Stampin’ Up! Animal Outing Big Time Thanks!

Well – we made it thru another week!  It’s Friday! Whoo-hoo!

Guess what else?  Yep – 14 days.  In 14 days I’ll leave here and head down to the airport to fly home the next day.  Cuz two days after that…we’re leavin’ on a jet plane for Washington! Double-triple-QUADRUPLE WHOO-HOOO!

For now, though – let’s get down to business!

Not monkey business.

Nope.  GIRAFFE business!  Today’s card features a long-necked even-toed ungulate (aka – an adorable giraffe!) from the new Animal Outing stamp set – which is handily bundled with the Animal Friends Thinlits.  I added it to some Animal Expedition DSP and a little dry embossing.  Take a look-see:

This one is for the Global Design Project challenge – which is a CASE-the-Designer challenge.  This week it’s the talented Charlet Mallett – and here’s her inspiration card!

I started with a portrait-oriented card base of Whisper White and I embossed the front of the base in the new Climbing Vine TIEF.

On top of that, matted on Call Me Clover, is a fun piece of Animal Expedition DSP, adhered with Liquid Glue.

For the banner on the inspiration card, I used another design in the Animal Expedition DSP pack – cutting the end with the Banner Triple Punch and adhering it with Liquid Glue.  I wanted a doily of some sort – but, none of them were as big as I thought the card needed.  So…I cut one with the die in the Beautiful Layers Thinlits from some Call Me Clover card stock and stuck it on with a little more Glue.

The middle panel is a piece of plain Whisper White, and I added some faux stitches with the Call Me Clover Stampin’ Write Marker.  I deliberately made the stitches of differing lengths – playing off the lines in the Lemon Lime Twist DSP banner.

I popped that panel on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and turned to my sweet ungulate.

I stamped the giraffe from the Animal Outing stamp set in Crushed Curry on Whisper White.  In fact – I stamped TWO of him/her.  Then I cut them both out with the matching die in Animal Friends.  In a brutal move, I chopped off the head of one of the die cut giraffes.

With Liquid Glue, I adhered the still-headed die cut near the top of the stitched panel.  Then, below that, I added the headless giraffe.

I made a sentiment banner by stamping the Animal Outing sentiment in Lemon Lime Twist on a Whisper White strip and adding Call Me Clover stitches.  Then I adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional at each end – covering the “gap” in the giraffe’s neck!

I tied a little bow of Pineapple Punch 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon and added it with a Glue Dot over top of a few leaves cut from Call Me Clover card stock and Animal Expedition DSP using the leaf die in the Animal Friends Framelits!  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I used my Call Me Clover, Lemon Lime Twist and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Markers to color the cute little frog-and-branch image and stamped it on a Whisper White panel.  Then I added the giraffe in Crushed Curry.

I added my faux stitches, adhered the panel to a Call Me Clover mat with Liquid Glue and then into my card base.  And the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Animal Outing giraffe and frog on the front…

…and then I added the giraffe on the back of the envelope flap…

But wait!  One of the fun dies in the Beautiful Layers Thinlits creates an envelope liner, so….

Et Voila!  Look how long-and-lovely her neck is!  All with no fussy cutting thanks to the Animal Friends Thinlits that so perfectly coordinate with the bundled Animal Outing stamp set.  And the Animal Expedition DSP adds just the right pop of color.  Hope you like!
