSP and a Crushed Curry card stock panel.  I added a Whisper White panel as the inner liner, adhering everything together with SNAIL.

The Apple of My Eye sentiment is stamped in Cucumber Crush and I repeated the pear stamping, just like I did on the front – right down to the Gold Wink of Stella highlights on the pear’s body.  And more Tip Top Taupe stitching.

I SNAILd that into a Cucumber Crush card base and added the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  And the card was done!

For the envelope, I used a Whisper White Medium Envelope, blingifying it with a third – identically made! – pear on the front….

…and a liner of Cherry on Top DSP, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelits!

Et Voila!  A fruit-salad card to send to someone sweet!  Hope that you like!
