Stampin’ Up! Calligraphy Essentials Project Kit!

Mornin’, y’all!  I’m headed to CA.  Next stop?  Alaskan Cruise!  Whoo-hoo!  Just gotta get thru a few weeks of work and then it’s off to see the whales and bald eagles!  And…maybe partake of a midnight chocolate buffet!

For today, I wanted to share a really cool card kit in the new catalog.  It’s called the Calligraphy Essentials Project Kit!

What’s fun about this kit is the sheets of “practice” shapes and letters that come with.

Before I assembled the cards, I gathered up the Calligraphy Essentials stamp set, Blushing Bride and Pool Party ink, and my Coastal Cabana and Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Write Markers.  Plus some Stampin’ Dimensionals – which you know I’ve got a ton of laying around!  This is a “Project Kit” – which means you buy the stamp set and the kit separately.  And you provide the “extras” – like ink and adhesives. 🙂

Then I spent a few minutes learning to make the basic strokes to create calligraphy lettering.  I also watched this handy video from Stampin’ Up!

Then – it was time to put the pretty – and quick! – cards together!  I stamped the sentiments from the Calligraphy Essentials stamp set in Powder Pink or Pool Party on the die cut labels in the project kit.  Then I used the Lovely Lipstick…

…or Coastal Cabana Marker to color the letters – using the techniques I’d practiced on the sheets!

The cards – there are 16 pre-decorated cards in the set – 8 in the Pool Party/Coastal Cabana theme and 8 in the Blushing Bride/Loveley Lipstick combination – are quick and easy to assemble.  Stamp the outline, color with the Markers and pop the label onto the card front with Dimensionals.  Done! 🙂

Each card design also has a matching, pre-printed envelope (no nekkid envelopes!).

Et Voila!  Bing-bada-boom!  16 wonderful cards in just a minute!  And – you’ve learned some of the basic skills needed to hand letter on your own!  Or – if you’re hand-lettering-challenged like I am – you can always continue to use the Calligraphy Essentials stamp set to “help” you letter your creations!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Well – we’re getting about to the end of new pictures and new FFF’s – since I’m on my way to CA!

But – I did get a so-cute picture that I just had to show you.

I think I’ve mentioned that Katy (the cat Katy not the pony Cady) likes to pilfer bites of Finn’s food from his bowl.

There’s nothing that gets his wiggle-butt moving quicker than me saying “Finn – get your breakfast – KATY’S EATING IT!”. 🙂

Usually he moves in and she leaves – cuz…dog slobber/breath.  Yuk!

But – the other day…

Yea – that happened.  Seriously – how cute is this picture?!?

  1. I’ve been eyeing this set but I still dunno. I took a class in calligraphy back in the day, had all the pens, etc., and did about two things with it. I think I could get it for a door prize or some kind of promo. I do know that Finn and Katy have the cutest back ends! Precious moment.

  2. It is an adorable photo! Thanks for sharing. Nice kit, and you did some great cards there. No one would know you are calligraphy challenged!
