Stampin’ Up! Chevron Jar of Haunts

Good morning!  We’re half way thru the weekend and I have a tired puppy!

We had our playdate with his Aunt Scout and Aunt Maggie yesterday.

Maggie’s the non-Aussie there in the middle.  She was the calming influence.  Scout and Finn….not calm.  At least not at first.  They ran and ran and chased a bumper and rolled each other around in the grass.  There was a lot of body blocking going on.  Scout outweighs Finn by a bit right now – she won’t for long! – so he did a lot of the rolling!  Give him a minute, though, and he’ll be giving as good as he gets!

They finally had to take a break.

Apparently his feet were hot! 🙂

By the end of the playdate, we were able to get them to hold still together.  Check this.

That’s Scout on the left.  Don’t they look practically like twins? 🙂

We had such a good time – it was a gorgeous day and a lot of fun.  I hope – and I know Finn does, too – that we’ll be doing that on a regular basis!

When we got home, the puppy crashed.   Hard.  For about an hour.  During which time, I made y’all a card!  This one used the Jar of Haunts stamp set and some Brights Designer Paper.  Take a look-see:

My layout was inspired by the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Challenge #259:

fms-259-sketch
And I used the inspiration photo from The Card Concept challenge #60:

tcc-60-sketch
I made the chevron card front by cutting strips of Old Olive paper from the Brights Designer Series Paper stack.  Each strip is one inch wide.  I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to my card front size of 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ and then used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the strips to the panel.  I left a slight gap between each strip to mimic the ribs in the pumpkin.  I have no idea what the gap is – I used the highly scientific TLAR method.  TLAR – That Looks About Right.  Y’all need to add that technique to your kitbag if you haven’t already! 🙂

Once all the strips were in place, I trimmed the excess and then SNAILd the panel to a Crushed Curry mat.

My horizontal elements are made from 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and Kraft Rope Trim.  I used Liquid Glue to add the three pieces to the card front.

For my art and sentiment, I went to the Jar of Haunts stamp set.  I stamped the wonderful pumpkin image in Pumpkin Pie ink on Whisper White card stock, and added the stem in Soft Suede.  Using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to pick up ink from the ink pad lids, I colored the pumpkin in Pumpkin Pie, the stem in Soft Suede and the leaf in Old Olive.  Then I cut the pumpkin using a circle die from the Circles Layering Framelits die set.

The sentiment, also from Jar of Haunts, is stamped in Cajun Craze.  I adhered the sentiment circle to a Crushed Curry scalloped circle mat and then used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the Kraft Rope Trim.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I used another couple of strips – thinner this time – of the Old Olive Designer Series Paper and adhered them (with that TLAR gap again!) to a Whisper White panel.

I SNAILd the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Pumpkin Pie card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added another of the Jar of Haunts pumpkins…

…and used some Pumpkin Pie Designer Series Paper to cover the envelope flap (yes, I ran out of Old Olive paper!).

Et Voila!  I think I captured the chevrons and the pumpkin theme of the concept card – and I kind of like how my card front turned out.  Of course the Jar of Haunts pumpkin remains one of my very favorite pumpkin images!  Hope you like!
