Stampin’ Up! Pop of Christmas Pineapples!

Hey, y’all!  Welcome to the week!  Hope your weekend was good – we welcomed Fall.  No kidding, thinking-it-might-be-time-to-switch-from-shorts-to-jeans, easy breezy, raining leaves Fall!  We’ve got the windows wide open to air out the house.  No one has started burning leaves yet, so we can even keep them open at night!  The grass will start to die off so the girls will be able to lose their much-hated grazing muzzles soon.  Even Bo is feeling perkier than his 27 years!  It’s wonderfully wonderful!   It’s the time of year that makes summer and winter worth putting up with here in Georgia!

As a result of the arrival of Fall, I made a card with…pineapples.

Yea – there’s totally no correlation…

Just Us Girls was doing a Trend challenge – pineapples – so I decided to play along!  I pulled out Pop of Paradise and the Pretty Pines Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

Although I don’t normally, I re-used a design sketch that I played with last week – Freshly Made Sketches #257:

And, as I mentioned, the Just Us Girls challenge was Trend Week #364:

When the Pretty Pines thinlits first came out, someone left me a comment asking if she was the only one who thought the pine cone die cuts looked like pineapples.  And – given the right context – she’s right!  So when I saw the pineapple trend, I decided to try to create that context!

I started by SNAILing a piece of Warmth & Cheer DSP to a piece of Basic Gray card stock.  Next I cut some pineconesapples using the Pretty Pine die and some Delightful Dijon card stock.  I dry fit them on a piece of Whisper White card stock, so I could find the right place to stamp the next part of the design.

Then I pulled out the pineapple stamp from the Pop of Paradise set.  I put tape over the body of the pineapple and inked up the leaves in Emerald Envy.  I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp three of the leaves onto my Whisper White panel.  Then I cut two short Pretty Pines pine boughs from Crumb Cake.  I assembled the pineapples by adhering the pine boughs with Liquid Glue, then the center pineapple.  The other two pineapples are popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from Pop of Paradise in Emerald Envy at the bottom of the panel, then SNAILd it to a Basic Gray Mat and onto the card front.  Finally, I tied a bow with a piece of Emerald Envy and Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I layered a piece of the Warmth & Cheer DSP on Basic Gray and SNAILd it to a Whisper White panel.  In the center, I stamped the pineapple from Pop of Paradise.  I used my Delightful Dijon and Emerald Envy Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp directly.  Then I stamped off once before stamping my card.

I SNAILd the panel to a Basic Gray mat and into my Emerald Envy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added two more Pop of Paradise pineapples to the front – these are full strength…

…and then spruced up the envelope flap with a little more Warmth & Cheer DSP.

Et Voila!  Some pine cones masquerading – pretty successfully, I’d say! – as pineapples!  Who knew they could be so versatile?  Hope you like! 🙂
