Stampin’ Up! A “Light”hearted Leaves Card!

It’s Friday!  And I’m almost on my way home.  Whoo-hoo!  It’s been an interesting trip.  Good that I came – I think they need my help, whether they know it or not!! 😉

But, I’m for sure looking forward to my Tempurpedic bed.  I believe this one is a piece of plywood.  With a mattress cover!  From the Dollar Store.  Sheesh.  Definitely not the best Hampton I’ve ever stayed in – definitely will be the last time I stay here.

Got some good news today – my travel for my trip to Yuma (a 30 day adventure – did I tell you they have killer bees there!?!?  Some kind of mutant bee that gets pretty pissy pretty quick.  Can’t wait!) was approved today.  Yeah??  That gave me the chance to go ahead and book my flight.  Thankfully, there was one middle seat left.  So I got it.

I hope the sarcasm came thru….

But – that’s neither here nor there.  Today’s all about another glowing card!

I couldn’t help it.  I had a piece of the Crumb Cake card stock left over, just the right size for a petite little fun fold card.  I loved the first one I did so much that I just had to do another one.  And this one uses Lighthearted Leaves – a stamp set that seems made for this kind of card.  Take a look-see:

Lighthearted Leaves Glow Card 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used the leftover piece of Crumb Cake card stock that I scored and folded at 3 1/2″ and 7 1/8″.  For the front, I cut my mat from a piece of Into the Woods DSP and layered it with a piece of Whisper White.  I stacked all three pieces up in the way they’d be when I assembled the card, using small pieces of scotch tape between them to hold them in place.  Then I ran them thru the Big Shot, cutting the Leaflets maple leaf shape.  I ran it back and forth a few times, to be sure it cut all the way thru the three layers.  It still didn’t – I had to run the Crumb Cake thru again by itself – but there was a deep enough impression that it was easy to get the die back in the right spot!

Lighthearted Leaves Glow Card 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I stamped the Lighthearted Leaf image in Versamark on a piece of Vellum Card Stock, sprinkled Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on it and then heat embossed it with my Heat Tool.  After it cooled, I used my Stampin’ Write Markers – Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Hello Honey, Cajun Craze, Blackberry Bliss,  and some Tangelo Twist – to color the leaf.  I made sure to wait a while before I went any further to ensure the ink had dried completely on the vellum.

I sandwiched the vellum between the Whisper White and the Into the Woods DSP mat with SNAIL, and then SNAILd the layers onto the card front, lining up the leaf with the cutout.

I stamped the Lighthearted Leaves sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink, and then added some Into the Woods Elements with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  I embellished them a bit by tracing the veins with my Blackberry Bliss Marker.  Finally, I added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the center of the leaf.

Lighthearted Leaves Glow Card 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the inside, I stamped the other sentiments (all from Lighthearted Leaves) in Blackberry Bliss on a piece of Very Vanilla, matted on Into the Woods DSP – the same design as on the front.  I made sure that “So Grateful for You” would be visible when I propped the card on the Rhinestone Basic Jewels, that I placed for just that purpose!

Lighthearted Leaves Glow Card 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Do you guys like my background in this picture?  It’s courtesy of the Hampton.  As I was getting my photos ready for my post tonight, I realized I’d taken all sorts of pictures on Tuesday before I left – but not a one of the inside of the card.  Duh!  Fortunately, I’d brought all this week’s cards with me, so I pulled a Hotel White washcloth into photo-booth duty!  Needs must, right? 😉

All that remained was to make a custom envelope, using a piece of Kraft Envelope Paper and my Envelope Punch Board.  Then I stamped the Lighthearted Leaf on the front in Blackberry Bliss….

…and then added a custom liner (made using my Envelope Punch board – you can see how to do that here!) made with Into the Woods DSP.

Lighthearted Leaves Glow Card 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Finally – finally! – here’s what it does when you add your battery operated tea light….  hang on to your hats – it’s totally cool…..

Lighthearted Leaves 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

And….

Lighthearted Leaves 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  I think it looks like a stained glass window in a church – at night with the church lights behind it.  I hope you like it even half as much as I do!

What do you think?  Are you officially hoping that I’m over it?  Or at the least have run out of Vellum? 🙂

Only time will tell – you’ll just have to keep coming back to see…… 😉

  1. Stunning Mary! It does looks just like a stained glass window! Beautifully done, great colors and design. And I must say, the Hampton Inn wash cloth does make a nice backdrop in your photo. 😉

    • LOL! I’m just going to stop using my “photo booth” at home. All I need is a white washcloth. Who knew?!? Thanks, Amy! 🙂
