Stampin’ Up! Under the Sea of Textures Sneak Peek

Good Monday, y’all.

I mean – it’s definitely Monday.  I guess the “good” part remains to be seen, huh?? 🙂

So – if you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video, thanks for spending part of your weekend with me!  I do appreciate it!  If not, but you’d like to watch, here’s the sort-of-but-not-really instant replay on YouTube!

One the of really fun new Suites that you’ll see in June, in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, is the Tranquil Textures Suite.  It includes, among other things, the Sea of Textures stamp set, the bundled Under the Sea Framelits and the absolutely gorgeous Tranquil Textures DSP.  I used all of those in my card for today.  Take a look-see:

I used the simple Freshly Made Sketches challenge for my layout.

And my color scheme is from the Color Throwdown challenge.

I started by embossing some of the Balmy Blue paper from the Tranquil Textures DSP (available on 1 June) in the Seaside TIEF, then I matted it on a piece of Pineapple Punch card stock (one of the new 2018-2019 In Colors!) for the card front.

The next layer is a second design from Tranquil Textures, matted on Pineapple Punch and adhered with Fast Fuse to the card front.

I used dies – most of them, actually! 🙂 – to create the pieces of my collage.  I cut the “netting” from some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, and some coral and grass from Vellum card stock, Soft Seafoam (a beautiful new Subtle in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog), and Tranquil Tide.  I also cut some Soft Seafoam and Tranquil Tide sand dollars!

My octopus came about with some help from my Stamparatus.  I first inked it in Pineapple Punch.  Then I sponged his arms with Tranquil Tide – and stamped it again!  Then I cut him with his die.

As I started to build my collage, the first layer is the Dazzling Diamonds net, followed by some Crumb Cake Twine from the new Nature’s Poem Baker’s Twine pack.  I used as couple of Glue Dots to wind a few loops.

Then I began to add the pieces and parts with Liquid Glue.  With the coral and grasses down, I added a sentiment.  I stamped the Sea Of Textures sentiment in Tranquil Tide on Whisper White, then used a banner die from the new Lakeside Framelits (coming on 1 June) to cut it out.  I snipped a little off the left end – to make it shorter – and added it with Dimensionals.

I popped the octopus on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – both regular and mini sized.  Finally – I added Sand Dollars and Starfish with Liquid Glue.  To finish off the card front, I added a bevy of beautiful Share What You Love Artisan Pearls (yep – 1 June).

On the inside, I added a Sea of Textures “net” image in Pineapple Punch and a couple of Tranquil Tide corals to the bottom of a Whisper White panel.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Pineapple Punch mat and into my Tranquil Tide card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added more Sea of Textures images in Pineapple Punch and Tranquil Tide…

…and adhered some Balmy Blue Tranquil Textures DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love a collage card – maybe y’all have figured that out about me?? 😉 – and this Sea of Textures and Under the Sea framelits bundle just begs to be used for that kind of card!  I hope you like and that this one is high up on your wish list for June!! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

Well, as I type this on Sunday morning, it’s raining.  And the temeprature is dropping again.

So…pretty much Spring in GA!

80, sunny and gorgeous one day – and chilly and wet the next!

Of course, it’s also why everything is blooming and turning green – so…it is what it is!

On Friday, which was an “80, sunny and gorgeous day”, we (Finny and I) cleaned out the horses’ water trough.

Definitely one of Finn’s favorite barn chores!

He really puts his whole self into this one!

  1. Such a beautiful card and such a wonderful respite.

  2. Fun last night. Great video and lovely card. Excited to be able to order this bundle soon!
My favorite part of the collage is the net, but the total look is fabulous.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – the net die is awesome! Glad you were able to join us last night!! Thanks, Julie. 🙂

  3. Awesome card Mary! Love your layering and your collage card. Perfectly designed. And Finn…he’s all about helping…helping to get your feet wet, helping to splash water around. You know, the really useful king of helping. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – he’s a lot of thrust and no vector! Thanks much, Amy! 🙂

  4. Pat

Mary, this card is beautiful, I love everything about it. Yes, this bundle is at the top of my list when the new catalog comes out.
Crazy weather here too, woke up to snow today!
Finn is quite the farmhand. Maybe he could make an appearance on one of your upcoming videos?

  5. Kate

Nice card although being reached out to (for?) By an octopus might hive one pause…
I think you helper might be playing in the water, but I could be wrong…

    • Kate

Really have to relocate the lost stylus…finger typing too fraught with typos…😕

    • stampsnlingers

I think you’re spot on! But – nice that “work” is “play” for him, yes?? Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  6. Eunice Stoneman

I watched your not-quite-instant replay and really enjoyed seeing the creative way you put all those pieces together to make this totally awesome card. I’m not good at collage cards, but will have to try again after watching you do it. It is so nice to have a helper that is willing to get his hands (or feet) dirty helping out, no matter how mundane the job is.

    • stampsnlingers

It surely is, Eunice. Thank you so much – and do give collages a try! 🙂

  7. What a fabulous sea-themed collage! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you very much, Amy! Appreciate you leaving a comment! 🙂
