Stampin’ Up! Alpine Painted Lavender Triple Z Fun Fold Birthday Card

Happy Sunday, y’all!  Hope you’re having a good weekend – and if you ventured out to the mall or…wherever – hope you got your shopping done and stayed safe.  And sane.  Staying sane on this shopping weekend is quite the trick! 🙂

My card today is my version of Karen Kzenacovik’s shoebox swap card from our retreat.  I didn’t have the stamp sets she used on her original version but…I pulled out that oh-so-handy (thank goodness I have it!) Alpine Air Kit sentiment set.  And along with the Painted Lavender and Spotlight on Nature die cuts and some pretty Perennial Lavender DSP – I created her Triple Z-Fold card.  Take a look-see:

This one started with three pieces of Pretty Peacock cardstock.

– Large card base – 4 1/4″ x 11″  – scored and folded at 2 3/4″ (mountain) and 5 1/2″ (valley)

– Center z-fold2 – 3/4″ x 1″ – scored and folded at 4 1/4″ (mountain) and 7″ (valley)

– Bottom z-fold – 1 1/2″ x 11″  – scored and folded at 5 1/2″ (mountain) and 8 1/4″ (valley

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered pieces of the Perennial Lavender DSP – in a couple of different patterns.  You can see them in the photo below.  Note – the piece of DSP in the top left corner (on the front panel of the large card base) – is small (1 1/4″ x 2 5/8″) – it only LOOKS like it’s as large as the entire front panel).  I just adhered it up there using a “normal” reveal on three sides of the DSP piece.

With all the DSP pieces adhered in place, I used Liquid Glue to adhere the center Z-fold – adhering the 4 1/2″ end to the front panel and the other end to the back panel of the large card base.

I repeated the exercise with the bottom Z-fold – adhering the 5 1/2″ end to the front of the large card base and the opposite end to the back panel – with the bottom edge of this piece aligned with the bottom edge of the large card base.

Thus was created the Triple Z-Fold.

On a 2 3/8″ Circle Punched piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Alpine Air Kit sentiment in Pretty Peacock Ink.

The mat for the sentiment was cut from Lost Lagoon cardstock using a large circle die from the Spotlight on Nature die set.

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals near the middle of the sentiment circle I adhered it to the Lost Lagoon die cut circle.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the matted sentiment to the front panel of the card base.

I added some Pretty Peacock and Highland Heather Painted Lavender die cut leaves using Liquid Glue.  Note: I snipped down one of the Pretty Peacock leaves to help it to fit better – and then adhered the little leftover piece with more Liquid Glue.

I added some Brushed Brass Butterflies and the card front was done!

On the back – I stamped a second Alpine Air sentiment in Pretty Peacock on a Basic White panel.

I adhered the panel to the back of the card base with Liquid Glue – and the card was done!

For my Basic White Medium Envelope – if I had the Painted Lavender stamp set here, I’d have stamped the grasses across the front like Karen did on hers.

But – I don’t have that one here so…I used some more of the Perennial Lavender DSP on the envelope flap.

And then I handed the whole card to my Mom who promptly mailed it off to a friend! 🙂

Et Voila!  The Triple Z-Fold card is one of the prettiest fun folds, I think – and it’s wonderful when you really want to showcase some gorgeous paper like this Perennial Lavender DSP!  The Spotlight on Nature dies are a go-to die set – all the pretty die cut circles you need!  And the foliage from Painted Lavender dies really captures lavender perfectly!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

I’m still in Colorado – Finn’s still in Georgia!  So..no new pictures till I get home.

Here’s a blast-from-the-past to hold you over! 🙂

From 20 Mar 2017:

Pretty sure you have to be tired of pictures of Finn sleeping in the bathroom while I take a bath.

I’m sorry.  But I can’t help it very much.  He just gets in the most cutest and adorablest positions ever.

Case in point.

Check the flopped ear.

I’m sorry for all you people who think you have the cutest dog ever living in your home.  It’s sweet that you think that, and you should keep on thinking it.  But…you’re just flat wrong. 😉

He’s right here in Fayetteville!
