Stampin’ Up! Sparkly Seasons Wish You a Happy Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Fall Back Icon

Well, today’s share almost didn’t happen!  Yesterday, in the middle of making my card – for Halloween! – we went out to feed the horses.  Our big guy – who’s 25 or so (that’s not ancient, but it’s getting up there pretty good), came in with a case of ADR (that’s scientific vet speak for Ain’t Doin’ Right).  He took about 2 bites of his dinner and then began to act – wrong.  It became clear pretty quickly that he was colicing.  Now, when a baby colics – it’s worrisome.  When a horse colics – it’s beyond worrisome.  Colic can – and has! – kill a horse.  And an old horse…well…let’s just say that it gets our attention really fast.

Long story short – after about 2 1/2 hours of walking, doctoring and talking to the vet (and hoping for some….poop!), we finally left him in his stall for the night.  Back in the house at around 9:15pm – still no card done.  But, I persevered – at least I knew what I was going to do.  And – it helped me to stay awake for the 11pm welfare check on the patient!

On a brighter note – when I got home from the grocery store yesterday afternoon, a satisfyingly heavy Stampin’ Up! box was at the gate!  I just love when those kinds of boxes arrive – don’t you?  This was my order that I placed during the 15% off sale!!  Also – on the very same day that 6 new stamp sets arrived – Publix had TWO more of the Ster-i-lite CD boxes!!  Timing is everything!

So – back to the card I made.  I used Sparkly Seasons and its bundled Seasonal Frame Thinlits, paired with some Happy Haunting DSP to bring you Happy Halloween wishes.  Take a look-see:

Guess what else was in my box?  Yep – the Bow Builder Punch!!  I’ve waited a long time to get it, and I’m so happy it’s finally in my stash!

My design was inspired by the Can You Case It blog challenge #92.  This is pretty wide open, so there’s likely to be a lot of really fun cards.  Be sure to go check them out.

CYCI 92 Sketch

I started by SNAILing a panel of Happy Haunting DSP to a panel of Pumpkin Pie card stock.  Then I made the square by SNAILing a piece of Very Vanilla card stock to a mat of Always Artichoke.  I added the spider web and the Boo sentiment from Sparkly Seasons, in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Sparkly Seasons 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the Jack O’Lantern, I stamped the zig-zag image in Pumpkin Pie ink on a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock, and then cut it out with the matching die in the Seasonal Frame Thinlits set.  I added his little face in Tuxedo Black.  I also stamped and cut out the stem/leaf, using Always Artichoke ink on Always Artichoke card stock.  After I cut it with the matching die, I snipped the leaf off the stem and re-attached them to the pumpkin with Glue Dots.

I adhered the punkin’ to the card with some Glue Dots and then popped him and the square onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used Black Glimmer Paper for his Bow Builder Punch bow-tie.  I built the bow and wrapped some of the Happy Haunting Designer Washi Tape around the center and added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel (he’s obviously on his way to a pretty formal affair, so some bling is in order!).  Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue adhered the bow to the pumpkin.

Sparkly Seasons 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I popped the card front onto my Always Artichoke card base.  Then I added some eyes…..black ones to the BOO…and little tiny white eyes to spidey with my white gel pen.  And that was it for the front!

Sparkly Seasons 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The inside is a piece of Very Vanilla, adhered to a Pumpkin Pie mat.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Sparkly Seasons in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, as well as the spider web (and that spidey got a couple of eyes, too).  I also added the pumpkin patch image in the bottom corner in Tuxedo Black.  I colored it in with my Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler (leaves) and Always Artichoke (stems and grass) Stampin’ Write Markers.

The envelope is a Very Vanilla Medium envelope, with the addition of the spider web and pumpkin patch images on the front….

…and a liner from Happy Haunting DSP, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelits.

Et Voila!  A fun Happy Halloween to you card!  Hope that you like it!

Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour tonight before you go to bed and get you that extra hour of sleep!  Or at least the illusion of an extra hour, huh?  While I was looking for the clip art to add – I came across this: “The old Indian says – if the government cuts the top off a blanket and then sews it to the bottom of the blanket – is the blanket longer?!?”  I thought that was pretty funny.

Hope y’all have a great weekend – and I’ll be back tomorrow! 🙂
