Happy Tuesday! Did you all have a good three-day weekend? Ours was a bit of a wash-out – it rained much of each day! Which meant – a lot of inside time for us! Not altogether a bad thing, really!
My card today is a special request – needed a masculine thank you for handyman work done well. Not hunting or fishing. Maybe some woods….hmmmm.
So – I put on my crafty thinking cap and…pulled out the Rugged Icons die set – with its power drill die. And then some Neutrals DSP – a couple of sentiments from Charming Sentiments. And then I let myself use some woodsy elements from the Grassy Grove set on the inside – I mean..the work was done at a Rocky Mountain house so….it seemed right! Take a look-see:
The sketch and photo from the FUSION challenge this week helped me to put together this simple layout.
I started by adhering some Night of Navy paper from the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP to a Crushed Curry mat for the card front. Then I matted a smaller – Basic Gray – piece on Crushed Curry and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.
I cut two third-from-largest Stylish Shapes circles from Night of Navy cardstock.
I adhered the top circle with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On the second circle, I stamped a Charming Sentiments sentiment in Versamark Ink, sprinkled it with white Basic Embossing Powder and then heated it with my Heat Tool.
I popped it onto the card front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I used the die from Rugged Icons to cut out a Smoky Slate power drill and adhered it to the top circle with Liquid Glue.
Using the same die – I cut the drill again from Mossy Meadow Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP – then used the pieces to Paper Piece the drill – adhering them all with little dabs of Liquid Glue.
I added a few Rustic Metallic Adhesive-backed Dots and the card front was done.
On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Charming Sentiments in Night of Navy on a Basic White panel. In the corner, I stamped two images from the Grassy Grove stamp set in Mossy Meadow.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Smoky Slate card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Grassy Grove meadow and pine trees on the front…
…and more Night of Navy Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! If you don’t have the Rugged Icons – I suggest you add it to your tool box – it’s really so uber versatile – you simply don’t know when you might need one of the cool shapes in this die set!
Charming Sentiments is a total workhorse – with or without the bundled Sentiment Silhouettes dies! And Grassy Grove is just…beautiful. And perfect! 🙂
I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix
Awesome card Mary! Love the colors, perfect design too! 🙂 Poor Finn, he was just helping to pick things up and put them away and he got in trouble. 😉
Sure – he “gets in trouble” SOOO much! Always in time out. No one ever loves on him. He’s very ‘bused! 😉 Thanks much, Amy! 🙂
Absolutely positively perfect!
Good! It’s in the mail! Thanks, Mom! 🙂
Perfect masculine handyman thank you card! I’ve looked at those icon dies a couple of times without paying attention to that drill! Another check mark for them! TFS. Finn evidently wasn’t as dry as he wanted to be! I understand—I feel soggy from all the rain too!
Yes – he totally wanted me to dry him off. Or…TUG ON THE TOWEL, MOM!! If not…I’ll just take it into the living room and rip it to shreds! LOL! Thanks, Susan – you need to think about adding these dies, for sure! 🙂
I LOVE this card…..meaning….I can really USE a card like this!! And I’m so GLAD you designed one I can copy (smile) Masculine cards really are hard. I’m glad i have these dies in my stash.
Finn looks a little guilty, but is just too sweet to ever be in trouble……right?
He is seldom in trouble and he knows it well. He TOTALLY uses that face to his FULL advantage!! LOL! I’m glad you have this die set – it’s such a sleeper and easy to miss – but…man. Is it handy! Thanks, Faith! 🙂
Great guy card! And I always love the added touch inside! And you pup has the sweetest face – how could he do any wrong?!?
He “never” does any wrong, that’s for sure. Innocent as driven snow! And he’s got us completely wrapped around his giant feet!! 😉 Thanks so much, Linda! 🙂
