Good morning and happy happy Hawwmp Day! Hope the week is going well for you – and if you’re on either coast – hoping that your weather looks better today than it has so far this week! Yikes!
My card today goes back to the pretty…err…BEAUTIFUL!…Beautiful Thistle stamp set and dies! I’ve used it before – but this time I went with more traditional thistle colors! I paired it with a little bit of By The Bay 6″ x 6″ DSP. Take a look-see:
The layout was inspired by the Sketch Saturday challenge.
I started by adhering some By The Bay 6″ x 6″ DSP to a piece of Soft Succulent cardstock to make the card front.
Next, I cut a bunch of small 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ strips of some Night of Navy paper from the DSP pack. Eleven of them, to be exact! And I adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue. I kept them generally in a line – but made each a little bit angled to keep it casual.
Next up, I wrapped some white Baker’s Twine a couple of time around the panel – ending with a knot at about the spot you can see the bow in the photo.
I cut two Beautiful Thistle Soft Succulent stems and two Evening Evergreen leaves. I also cut two flower bases from Soft Succulent Fine Shimmer Paper and two flower tops from Fresh Freesia Fine Shimmer Paper.
I adhered the two stems with Liquid Glue – overlapping them a bit.
Then I adhered the Soft Succulent flower bases to the Fresh Freesia flower tops with Liquid Glue.
I adhered the two completed flowers to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On a strip of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Beautiful Thistle sentiment in Night of Navy ink. Then I cut angled ends and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Using my Light Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blend, I lightly colored a length of Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. I didn’t color it solid – so it’s got a very very light tint to it. I wrapped it around my hand a few times, then used the Baker’s Twine to adhere it – finishing with a Baker’s Twine bow to hold the looped ribbon in place.
I added some Petal Pink Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins and the card front was done.
On the inside, I stamped a second Beautiful Thistle sentiment in Night of Navy on a Basic White panel. Using my Stamparatus, I used the Marker – to – Rubber coloring technique to color the small Beautiful Thistle flower using the Soft Succulent and Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Write Markers. I added a couple more of the Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Soft Succulent mat and into my Night of Navy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the small Beautiful Thistle image on the front – again using the Marker-to-Rubber technique…
…and more of the woodgrain By The Bay 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I sometimes forget that the By The Bay 6″ x 6″ DSP has NON-marine-y patterns in it, don’t you!? Admit it. You do! But – don’t! Cuz it helps to make this gorgeous paper pack even MORE versatile! Here it works perfectly with the wunnermus Beautiful Thistle bundle – Night of Navy, Soft Succulent and Fresh Freesia are so pretty together!
I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix
We’ve had a bit of a cold snap here the past day or two. Chilly during the day – but clear. At night – down to freezing.
My two boy-family-members have quite different responses to the cold.
Finn – ahhhhhhhhh! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wayne – waaaaaaahhhhh! 😩😩😩😩

Hummingbird feeders and coveralls — it’s a strange combo. The card is the most beautiful thistle card I’ve seen. Beautiful color combo. We are serious thistle haters – ranching legacy, but this is a beautiful card
Yep – it’s Spring in the south! 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️. Thank you so much, Sharon. And – yep – the IRL thistles are…NOT welcome sights here. Very pretty flowers but…yikes!
Such a beautiful card Mary! The colors and layout are perfect!! Poor Wayne…he needs to grow a Finn coat and then he’d be fine. 😉
Right?!! Of course, when summer hits – HE can unzip HIS! Then FINN will be the unhappy camper! Thanks very much, Amy! 🙂
Beautiful card, Mary…….the thistle set is one of my favorites……
