Stampin’ Up! Home for a Cozy Christmas

Well, back to work!  Was such a fun weekend – it’s hard to get back to reality!  And by reality I mean….trying to whittle down my stampin’ stash to take with me to Yuma and getting all of it and my clothes (I really must take clothes…) into two suitcases that don’t weigh more than 50lbs!  This is no easy endeavor – let me tell you!  Just in case you don’t realize it – this stuff is heavy!  I kept adding “must-have” punches to the pile…..

So, please – if my shares over the next few weeks are not as….varied…as I might normally do, please forgive me! 🙂

Today’s share, as I wing my way West, is pretty quick and simple.  It uses a little Home for Christmas DSP, some Holidays Fancy Vellum and most of the Cozy Christmas stamp set images!  Take a look-see:

Home for Cozy Christmas 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The design comes from the Freshly Made Sketches #212 challenge – head over when you’re done here and play along!

FMS 212 Sketch

I started by adhering a panel of Holidays Fancy Vellum to a piece of Pacific Point card stock.  I did that by using dabs of glue behind the embossed images and behind the portion where I knew there would be elements on the front – in order to hide the glue.  Then, I heat embossed the Santa image from Cozy Christmas in Silver onto the card front.  I did that by inking the image with Versamark, sprinkling it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and then hitting it with my heat tool.

The front elements are simply two equally-sized squares of Home for Christmas DSP, matted on Mint Macaron.  The bottom square is SNAILd to the card front, and the top uses a combination of SNAIL and Stampin’ Dimensionals to compensate for the thickness of the bottom square.

I made the sentiment banner by stamping the Cozy Christmas sentiment in Real Red on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Then I used my Washi Label punch (yes, I added this one to the group headed to Arizona!) to stamp the ends.  The is quite a bit longer than the punch would normally create – so I stuck the ends of my strip into the punch from the back, stamping each end one end at a time.  Make sense?  Should have taken a picture – sorry! 🙁

I adhered just the left end of the banner to the card front with a Glue Dot – leaving the right end loose and banner-ish.

The final piece to add was the Snowflake Element.  I made it shiny by squishing it down in my Veramark Pad, then sprinkling it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heating it.  That’s such a quick and easy way to add color and shine to these already-pretty snowflakes! 🙂  I used a Glue Dot to add the Real Red Home for Christmas Enamel Dot to the front and a few more Glue Dots on the back – for the Silver Metallic Thread.  I just wound it around and back and forth, sticking it down into the Glue Dots several times to make the loops you can see.  Then I stuck it down on the banner!

I set that aside and went to work on the inside of the card.  I first layered a Very Vanilla panel onto a Pacific Point mat.  Then I stamped the central Cozy Christmas sentiment in Real Red.  I added a Mint Macaron snowy cabin – and then colored in the snow on the roof and the trees with my Signo White Gel Pen.  For the bells image, I used my Hello Honey, Pear Pizzazz, Real Red and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers to color the stamp itself and then stamped it onto the panel.  You might have to do some touch up  – which is easy with the Fine Point end of the Stampin’ Write Markers!

I SNAILd that into my Mint Macaron card base and then popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the envelope, I stamped the final Cozy Christmas sentiment (yes, I used every image except “TO” and “FROM” in this set!) onto a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope in Mint Macaron…..

…then I added a Home for Christmas DSP liner using my Envelope Liners Framelits!

Et Voila!  I have to say – if I didn’t see this color combination in the DSP, I probably never would have put them together.  I mean, I might have come up with the Pacific Point and the Mint….oh, who am I kidding?!?  I never would have come up with it.  Let’s just leave it at that!  That’s what’s so cool about Stampin’ Up! The way they coordinate all the papers and inks and tell you everything you need to know – makes you look like a total artist! 😉

I’ll be back tomorrow with the Weekly Updates.  And probably a few peeks from the new Occasions Catalog!  Speaking of catalogs – if you’ve ordered from me in the past year, I’ll be sending you the Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs.  If you have not, but are planning to order from me, let me know soon, and I’ll add you to the list to get your very own copy.  I can’t give you specifics, yet – but…this is an awesome AWESOME catalog! I love danged near everything in it – just like I did the Holiday catalog! 🙂

Don’t miss out on this last day for these Weekly Deals.  I think you’re going to want that Festive Flower punch if you don’t have it yet….this is what we call foreshadowing….
