Good morning, y’all! It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. We’ve got a theme challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table. I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!
Y’all know I love a fun fold so it was easy to come up with one for our challenge! Now – the goodies I used for today’s card – the Ocean Friends bundle and the Friends of the Ocean DSP – are all on the Last Chance list which means…time to grab them if you don’t have them already! Take a look-see:
Here was our challenge!
I started with a basic book fold card – but added an additional score line to turn it into an Easel Card! I scored the 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Melon Mambo cardstock at 5 1/2″, 6 3/4″ and 8 7/8″.
I folded the 5 1/2″ score line as a mountain (“regular”) and the 6 3/4″ score line in the opposite direction.

Using Liquid Glue between the 5 1/2″ and 6 3/4″ score lines, I adhered the front of the card base to the back – just in that 1 1/4” area. This made the “book” fold. Then I folded the 8 7/8″ line as a mountain – to make the easel!
I use Liquid Glue to adhere pieces of Friends of the Ocean DSP to Summer Splash mats and adhered them to the narrow book fold panel and to each of the easel panels.
To decorate the easel, I used the dies in the Ocean Friends set to cut several sea grasses from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and some coral from Summer Splash cardstock and Summer Splash 2024-2026 In Color Glimmer Paper. I used Liquid Glue to adhere the coral and grasses to the front easel panel – letting them stick up above the fold.
I used two lengths of Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine to add a figure-8 bow – adhering it with some Stampin’ Seal+.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the detailed lobster image in Calypso Coral ink. I inked the second lobster image – the “fill” – in Calypso Coral, stamped it off once on my scrap paper and stamped it over the top of the detailed image.
Then I used the coordinating Ocean Friends die to cut it out.
I adhered the lobster over the Baker’s Twine bow using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On a strip of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Ocean Friends sentiment in Melon Mambo ink. I snipped a banner into the end and then used Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to the easel.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Ocean Friends detailed crab image in Melon Mambo ink. I inked the second crab image – the “fill” – in Melon Mambo, stamped it off once on my scrap paper and stamped it over the top of the detailed image.
Then I used the coordinating Ocean Friends die to cut it out.
On a 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped an Ocean Friends sentiment in Melon Mambo ink. I added bubbles in Summer Splash ink.
I stood the easel panel up and then set the crab in place (where it would eventually go as the easel stop) and used it as a guide to stamp the Ocean Friends grasses a couple times in Lemon Lime Twist and a few more bubbles in Summer Splash ink.
Then I matted the panel on Summer Splash cardstock and adhered it to the inside of the card base.
Using Stampin’ Dimensionals – don’t be shy, use plenty!! – I adhered the die cut crab in place as the easel stop.
I added some new Holographic Resin Dots (coming on 6 May in the Online Exclusives) on the easel – and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Melon Mambo crab and Summer Splash bubbles on the front…
…and more Friends of the Ocean DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Well – Ocean Friends and Friends of the Ocean DSP for the win! This is one of my favorite suites – and if you DON’T have it already – don’t wait around! With it all being on the Last Chance list – these will only be available while supplies last! 🙂
I hope you like!
