As I sort of promised yesterday – yea, I really committed to it (“Maybe tomorrow I’ll make a card that totally matches it”)! – I DID in fact make a card that very nicely complements the pretty gift box I made yesterday. If you missed that, check it out here!
I used the new Flurry of Wishes stamp set and the matching Snow Flurry punch (yes, in a bundle for 15% off!) and a little more of the Season of Cheer DSP. AND – I used one of my fave new toys – the Envelope Liners Framelits! I’ve been wanting that die set for the longest time. Yes, I learned how to make custom liners for my custom envelopes. I even made a Tutorial on that! But, I’ve wanted this die set that would quickly make rounded-flap liners to match the SU! envelopes. And now I’ve got it! 🙂
Here’s what I came up with. Take a look-see:
Can you see how it ties into the box?
The inspiration for the design of my card is from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #285. Take a minute to go check them out when you get done here!
I did not do a square card, but the rest of the elements are definitely there! I started by running a panel of Whisper White card stock thru the Big Shot in my Softly Falling TIEF. Then I adhered that to a mat of Silver Foil with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.
I used a narrow strip of the Season of Cheer DSP and stuck it on another piece of the Silver Foil with the Liquid Glue – then I adhered that to the card front. I popped the card front onto a Whisper White card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The art piece started with a square of Whisper White card stock, and I heat embossed the sentiment from the Flurry of Wishes set in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I did make sure to use my Embossing Buddy on the card first! I adhered this panel to a mat of Silver Foil and then adhered the whole thing to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The Flurry of Wishes snowflakes are all heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder – don’t forget the Embossing Buddy!! – on Night of Navy Card Stock. I punched the two small snowflakes with the Snow Flurry Punch. The large snowflake I fussy cut. Yes, I fussy cut it. Now, you might be asking why I didn’t use the Flower Medallion Punch sitting in my punch box. The Flower Medallion punch that coordinates with this stamp. Yes. I asked myself the Very. Same. Question. So, if you own the Flower Medallion punch, don’t be like me. Use the punch. If you don’t have it – well, pull out those Paper Snips! It’s not THAT hard…. 🙂
I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to put the snowflakes on the card. The large one has Dimensionals on the left side and glue on the rest of it. The medium snowflake is popped up with the Dimensionals. And the smallest flake has a tiny piece of Dimensional under the top where it’s off the mat – and glue on the remainder. TMI? Sorry!
I blinged the snowflakes up with an Iced Rhinestone on the largest, and Rhinestone Basic Jewels on the other two And that did it for the front of the card!
On the inside, I heat embossed everything with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used the sentiment and some more snowflakes from Flurry of Wishes, and then I adhered the Whisper White liner to a Silver Foil mat and then to the card base.
And then I pulled out my new Envelope Liners Framelits and cut out a liner of the Season of Cheer DSP. I made it shorter than the die – I just let the die bleed over the edge of my DSP. I only had a strip of the DSP left – and I decided that was all the envelope needed anyway. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it! The liner dies work slick as can be! Definitely a good investment for me – I really like the added touch a liner gives an envelope. I ran a score line along the flap/liner to help with closing the envelope when the time comes and that was that!
Et Voila! A card and envelope to complement my gift box. Or just a wonderful Christmas card all by itself! Hope that you like!

Like it a lot…very nice with the box. Whole snow thing is appealing…have to get with the program here pretty soon!
Thanks, Mom. I thought it turned out to be a nice little set! 🙂
Love the colors, Night of Navy with Silver is so pretty! Fantastic framing around your card. 🙂
Thanks, Amy. One of your cards last week sort of “gave me permission” to use the foil for a mat. Before I saw your card – it was kind of like using DSP. Seemed a shame to cover it up! But, I love the shiny accent it gave the card. Thanks for the inspiration, as always! 🙂
Mary, this card is so nice! Love how it compliments yesterday’s box.
Thanks, Jari! 🙂
