Stampin’ Up! Oh So Succulent Hello

Good morning, y’all – if you’re coming from Amy’s blog this morning – welcome!  If you’re one of my regulars – welcome back!  I appreciate all y’all taking a moment out of your day to spend a little time with me!

My card today uses one of my very favorite things in the Occasions Catalog – the Succulent Garden Suite!  And I pulled from the Hello You Thinlits and some super pretty Sale-A-Bration Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper for my sentiment (which is something you’ll be able to get for yourself – for free! – starting on Tuesday!)  Take a look-see:

I used a fun little sketch from the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge this week…

And the gorgeous color scheme is a result of this beauteous vase from the Color Throwdown challenge!

Is it pretty?  And it’s in “my” colors, too – if I was a buyer-of-vases, this is definitely one that would be finding it’s way into my house.

But then I’d have to dust it.

So – I’ll stick with the picture!  And my card!

I started with a Very Vanilla card stock panel and lightly flicked the edges with Crumb Cake ink, using a wedge of sponge.  Then I began to build my Succulent Garden!  I started stamping the medium and small flowers in the Oh So Succulent stamp set – stamping the outline images in Marina Mist and Mint Macaron.  To fill them in, I used the opposite color on the fill-in image, stamping it off once before stamping the card.  Although, as you can see, I did one flower with full strength Mint Macaron.  Cuz…why not??

I made use of the sticky note masks I’d made – and kept! – for a previous card, so that I could have some flowers in front and some in back.  For the little brown succulents, I used stamped-off-once Chocolate Chip ink for the outlines, and Crumb Cake for the fill in.  Finally, the “grasses” are Marina Mist outlines and Mint Macaron (full strength) fill in.

I added some Crumb Cake little tiny flowers – that’s a cute little image in the Oh So Succulent set – stamping each image once and then moving the stamp ever-so-slightly and stamping it again without re-inking, to create a softer, sort of blurry image.

These are easy to do, folks – just make plenty of the sticky notes masks (and keep them handy in your stamp case for next time!), take your time, and move the masks around as you need them.  Keep building and adding flowers until you’re happy with it! 🙂

I adhered a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon across the card front with some Liquid Glue.  My sentiment is cut with a die from the Hello You Thinlits – I cut two from Chocolate Chip card stock and one from the new (next Tuesday!!) Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper, and stacked them up with Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered them over the burlap ribbon.  I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and the card front was done!

On the inside, I flick-sponged the edges of another Very Vanilla panel with Crumb Cake.  In the middle, I stamped a sentiment from Oh So Succulent in Mint Macaron and then I added some flowers in the corner.

I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and into my Chocolate Chip card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a repeat of the inner-liner Oh So Succulent flowers on the front…

…and then I added a Mint Macaron design from the Succulent Garden DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This color scheme…with this stamp set…is…wow! – and smack dab in the middle of my comfort zone!  I love the sort of antiqued, rustic look of the card, with the subtle bling of the Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper!  Hope you like!

FINN-FAN FIX….

Need to brag on my puppy a little bit!
The other day, when we went to the vet for “the incident” – he felt good.  No side effects whatsoever.  Just wanted to set the baseline for y’all!
He rode calm and cool to the doc – waited for me to tell him he could get out of the van, and walked nicely into the office.
Where there was a dog laying on the floor while his mother paid the bill.  OMG OMG OMG!!
But – he minded and came back (mostly!) to heel.  Then he sat and waited with me.  Mostly.
I mean….IT’S ANOTHER DOG, MOM!!
We went and sat down and he laid down between my feet when I asked him to.  And then the tech came and called his name.
We had a short discussion about who-is-the-boss-of-him (not the tech!) and he laid back down.
And here’s the fun part.  His little wiggler was going about a million rpm – and so was his left hind leg!  You know how they do when you scratch that spot on their belly?  Yea – like that.  So here he is, laying down, head on the floor, tail a virtual blur and this leg just going to beat the band.
I’m a little ashamed to say that we were all laughing.  I hope he was laughing, too, so that it was with him and not at him!
Once we got in the exam room and the tech left….

finn-chillin-at-the-vet
Figured he might as well get a little snooze in while he waited!
My kinda dog!!
I surely do love this little turd-knocker!! 🙂
