Stampin’ Up! Hoot Hoot Hooray You Made My Day!

So…as I write this on Sunday evening, we’re waiting for the Severe Weather Outbreak to hit.

That’s what they call it.  Severe.  Weather.  Outbreak.

Scheduled to hit here around 2 in the morning.

Of.  Course.

I know you guys think I’m all cool and stuff, but…when it comes to Severe.  Weather.  Outbreak?

Uhm…no.   Not even a little cool.

So – if any of my card directions don’t make sense, it’s cuz 3/4 of my brain is trying to figure out how to catch the cat when the weather app screams SEVERE.  WEATHER.  OUTBREAK…at 2 and I have to go to the basement.  She is historically…less than interested in such nonsense.  Which means – I might have to leave her on her own.  🙁

Also?  I would really like to not lose all my plants.

Let’s all hope that Severe.  Weather.  Outbreak. fizzles, okay?

Okay – enough of that wussy melodrama.  Let’s talk card – since that’s really why you’re here! 🙂

I pulled out an adorable little set from the SU! Beginner’s Brochure – called Hoot Hoot Hooray and made a fun little thank you card! Take a look-see:

If you haven’t seen the Experience Creativity Brochure – check it out.  It’s got some fun things for anyone who likes to card make – regardless of their experience level!

The layout for my card is from the Fab Friday sketch challenge this week.

And the fun colors are from the Color Throwdown challenge.

I started with a Whisper White panel.  In the corner, in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, I stamped the flower from Hoot Hoot Hooray (I masked off the sentiment with a sticky note).  Then I colored it with my Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends Combo.  The center, I colored with my Light Mango Melody Blend – then added some Melon Mambo dots with my Stampin’ Write Marker.

Then,  I embossed the panel in the new Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder and matted it on Mango Melody to create the card front.

On another piece of Whisper White, in Mango Melody ink, I stamped the little owl (again masking off the sentiment).  I colored him with my Mango Melody Blends Combo and then I decided he needed to be black.  So, I traced over the body, feet and eyes with my Journaling Pen.  Then I traced his…feathers?….with my Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write Marker.

I cut him out with the 3 3/4″ long Stitched Nested Label and popped him onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Now – this is how he looked at this point.  Check the eyes.  They’re…scary.  Sorta like a zombie owl…

I fixed that right-quick with the Journaling Pen! 😉

For the sentiments, I inked them in Melon Mambo – masked off the images (these sentiments are on the owl and flower image stamps) and stamped them on Whisper White.  Then I punched them out with my Classic Label Punch.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals and a little Liquid Glue to adhere the sentiments and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added the flower again in Tuxedo Black – coloring it with the Blends and Stampin’ Write Marker as I’d done on the front.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mango Melody mat and into my Granny Apple Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Hoot Hoot Hooray flower on the front…

…and some Mango Melody Brights 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et voila!  Hoot Hoot Hooray is SUCH a cute stamp set – covering a myriad of occasions!  I hope you like!

I hope you’ll check it – and the other fun goodies – out in the brochure above!

Cute card! Really want to know how you made out with the Severe Weather Outbreak????? Hope all is well!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – all is fine. And VERY glad it’s over!! Thanks, Carole! 🙂

  2. Sweet card! Your little owl is too cute. 🙂 As for Finn…well, sometimes squirrel moments happen, even to the best guard dogs. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – it’s hard to stay forever-focused on the job at hand!! Thanks! 🙂

  3. What a cutie that owl is! I like how you combined the flower and owl for your card and the coloring is bright and cheerful! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Amanda – appreciate you taking time to leave a comment! 🙂

  4. Angie Latham

Cute, cute, card, but more importantly, how did you fare, last night? Hope all is OK!!!

    • stampsnlingers

We did okay – it was a long night – I don’t sleep well (at all?) when that kind of weather is coming. 😉 But – it all went okay in the end for us – not so much for a lot of other folks in GA, I fear. Thanks, Angie! Appreciate it! 🙂

  5. Heather Heroldt

Such a cute owl, Mary – I totally forgot about this set! Love the bright colors, and the fancy embossed background – lovely! Thanks so much for playing at Fab Friday!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Heather – it’s easy to forget about the sets in that brochure, isn’t it?! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  6. Claudia Ingram

Too funny – Feelin’ Finn’s pain. It’s a daily (hourly?) thing with me!

  7. Cute card. I don’t always look at those brochures, so I had missed that set. Dang. As for Finn, we all can get distracted and forget mid-doing just what we were doing. That is too funny though, halfway under the fence! Glad the storm missed you. Hope your plants fared ok also.

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – happens to me all the time! 😉 Take a look at the cute stamp sets in that brochure – there’s some good ones! Thanks, Julie! 🙂
