Now back to our regularly scheduled programming!
******************************************
Well, folks – here it is, Hawmp-Day! Again! Today, after I got “home” from work, I persuaded the hotel folks to give me a table – a little bigger than I need, and it’s a little in the way of housekeeping, but….it works! Tomorrow I’ll set out all my stuff and I’ll be in business again. And – if I can just adjust to the time change, I’ll be ready to roll!
For today, I’m sharing a card that I made last week in anticipation of this lag in my ability to make cards here. I saw a card on Mary Fish’s blog that featured a flower “arrangement” in a vase. And the idea was so ridiculously easy and clever that I had to do my own take on it! The end result is a combination of One Big Meaning, Wild About Flowers (a new addition that I’d not really used yet) and some lovely Into the Woods DSP. And – there’s one other ingredient that is the source of the “secret”! Take a look-see:
Can you spot it? Do you know what the secret ingredient is? Read on, my friend – and I’ll share!
I started with a panel of Very Vanilla card stock. The vase is made from a piece of one of my favorite designs from the Into the Woods DSP. It’s cut with…..one of the Delicate Ornaments Thinlits! Yep – that’s what I learned from Mary Fish. It’s no wonder she’s the star that she is! I aligned the taller, more narrow ornament die over the bouquet on the DSP and ran it thru the Big Shot. Then I lined it up on the card front panel and determined where I was going to adhere it.
At that point, I pulled out the Wild About Flowers set and stamped the stems/leaves image in Mossy Meadow, right above where I wanted the vase. The stems extend down behind the vase. After that, I SNAILd the die cut to the card panel, allowing it to overhang the bottom edge of the card stock. I used my Paper Snips to trim the “vase” into submission and make its bottom!
I then pulled out some scraps of Tangelo Twist, Crushed Curry and Whisper White card stock, and punched out a flurry of Itty Bitty Accent Punch pack flowers and some Petite Petals. I adhered the different colored flowers together with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, after folding and lightly curling each petal. I mixed and matched colors, cuz I could and cuz I wanted it to look like I’d stepped into my gorgeous cottage garden and picked just exactly the right flowers! Of course, that “gorgeous cottage garden” exists only in my dreams…..
Before I stuck my flowers on, I used my Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers to freehand a bunch of “grass” in the vase. I didn’t really know what I was doing, so I just kept doing it until it felt about right. Then I stuck all the flowers on with Liquid Glue. I used my Sharpie pens to color some large Pearl Basic Jewels in Yellow and Brown, and stuck them in the centers of my flowers. I decided Tangelo Twist should have yellow centers and Crushed Curry should have brown. Made sense to me!
I inked up the sentiment from One Big Meaning in Tangelo Twist ink and stamped it next to the vase. Then I added a triple bow – one strand Linen Thread and TWO strands Gold Metallic Thread – with a tiny dab of Liquid Glue.
With that, I set the card front aside and moved inside.
As you’ll see, the inside is blank – quick – and easy! I just SNAILd a panel of Very Vanilla to a panel of Tangelo Twist. Then I added a strip of Into the Woods DSP, matted on Tangelo Twist. I adhered it to the panel with SNAIL, cutting the sides off to get a clean edge. Then I SNAILd it into my Crumb Cake card base.
I popped the card front onto the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
For my envelope, I stamped the leaves and stems from Wild About Flowers, in Mossy Meadow, on the front of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. I added some flowers from the same set, in Crushed Curry and Tangelo Twist. This particular image has two flowers on it – so I just inked both flowers with crushed Curry and stamped them, then cleaned it off, inked one flower in Tangelo Twist and added it…..
…I used a piece of Into the Woods and made a liner with my Envelope Liner Framelits.
Et Volia! I’m so glad I saw Mary’s post with this great idea – it’s so clever! I’m just ridiculously pleased with how….pretty!….this card turned out!
Now – want another glimpse of what’s coming in the 2016 Occasions Catalog? Weeeeellllllllll, okay…just cause I like ya! Take a look-see:
This is a bundle that includes the Rose Wonder stamp set and Rose Garden Thinlits. How pretty is that?
How about this one?
That’s the Bear Hugs Bundle – and I just love his string of fish! Too danged cute.
Okay – that’s all you get! I have a few sets tucked away in my tote that I’ll be making a couple of projects with soon. And I might leak a few more pictures of the Display Boards from last Saturday’s event. They were all set up in a big room and all of us were wandering or racing around taking pictures!! Quite chaotic – but a lot of fun. Also a lot of ooohhhhing and aaahhhhhhing to be heard. 🙂
Tomorrow is Blog Hop Thursday! It’s a color challenge this week – Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Old Olive. We go live at 9am so I’ll be in your Inbox a leetle later than usual!
