Stampin’ Up! Hand Delivered Big Wishes Fun Fold!

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Monday – and I’ve entered The Final Countdown!  Bleh.  Just 4 more days and then…I’m leavin’-on-a-jet-plane! 🙁  Did I already say…bleh??

But – we’ve got a week!  So – let’s start it with a super fun fun-fold, shall we?  If you were able to join me last night on my Facebook Live video to see how I made this – thanks for spending part of your weekend with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the instant-ish replay – here ’tis!

To decorate this particular card-within-a-card card, I used lots of new 2018-2020 In Colors and the fun Big Wishes stamp set.  On the inside, you’re going to find a little bit from the host-exclusive Hand Delivered stamp set.  Take a look-see:

I played along with this week’s Watercooler Wednesday Challenge!

And – I learned how to do this particular fun-fold from my friend Sue Prather’s card that she posted on her blog last week.  You can check it out right here!

This kind of card is – literally – a card-within-a-card.

I used two pieces of Blueberry Bushel card stock to create the two cards.  The first piece – cut at 4 1/4″ x 8″ and scored and folded at 5 1/2″.  I added two pieces of the new 2018-2020 In Color Designer Series Paper to the front flap and the larger inner panel.  Both pieces are matted on Lovely Lipstick.

I stamped the two images from the Hand Delivered set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a White Panel.  I added the little sentiment in Lovely Lipstick.  The skirt looked just perfect for a little paper-piecing, so…I stamped the image on a piece of Pineapple Punch DSP, fussy cut just the skirt and adhered it with Liquid Glue.  Using my Ivory Stampin’ Blend, I colored her legs and fingers.  I matted the panel on Lovely Lipstick and added it to the larger card base.

The smaller (inner) card is 3″ x 8″, scored and folded at 4″.  For the front, I stamped the big and beautiful sentiment from the Big Wishes set in Lovely Lipstick, using my Stamparatus.  Around the corners, I added the little flower image in Tuxedo Black and colored them with my Call Me Clover, Pineapple Punch and Grapefruit Grove Stampin’ Write Markers.  I matted the panel on Lovely Lipstick and then to the front of the card with Liquid Glue.

I didn’t add a sentiment to the inside, choosing to leave it blank – which means it could be a birthday card, a graduation card, or any celebration!  I did repeat the four flower images from the Hand Delivered set.  I matted it on Lovely Lipstick and then in to the smaller card base.  Then I adhered the smaller card into the larger card with Liquid Glue.  You can see on the video how to do it – but essentially it’s just centered on the back panel.  Do be sure it opens opposite the larger card! 🙂

On the front, I used a Glue Dot to adhere a large Tinted Faceted Button – it acts as a keep-it-closed device.  I made sure that the button just overlaps the corner of the small card when it’s all closed up.  A final Glue Dot adhered a little bow tied with a double of length of Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine and that was it for the card.

I added more of the Hand Delivered floors to the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope…

…and a little more Pineapple Punch 2018-2020 DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is another one of those folds that looks complicated – but…sooooo isn’t!  And it gives you a lot of real estate to decorate, doesn’t it?  I really love how these two new stamp sets coordinate with each other – and I am absolutely in love with the new In Colors! So bright and cheerful – and they really do go very well with each other!  Hope you like! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

We had an intruder the other day.

It was pretty scary.

My protector stared.  My protector barked.

Like crazy.  And folks – we’re talking Rottweiller-Doberman-Masstiff-esque barking.  I can tell you that – assuming he’s awake! – no one, but NO ONE, is sneaking up on me!

Anywho…once I got him to be quiet, we began to stalk the intruder…

You have to approach these things very very carefully…

Then as long as your mom has your back – you can just go right up and sniff the heck out of them!

This crazy alien intruder was suitably chastised and dispatched.  And likely won’t make the mistake of challenging Finn again!

Phew! 🙂

  1. What a pretty card! Love that fun fold design and the colors are perfect! Ha…yes, heart shaped balloons are one scary intruder. So glad that Finn attacked/sniffed it to make sure that it wan’t going to get you… 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes. He protects me quite fiercely. And frequently from BEHIND me!! 😉 Thanks much, Amy! 🙂

  2. I must watch the part of the video for that which eye have not seen (see what I did there?) I’m interested in the reinking. I reinked my Early Espresso the other day and now it stamps unevenly. I have never had that problem before. The pad feels strange as well. I figured Finn would pop the intruder to see if there was a message inside 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

He wasn’t getting QUITE that up-close-and-personal with it! Being Verrrry careful! I hope you can get your pad to work better – might need some more spreading around. Thanks, Karen! 🙂 And yes. I did SEE what you did there! 🙂

  3. Kate

Ah…the perversity of an inanimate object. Must keep those aliens in check or who knows what havoc they may wreak. Where there’s one, can the others be far behind? I think they always send a vanguard. Or…maybe just a test balloon?

    • stampsnlingers

I don’t know. But they’re wondering what the heck happened to their compatriot, for sure! We keep a close eye out now…JIC! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  4. Great, brave protector there!
Those look like flowers on the envelope, not floors! 🙂 Don’t you just love autocorrect??
Pretty card, but a bit bright for my personal taste. I will have to try one of that particular fold. Seems I am on a folded card kick lately.

    • stampsnlingers

I know – me, too! I especially like the EASY ones!! Can’t wait to see what you make, Julie! Thanks! 🙂

Enjoyed your video last night and loved your Finn story today.

Thanks so much, Gerri! I really appreciate you watching! 🙂

  6. Great video! Sorry I missed it last night. I was working and forgot to look at the clock until 8:30 Iowa time! I always feel like I missed the party when I miss your video.

    • stampsnlingers

We’re a party group, for sure! I hope you were able to get your work done and then have a good sleep, my friend! Thanks so much! 🙂

  7. Ellie Peckler

Mary, what a pretty and cheerful card. Thank you for sharing this fun fold; definitely going to try it! And thank goodness for your fierce fur baby. – Ellie

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – I think he’d be pretty fierce – or at least SOUND like he was fierce! I appreciate his willingness to tell me something’s up. Even…if it isn’t! Thanks so much, Ellie! 🙂

  8. Rita R

First thing this morning I watched your joy card video …. as always, you put together a great card design! Love the idea of that sign-holding lady and all the different sentiments that could be placed there (including computer generated ones)! During your video I was greatly impressed by Finn’s barking! He DID sound just like a Rottweiller! Wow!

    • stampsnlingers

Right?!? He’s a pretty fierce dude (at least…vocally!)! No burger-less had better come here or they’ll be so sorry!😳😳 Thanks, Rita! 🙂

  9. Love the bright and cheerful colours you’ve used! You’re right – it could work for almost any occasion. Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday. P.S. Love the Finn stories!

Thanks, Gail! And yes – he’s quite the story-teller! 😉 Appreciate you coming by! 🙂

  10. Great video, Mary. I love that fun fold. You’ve created such a lovely card using the Hand Delivered hostess set along with the Big Wishes set. I love how brilliant those new colours look! Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

The new colors are amazing! Thank you so much, Heidi! Appreciate you stopping by. 🙂

  11. Kathy Fennell

Hey Mary! Love the card and video! The colors are so bright and the fun fold is so cool! 😉 Love that fierce Aussie of yours and his adventures. What are you going to do without him while your in Cali? Try not to stress to much this week I think that your are a very organized person and actually have yourself covered more then you think! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so much, Kathy! Being away from him is definitely something I’m worrying over – I’ll miss him something awful! 🙁 And thanks for the kind words – I’ll be okay. It’ll be better when I’m past the getting there and doing the BEING there. Cuz…then we’ll be on the downhill side of it! 🙂

  12. Susan K

I’m really into your fun folds and love what you did with this one. I moved on past that stamp set, not having any ideas what to do with it! You are so creative! Glad Finn is on the lookout. Isn’t it uncanny that they can pick out new things and let you know they are there? I joined the FB Live after his barking so need to go hear that part!

    • stampsnlingers

Definitely go listen – he sounds so fierce! Thanks, Susan – I’m glad you like the card – it’s a fun fold. As it were… 🙂
