Stampin’ Up! Weather Together Rainbow

Hey y’all – it’s Tuesday, 2 Aug – and you know what that means, right??  Yup – today’s the day you can get the great new Thoughtful Branches stamp set and the matching Beautiful Branches Thinlits.  Get them separately – or better yet, get them as a bundle and save 10%.  AND – if you got those Bonus Days coupons last month – you can reduce the price even further! That’s right – it’s time to spend what you earned!  They expire at the end of August!! 🙂

You can also snag that other new stamp set – “I Stamped This” – a great set full of images that let everyone who gets one of your beautiful creations know that you made it with your very own hands – and a lot of love!

There’s more info – including pictures! – down below.

For today, though, I have a card that was a special request.  My friend needed another Get Well/Encouragement card – for a dog lover.  And a Labrador Retriever lover, more specifically!  So I pulled out a few fun Stampin’ Up! sets – My Hero, the new Weather Together bundle and the fun Over the Rainbow stamp set.  Then I added a non-SU! labrador stamp.  Take a look-see:

Weather Together Rainbow Lab 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
The inside is completely different – wait till you see it! 🙂

I started the front by heat embossing a bunch of the raindrop image from the Weather Together stamp set.  Before I could do that, though, I had to build my dog and umbrella, so I’d know where to put the rain!

The umbrella is from the My Hero stamp set (this is the 2016-2017 Ronald McDonald House Charity stamp set).  I stamped it in Night of Navy on Whisper White and used the umbrella die from the Umbrella Weather Framelits to cut it out.  My lab is stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink on Whisper White and then fussy cut.  I arranged the umbrella with a handle from Weather Together (stamped in Night of Navy and cut with the handle die in Umbrella Weather) and the dog and laid it on my Whisper White panel.

Weather Together Rainbow Lab 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I stamped the Weather Together raindrops in Versamark ink all over the card – avoiding under the umbrella – and then sprinkled it all with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I heated it up and had raindrops!

To color the Whisper White card stock, I used one of the new Sponge Brayers and colored the entire panel with Marina Mist Ink.  I wiped off the raindrops to restore their whiteness.  Then I sponged Island Indigo ink around the top of the panel and down the sides a little ways – you know, to make a dark and stormy night!  I double matted the panel, first with Smoky Slate and then with Island Indigo.

Weather Together Rainbow Lab 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers
My clouds are all stamped in Smoky Slate ink – on Whisper White and Smoky Slate card stock – and cut with the cloud dies from Umbrella Weather Framelits.  While I was at it – I cut out a bunch of raindrops in Whisper White and Smoky Slate – with the raindrop cutter-outer die in…yep – Umbrella Weather!

And then I…

Glued…

Each…

One…

On….

Approximately 3 bazillion of them. One at a time.  With my tweezers and little smears of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

Persnickety indeed.  But – I think it added a lot of depth and texture to this card front.

Please tell me you think so, too…. 😉

With that done…finally!…I colored the umbrella handle with Smoky Slate in the handle and Real Red on the grip and threaded it thru the lab’s little feet.  I used a little Liquid Glue to adhere the umbrella to the handle and then popped the combination on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  To ground the image a little, I sketched in some…well…ground...under the dog with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.

Weather Together Rainbow Lab 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers
The clouds are adhered with Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I decided the umbrella needed a little oomph – so I cut one of the umbrella borders with the Umbrella Weather die from some Real Red and glued it to the edge of the umbrella.  Then I added a Night of Navy Solid Baker’s Twine bow and a teensy little Gold Foil heart that I punched out with my Heart Confetti Border Punch.

Weather Together Rainbow Lab 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Awww – look at that face! 🙂

On the inside, I went opposite the bad weather of the card front.  To start with, I stamped the sentiment from Weather Together in Night of Navy in the middle of my Whisper White Panel and added the black lab again in the bottom corner (complete with bow and gold heart).  Then, I enlisted the help of the Over the Rainbow stamp set.

Weather Together Rainbow Lab 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I stamped the sun from Over the Rainbow in Daffodil Delight – then I made a sticky note mask of the sun.  With the image covered, I added three swaths – in pretty non-traditional rainbow colors – Tangerine Tango, Elegant Eggplant and Garden Green.  The flowers across the bottom, from Weather Together, are stamped in Island Indigo and Daffodil Delight.  Then I used my Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers to make some grass and stems.

The panel is matted first on Daffodil Delight – to match the idea of a brighter day! – and then on Island Indigo.  I SNAILd it all into my Night of Navy card base, popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

Weather Together Rainbow Lab 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Basic Black Archival Ink lab, and some Weather Together flowers on the front….

Weather Together Rainbow Lab 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers
…and added some more flowers and an Over the Rainbow sun in Daffodil Delight on the back.

Weather Together Rainbow Lab 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Et Voila!  Perhaps not the least-persnickety card I’ve ever made, but I’m really happy with how it turned out!  And really, if I hadn’t gotten the cra-cra idea to add all the raindrops….it wouldn’t have been persnickety at all! 🙂  I hope that the Weather Together Bundle will make your list of “must haves” – it’s got lots of potential for cards to folks who just need a little lift!
