Stampin’ Up! Totally Trees Thank You Notes and Gift Box

Good morning, ya’ll, on this three-day weekend!  Hope you’re dry and getting ready to have a great Holiday!  We are supposed to have some nice temperatures this weekend – tv weather just said the morning temps should be in the high 60’s!!  Whooooooo-hoooooooo!!  I hope I feel the need to have a little shiver!! 🙂

For today, I went back to the new Totally Trees stamp set.  This is another one that I’m really loving – it’s got so many possible combinations to fuel your creativity!  I used the set to make some little, tiny thank you notes, so I borrowed a little sentiment from One Big Meaning, too.  I made a bunch of them, and also took a quick minute to make a custom gift box to hold the little notes.  Take a look-see:

If you look, you’ll see that I added a couple of leaves, from the Vintage Leaves stamp set, cut with the Leaflets Framelits dies!  When you open the box, the inside reveals 10 little note cards and matching envelopes.

Now for the bad news! 🙁  The little tiny square Envelopes I used are a retired item from Stampin’ Up!  I needed little thank you notes, though, and I had them, so….made sense to use them, yes?  You could easily adjust this design to work with a regular A2 sized card or a larger square card, or use this size card and make your own envelope!

I started by stamping my little card front – a 2 5/8″ square piece of Whisper White card stock – with two of the bare branch tree images from Totally Trees, in Soft Suede.  Then I added my leaves.

I used the Baby Wipe technique again – and this time, I used a little idea I learned on a video somewhere.  If you already know/knew this, please just smile and nod and mentally say “thanks, Mary, the entire stamping world knows this trick, but…hey – thanks for getting with the program!”  The trick is what I did with my Baby Wipe – instead of laying it on my silicon mat, I laid it inside an empty stamp case.  Then I dropped my drops on in, and inked up my stamp.  When I was done for a minute, I snapped the case shut and it kept my wipe moist until I needed it again.  And – it was all neatly contained inside the case!

I know!  Amaze-balls! 🙂

So, the colors I used were Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Cherry Cobbler.  I inked up the leaves image and stamped each tree.  And snapped my case closed.

The ground image from Totally Trees is stamped in Crushed Curry that I stamped off once before adding it to the card.  I added a few Cherry Cobbler birds, too.

Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I added the little sentiment from One Big Meaning in Cajun Craze across the bottom.

I SNAILd the card front to a Cajun Craze mat, then wrapped some new Pumpkin Pie/Black Baker’s Twine from the Halloween Night Baker’s Twine combo around the panel.  I wrapped it twice and secured it in the back with a little scotch tape.  Then I tied a little bow with the twine and adhered it with a dab of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

Remember, I made a bunch of these.  Which means a bunch of little tiny bows!  Hardest part of the whole thing for me! 🙂

On the inside, I added another Soft Suede tree.  Then I opened up my stamp case to my still-moist-and-ready inked up baby wipe, and added some more leaves.  One last little Cherry Cobbler bird finished it off.

I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final piece of the card was to add the tree and bird images to the front of my little 3″ Square Whisper White envelopes.

I made the gift box using the instructions in my Card Gift Box Tutorial.  You can see that here.  Since I had much smaller – and square! – note cards, I changed up the measurements of the card stock, but the technique is identical!

For this box, I used Cajun Craze card stock for the bottom of the box, and a piece of Halloween Nights DSP for the top.

I made a custom tag to match the note cards inside.  This is just a 2″ wide piece of Whisper White card stock, punched at the top with the Scallop Tag Topper punch and on the bottom corners with the Project Life Corner Rounder punch.  I made the trees, ground image, sentiment and bird exactly like I did on the note cards!

To add a little more interest, I stamped two images from Vintage Leaves, using my baby wipe for my ink pad, on Whisper White card stock.  I cut them with my Leaflets Framelits.

I used more of the Halloween Night Baker’s Twine to wrap the box, added the leaves and the tag, and then secured it all with a double-bow!

Et Voila!  The design would work on any size card and envelope, I think.  And, since you can make boxes of any size with the tutorial, you’ll be all set!  And Totally Trees means that you can totally customize your trees (see what I did there?) – heck, you might could even make Truffula Trees!  Which you might want to try if you ever need to send a card to Dr. Seuss! 😉
