Today’s card is quick and pretty durned easy! As we enjoy the Fall weather here in GA, it’s easy to think of little ghosties and goblins demanding tricks or treats. Of course, we don’t actually GET any trick-or-treaters where we live….but that doesn’t keep me from stocking up on “treats”. You know – just in case!! 😉
So I dug out some Happy Haunting DSP, a Spider-web Doily and the FaBOOlous sentiment from the Hostess stamp set called Six Sayings! And this is what I came up with. Take a look-see:
This card design was inspired by the Can You Case It Sketch Challenge #86. Head over there and see what all their designers have come up with, okay?
I started out by running a piece of Basic Black card stock in my Lucky Stars TIEF and then SNAILing it to my Happy Haunting DSP card front. To that, I adhered a Spider Web Doily with some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. A little of the doily hung over the edges of the card stock, so I just gave them a quick snip. Then to get the horizontal element of the sketch, I wrapped a piece of Happy Haunting Washi Tape around the card stock. Then I SNAILd the whole thing to a Blackberry Bliss mat.
I stuck a few Glue Dots under where I was going to put my sentiment, and ran multiple loops of Silver Metallic Thread around in a random loopy pattern.
The sentiment is from Six Sayings (a Holiday Catalog Hostess Set) – but the sentiment says FaBOOlous. I just wanted “Boo”, so I taped off the rest of the sentiment and then inked it up with Blackberry Bliss Ink. I stamped it onto a piece of Tangelo Twist card stock and then cut that out with one of my Lots of Labels framelits. I edged the little label with my Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker and then made a bunch of little tiny dots around the edge. I don’t know why. Seemed like the thing to do at the time! 🙂
I stuck the sentiment to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then popped that onto my Tangelo Twist card base with some more Dimensionals. A final little bit of bling with an Iced Rhinestone in the middle of my spider web (like a bright and shiny spider – only with no legs?) completed the front of the card.
I left the inside blank, just using a Very Vanilla card stock liner with a little more of the Happy Haunting DSP and a mat of Basic Black across the bottom.
Because I appear to be on an Envelope Liner kick, I cut a liner with the same spider web DSP and stuck it into a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Can’t help it, I’m just loving being able to use those Envelope Liner Framelits! 😉
Et Voila! A cute howdy-do for Halloween!
So – short post – cause it’s a quick and easy card to make. Those Spider Web Doilies instantly add impact to a card. Easy peasy!

Oh, I know! 😉
Cute card Mary! Love the spider web doily, perfect with the webby background. And I may or may not stock up more than once on treats during the halloween season myself…it would be very unfortunate if I…oh, I mean the trick-or-treaters…missed out on the chocolate. 😉
Thanks, Amy. It really would never do to run out of treats, when they’ve gone to so much effort to dress up and walk to your door and all! 😉
