Stampin’ Up! Updates from Maui Day 3!

Aloha from Maui!  As you might imagine yesterday dawned beautiful and clear (I sort of think they do that most of the time here!) and we were up and about and ready to roll. 

Okay – “ready” might be a bit of an exaggeration!  LOL!  But we DID get up and moving because yesterday was Blue Hawaii helicopter day!  Yes, we’d booked the Waterfalls of Maui and Molokai tour and this was the big day! Whoo-hoo!

We started with a quick and tasty breakfast from Stampin’ Up! – in a fun insulated tote that we get to keep!  We picked it up and went back to the room to eat on our balcony.

Once we arrived at the airport – we got a quick safety briefing and then it was off to our airplane – with Yoshi, our pilot.

At that point – I got a surprise!  My awesome upline, Amy Koenders, had secretly upgraded me to the front Copilot seat!!  Whoo-hoo!  Once a pilot – always a want-to-sit-in-the-front person!! 😉

We got a great group pic of us (they’ve got this down to a science, y’all!

And then we were off.

Not gonna fib – I sort of don’t trust helicopters, y’all – they just don’t seem natural to me.  And as soon as we lifted off – we BACKED away from our spot! LOL!  THAT for sure is not something we did in a fixed wing plane!

But – Yoshi was a total pro and being in the front and able to watch him was very reassuring (also?  I could keep my eye out for any red lights on the dash! 😉 )

We air taxied across the airport – yes, the same one we flew into on Saturday – and then headed out down the Maui coastline.

Yoshi gave us a great commentary as we headed up the coast – then…he took us up into our first valley to get a good look at some of the waterfalls.

As we continued up the coast – we saw beautiful natural features of the island…

…Including this blow hole…that wasn’t blowing cuz the surf was down!  But still pretty!

Then it was off across the water to Molokai – the Friendly Island!

Molokai boasts the highest sea cliffs in the world – and it’s spectacular to see from the air!

Then up into another valley to see more waterfalls…

When Yoshi hovered and turned the helicopter around – we got to look back the way we’d come!

Yeah – that’s for SURE something I couldn’t have done in my flying days! 😉

The other side of Molokai has really shallow water and the reef was visible up and down the coast!

We spent the rest of the flight heading back over to Maui – we saw Lahaina (which means The Cruel Sun – it’s very dry and arid there.  But apparently they really like Halloween and that’s the spot to go to celebrate!).

Then we popped over a ridge studded with wind turbines….

…and into the final leg of the flight.  Just ahead was Haleakule (“House of the Sun) – you can only see about 10,000 of the whole mountain – there’s another 19,700′ or so under the water.  If you measured from the sea floor – it’s taller than Mount Everest! 😳😳😳  Haleakule was shrouded in clouds so it looked pretty cool!

Then it was airfield-in-sight and our tour was over!

We headed out and grabbed a little lunch, hit Costco for more sunscreen and then headed back to the hotel.

When we got into the room, another cool pillow gift was waiting for us – a gift card from Stampin’ Up!  Not sure WHAT we’ll be able to find to buy with it – but…we’ll put our minds to it and come up with something! 😉  What we WON’T need is new sunglasses!  Those were ANOTHER gift – a pair of RayBans for each of us! Thank you, Stampin’ Up!

So…Day 3 is in the books – feels like it’s flying by!  Today is our Zip-lining excursion!  Not sure if I’m excited or skeered!  Probably both!  I’ll share some pics with you soon! 🙂
