Stampin’ Up! Rooted in Nature Sneak Peek

Happy Hawwmp Day, y’all!  I’m going to be pretty darned glad when this week is over.  It’s sorta sucked so far!

And – that suck-age has sure sapped my creative mojo today.  It took forever for inspiration to hit.  I borrowed some ideas from the wonderful samples for the Rooted in Nature stamp set and other products in the new Nature’s Poem Suite.  You’ll all be able to order these goodies from the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalog in June!  For now – take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from the current Fusion Challenge.

And I made this for my neighbor who drove madly to our rescue on Tuesday morning!

I started with some of the pretty (but not too “precious”) paper from the Nature’s Poem DSP (1 June) and matted it on Tranquil Tide for the card front.

The middle panel is Copper Foil.  First, using the three leaf embossing dies in the Nature’s Roots Framelits, I embossed a bigger-than-I-needed panel – then I cut it down to size and matted it on Tranquil Tide.

I ran a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the Copper Foil panel and used it to adhere a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon – wrapping it around and securing it in the back.  On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the large oak image from Rooted in Nature in Tranquil Tide, then I cut it with the largest circle Stitched Shapes Framelits die.

On another piece of Whisper White, I stamped the three-leaf image from Rooted in Nature in new Grapefruit Grove ink (avail 1 June) – I stamped it twice without re-inking.  Then I cut them with their matching die from the Nature’s Roots Framelits.

I adhered some of the leaves to the card front with Liquid Glue, then I popped the stamped Stitched Shapes circle on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added the final leaf image to the Whisper White circle with Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment, I stamped both sentiments (from the Rooted in Nature set) in Early Espresso on a strip of Crumb Cake, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line them up.  I snipped the ends and then sort of “rumpled” the strip to distress it a bit.  It’s adhered with Liquid Glue.

To finish off the card front, I added a True Gentleman Button and a little bow of Linen Thread with Glue Dots.

On the inside, I used two of the leaf stamps from Rooted in Nature to stamp up the side of a Whisper White panel.  I used Grapefruit Grove and Tranquil Tide – stamped off twice before stamping the panel.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Tranquil Tide mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Rooted in Nature leaves up the side…

…and I gave the envelope flap some more of the Nature’s Poem DSP.

Et Voila!  I know its got a little pinkish-ness and a bow, but…I think it’s organic enough to be okay for my friend.  I love this new Rooted in Nature bundle – being able to cut out all the images with the Nature’s Roots Framelits is awesome!  Go ahead – just write it on your gotta-have-it list so you’ll be ready come 1 June!  Or…you could always join the team first thing in May and pick this bundle for your Starter Kit!

Just sayin’! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

Today is a better day in Finn-landia.

He’s still at the vet – today’s his surgery to flush and clean his sinuses and then stitch him up.

He’ll always have a hole in his head.

So if he’s acting like a goof, I can say “You’re acting like you’ve got a hole in your head.”

And he’ll roll his eyes and point to his noggin like…”uhm…hello!!?”

I let him spend the night there – he’s sleeping good (and I needed a little more sleep before I’m doing nurse duty) and is comfortable.

I wanted to thank you all for the wonderful comments and prayers and well-wishes.  I was gobsmacked by the love for my little Man.

So – all that made me decide to christen y’all as an Official Finn Fan Club.

And you’ve got a sign and everything! 🙂

The lighted sign – that makes it “official”.

Now y’all go to work on your secret handshake!

Glad to be a proud member of the Finn Fan Club! I will be thinking of the little guy today through his surgery. Keep us posted on how he handles the surgery today and his recovery status. Will be sending prayers and good thoughts throughout this. Guess I better add a few for you also that you have the where-with-all to get through all this.

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you very much, Barbara! I’m so grateful for you and all the FFC member’s for their wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery! I appreciate y’all so much – and so would he if that was a dog thing! 🙂

  2. Susan K

Praying Finn’s surgery and recovery go well today. Hope you had a good night’s sleep! I’m proud to be an official FFClub member. Your neighbor will love the card. My hubby says bows look nice so it’s a finishing touch, not a pinkishness. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Splet pretty good until I started fretting over whether he’ll come home still “Finn” – or whether this whole thing will change his personality. I guess we’ll all see together and be waiting for the signs that “he’s fully back”! Thank you so much – and tell your hubby thanks for the male validation, Susan! 🙂

  3. So glad things are better with Finn and praying that the surgery goes well. Also praying for strength and comfort for you.
Your card is a perfect example of why I make cards. It is a way to show appreciation and love to others…to me, a handmade card does that.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful, the good and the bad. And thank you for our Finn Fan Club designation and sign!! Woo-Hoo!

    • stampsnlingers

Well – a sign seemed like the least I could do to acknowledge the love that’s come our way these past couple of days!! And you’re exactly right – being able to make a card that says exactly the right thing at exactly the right time is really why we do this!! Thanks so much, Julie! 🙂

  4. well I would be a proud Aussie to be in Finns Fan Club. seeing he is an Aussie and he does remind me of a once loved farm dog of ours when I was somewhat younger. Prayers for all of you our fur friends are
    so special.

    • stampsnlingers

well – you’re definitely in, Rosalie! Thank you so much! I appreciate all y’all very much indeed!

  5. Paula Poindexter

    Praying!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you, Paula! I appreciate it very much! 🙂

  6. Rita R

Have whispered several prayers for you and Finn since learning about his accident. I’ve been a Finn Fan for quite a while now and always look forward to your posts and photos that you share with all of us. I have a tri-color Collie named Buddy whose coloring and looks are very similar to Finn’s (except for Buddy’s long Collie nose) …. so I have a special place in my heart for Finn. I agree that your neighbor is going to just love this beautiful card …. the sentiment states perfectly what’s on your heart!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so much for the prayers, Rita! I know they’re helping! Give your Buddy a pat for me! 🙂

  7. Susan Stetina

Praying Finn’s surgery goes well today. Isn’t it amazing how our pets become like our children? They really do become a member of the family. Give him a big hug and a kiss for me!

    • stampsnlingers

They do indeed. And it happens in a heartbeat – I was half in love with him before we ever went to get him, I think! 🙂 Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂

  8. Thanks for the update on Finn Mary! I’m sure he’s going to recover very nicely, he’s still a young-un yet and full of vim and vigor! I love being part of the Finn Fan Club! You get some more rest now so you can be 100% when the little man gets home!

    • Sorry Mary, this is Sue, I meant to leave my name not my blog!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – he’s pretty tough! Thank God – he needed to be tough this week. Thanks so much, Sue! 🙂

  9. Kate

When the inspiration hit it did good! I, too, am grateful for the help from your neighbor!!!
Prayers continue for the Finn…and for his Mom.

  10. Beth's Fancy Stamping

So glad Finn is mending, you will be surprised how quickly he recovers from surgery! Don’t let him fool you into playing poor pitiful me. Smart dogs like him are very manipulative when they know you are feeling so bad for them…..glad you weren’t TDY when it happened. Continued prayers for you both. Hug him for me…

    • stampsnlingers

I know – I’m going to have to steel myself – cuz…he’s got my number for darned sure. On GOOD days! 😉 And – yes, I figured you meant “hug” not “hit” so I fixed it! Thanks so much, Beth! 🙂

  11. Beth's Fancy Stamping

    HUG- not hit…..

  12. Barbara Corum

Praying all continues to go well and Finn has a speedy recovery. Hope you can get some rest before he comes home. Always look forward to hearing what he’s up to. Precious baby!!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes, Barbara! He is awfully sweet – it hurts me when he’s hurting! But – he’s on the mend now! 🙂

  13. Robbie Miller

Prayers and Hugs for Finn and you !!
Hope he gets to come home soon !
    Hugs 🙂 !

    • stampsnlingers

Me, too, Robbie. Hopefully tonight! 🙂 Thanks so much! 🙂

  14. Such a beautiful card Mary!! I am sure that your neighbor will love it. 🙂 So happy to hear that Finn is on the mend, looking forward to seeing him running at full speed…just not running in places where he’ll get kicked in the noggin again! 🙂 And yep, the lighted sign makes it official. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

I thought it did! Once the handshake is established, it’ll probably go viral! 🙂 Thanks so much! 🙂

  15. Sharon

    • stampsnlingers
