Stampin’ Up! Oh So Succulent Vertical Greetings

Mornin’, y’all!  By the time you read this, my bachelor days will have come to a close.  😔

Oh wait, I mean… 😁

😏
I’m happy for Friday, cuz that means it’s almost Sunday – and our Amy’s Inkin’ Krew “in person” team meeting! All of us in the area get together up at Amy’s and we eat lunch and do a little business and then we make a few cards!  And we have an awesome good time! And this time, I get to meet my newest Critters-N-Creatin’ Krew team member…Julie Johnston!!  Whoo-hoo!  We’ve talked on the phone, but never met in person!

That’s the fun thing about being in Stampin’ Up! – you don’t have to live near your Upline!  We get together each month via Google Hangout (a video chat!) in addition to our quarterly lunch get together.  So… if you’re interested in joining my team, don’t be put off if you don’t live in GA!!  I’d love to have you in my Krew! And this is simply the best time of the year to join – but time is drawing short.  So…scroll down for the details, and give me a holler!  I’ll get you all hooked up! 👍😎

My card for today marries some older and some newer stamp sets.  I went to the Annual Catalog and pulled out Vertical Greetings, then paired it up with the Oh So Succulent stamp set and matching Succulent Framelits.  Take a look-see!

My sketch and flowery theme comes from the challenge over at Sugar Pea Designs.

And my color scheme is from the Color Throwdown this week.

I started out by making some “designer” paper from a panel of Whisper White card stock.  I used several flower images from the Oh So Succulent stamp set.  The colors I used were Elegant Eggplant (outline of larger flowers) and Wisteria Wonder (fill in for the large flowers), the smaller flowers are outlined in Old Olive and filled in with Pear Pizzazz.   The tiny flowers are stamped-off-once Elegant Eggplant.  Then, I matted the panel on Old Olive.

Next up, I adhered a new Lace Doily, white side up, with some Liquid Glue.

My sentiment is from Vertical Greetings.  I inked the stamp up with Versamark Ink and stamped a strip of Wisteria Wonder card stock, sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it with my Heat Tool.

For the art panel, I used my Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker to ink the tree trunk and the Old Olive Marker to ink the flower pot, then stamped it on a piece of Whisper White.

For the “topiary”, I stamped the Oh So Succulent flower in Elegant Eggplant on a piece of Whisper White card stock, then used the second stamp image to fill it in with Wisteria Wonder.  With my Pear Pizzazz marker, I added some shading to the ends of the petals, then I cut it out with the matching die from the Succulent Framelits.  I stamped some little…bubble??…flowers – outlined in Old Olive and filled with stamped-off-once Old Olive and cut them out.  Finally, I cut some hang-y down pieces from Wisteria Wonder card stock.

To put it all together, I SNAILd the panel to an Old Olive mat, then used some Liquid Glue to adhere the embossed sentiment.  Then I adhered the bubbles and hang-y down flowers with Liquid Glue.  I wrapped a few loops of Linen Thread behind my succulent with a Glue Dot, then popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  At that point, I got the idea to pop the flower pot up, too – so I inked it in Old Olive and stamped it on a piece of Whisper White, fussy cut it, and popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I popped the whole art panel on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card front was done.

On the inside, I simply added another So Succulent flower in the center of a Whisper White panel.  I stamped the outline in stamped-off-twice Elegant Eggplant and filled it with stamped-off-twice Wisteria Wonder.

I SNAILd the panel to an Old Olive mat and into a Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done.

The front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope got another full strength Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder Oh So Succulent flower – shaded with the Old Olive marker…

…and I added some Elegant Eggplant flowers to the envelope flap, too.  If you look closely you’ll see that I double stamped each flower – shifting the second image just slightly.  Just for fun!

Et Voila!  I love the Succulent Garden suite and I love the Vertical Greetings stamp set – so this is a perfect marriage for a card for any occasion!  Hope you like!

FINN-FAN FIX….

So – y’all know that Finn has an older “sister” that lives nearby, right?  She’s about a year older than he is – same mom and dad.

The two of them are a study in the difference between boys and girls.

I’ll let the picture just speak for itself, shall I?! 😳

Dirty, grubby and lovin’ every minute!

  1. My Inbox was boring until this nifty card appeared. I never would have thought of this but I do have all the ingredients. I’ll see what I can do with it today and make one for a masculine birthday and CASE yours for a woman we met 9 years when we were RVing. We still keep in touch and get to see each other at least once a year even though we no longer RV. I think she’ll really like her card. If I love yours, how could she not like mine? Have a great weekend with that handsome, dirty dog…no, I’m not talking about Wayne 😉

  2. Elisha

Beautiful card! Brilliant combination of stamp sets (sadly I have neither)! It is remarkable how much they look alike – the freckles are a bit different – and yea – the dirt😂

    • Get ’em, get ’em, Elisha!! Quick! And yes, they do look a lot alike! I’ll have to let Finn stay hubby to tell them apart when we have playdates! 🙂

  3. Ellie Peckler

What a stunning card, Mary. You are so talented! Have a great weekend. – Ellie

  4. Oh, that’s awesome Mary! Love the colors and your design is fabulous! Perfectly created. 🙂

  5. Kathleen VanDeVeere

    Beautiful card. Love the eggplant.

And, as we used to believe,…oh, and even say…Viva la difference!!!

  6. Kathy L

You’ve used two of my favorite stamp sets! Vertical Greetings doesn’t get nearly the attention it deserves, and the succulent stamps are wowsers [even though y’all keep calling them flowers, instead of plants, which they really are…sorry, my pet peeve 😉 ] Love your color combo, too. I don’t know how you find the time to make these beauties day after day, especially with that grungy young boy demanding your time. lol

    • Ha – I suspect I disappoint him a lot! He ends up having to adjust his expectations – and I bet he sometimes wishes he’d been adopted by a sheep herder. Or at least someone with a few ducks that need to be kept in line! 🙂 Thank you so much, Kathy! I am a fan of Vertical Greetings, too! And…sorry. I’ll try to remember to call them “plants”! 😉

  7. Love your “plants” on the Vertical Greetings set! Beautifully done! Colors are so vibrant!
