Stampin’ Up! Geared Up Garage Sneak Peek

Happy Saturday, y’all!  Today is our Quarterly in-person version of our Amy’s Inkin’ Krew team meeting!  I so look forward to these meetings each quarter – we have such a great group of ladies – both in Amy’s direct team and in my team (the Critters-N-Creatin’ Krew!) – and we all get together and have a wonderful time!  Oh – and it’s my day for Panera!  Love!

I know I’ll have some fun projects to share with you in the upcoming days!  Yes – we DO make cards at our meetings! 😉

Speaking of fun projects and sneak peeks, how’s about one today?  This is a new set in the Occasions catalog (coming on 3 Jan 18) that will be perfectly perfect for Father’s Day – or, for anyone that loves classic cars!  It’s called Geared Up Garage and it’s cool! Take a look-see:

The layout – which is perfect for the big gears die in the new Garage Gears Thinlits – is from the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge this week.

Check out this fun stamp and framelits bundle!

And there’s paper, too – called the Classic Garage 6″ x 6″ DSP!

So – I started with one of the more plain designs in the Classic Garage DSP and first embossed it in the Subtle Dynamic TIEF.  Then I used my Simply Scored board to create a grid.  I scored across the card front – lightly!! – at each inch.  Then I turned the paper 90 degrees and did it again.

The end result looks like asphalt.

Humor me!

With Liquid Glue, I matted the “asphalt” to a Blueberry Bushel card stock panel for the card front.

I used the big, detailed die in the Garage Gears Thinlits and cut out the large element from a piece of Galvanized Metallic Paper.  I also cut two smaller sets of gears at the same time.

With Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, I popped the big gears onto the card front.

I adhered the smaller gear die (with the three gears) to the card front with Liquid Glue, then made a loop of new Black/Silver 1/4″ Striped Metallic Ribbon (available 3 Jan) and adhered it to the card front with a couple of Glue Dots.

The sentiment, from Geared Up Garage, is heat embossed in Silver on Blueberry Bushel, then cut with the matching die in the Garage Gears Thinlits.  I popped it over the ribbon and gears with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final, single, gear die cut is popped over the large shape with a Stampin’ Dimensionals.  To finish up, I adhered a little wrench embellishment from the Classic Garage Metal Elements with a Glue Dot and the card front was done!

On the inside, I inked up the “cloud” (of exhaust?!?) image from Geared Up Garage in Blueberry Bushel and stamped it off once, then stamped a Whisper White panel.  Over that, I heat embossed a second sentiment in Silver.  Finally, I added some gears in Basic Gray ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Blueberry Bushel mat and into my Basic Gray card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a full-strength Blueberry Bushel cloud and some Basic Gray gears on the front…

…and some more Classic Garage DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  What fun this Geared Up Garage stamp set and bundled Garage Gears Thinlits is going to be as we head into Spring!!  Anyone who appreciates a classic ride is going to love this suite of goodies!!  Hope you like – and will be adding it to your Wish List!

Finn Fan Fix

I’m sure sorry my poor little dog-a-lus has such a hard life.

It really is a pretty awful thing to see, I know.

I’m sorry.

  1. This set will definitely be on my order! Sweet Finn.

  2. What a cool design Mary! Love the way that you did the background. And poor Finny…he definitely has it rough. Looks like he was trying to read the paper and you interrupted him. Ha! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Not the newspaper – a catalog. He’s kind of got a problem with online shopping… 😉 Thanks, Amy! 🙂

This set would’ve been perfect for my daddy. He was the best at working on cars and lawn mowers, and really, anything with a motor! I love this card. The metallic paper is perfect for those gears. Poor Finn–it is a hard life being the cutie.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – being a star is a lot of work! Poor kid! Thanks, Susan – I wish your Daddy was still around for you to make Father’s Day cards for! 🙁
