Stampin’ Up! Always an Adventure for Christmas

Well, it’s Hawmp day again!  Week’s almost over – gotta love a 4-day week, huh?

Things are quiet here on the wild animal front.  Well….Duck-Duck isn’t quiet.  Ever.  She was a bit flustered this morning.  Don’t know what got into her, but she met me at the barn and gave me the what-for for the whole time I was there.  Actually came all the way in to the barn to tell me all about it.  Whatever it was.  I may never know!  Once Wayne got there and we sat down, she settled a bit.  And then came and stood in front of us and groomed.

And groomed.

And…groomed.

And then – once every feather on her considerable body was fluffed and primped and rubbed and perfect…she stood in front of us and…balanced. On one leg.  I don’t know why.  Cuz I don’t understand “goose”.

But, I gotta say she’s funny as all get out.  And I spent a lot of time laughing like crazy at her grooming rituals! 🙂  And if I can ever figure out how to get a video from my phone into this blog – I’ll let you see it, too.

But – on to the card for the day!  My friend out in California is retiring this month.  Which means that the next time I have to go out there for work, he won’t be there.  He’s been my friend and my rock for every single event we’ve done out there.  It’s going to be pretty hard without him – and I’m going to miss him.  But I’m happy for him and want to send him a card.  Not a sappy one – just a fun one.

His new home is a log house on a lake in Wisconsin, so I wanted an outdoor theme – and the Outdoor Adventure Framelits seemed like the way to go.  I used a few other sets, too – like the Host set called Time of Year.  And the Labeler Alphabet.  And the Hearth & Home Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

I know – kind of a surprise!  But – this one came to me when I saw The Paper Players theme challenge #302:

I let the Stamp, Ink, Paper challenge #55 help me with the layout.

I started out by SNAILing some of the super pretty music paper from the This Christmas Specialty DSP to a mat of Cherry Cobbler.  Then I wrapped a piece of Very Vanilla 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  I used the border die in the Flourish Thinlits to make a Cherry Cobbler strip, which I adhered over the ribbon with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  It actually took one strip and a little bit more to get all the way down the side.

Then I SNAILd a second piece of the This Christmas DSP on Cherry Cobbler and SNAILd it to the card front.

Using the Hearth & Home Thinlits, I cut a window frame from Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Then I built my little “scene”.

Using the Outdoor Adventure Framelits, I cut some Chocolate Chip mountains, some “snow” from more of the music paper in This Christmas DSP, and three sets of trees from three different green papers in the This Christmas DSP.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them oh-so-artistically onto a little square of Night of Navy card stock.

Then I SNAILd that square in place on the card front, and mounted the Cherry Cobbler window frame over the top with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The large sentiment is from the Host set called Time of Year.  I stamped it in Garden Green on Very Vanilla and cut it with the new Bunch of Banners Framelits.  I used a little bit of Stampin’ Dimensionals and some Liquid Glue to adhere it to the window frame.

Then I made the second part of the sentiment using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set, stamping the letters in Garden Green and then fussy cutting the words.  I stuck them onto the window with Liquid Glue.

I added a Cherry Cobbler dot from the Regals Enamel Shapes and the card front was done.

On the inside, I went to my Wild About Flowers stamp set and stamped the sentiment in Garden Green on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Then I added some more Cherry Cobbler Flourish Thinlit border across the bottom.

I SNAILd it to a Cherry Cobbler mat and into my Very Vanilla card base, and added a few more Cherry Cobbler Enamel Shapes.  Then I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card was done!

The Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a few trees from the Always an Adventure stamp set, in Garden Green…

…and added a little more of the This Christmas Specialty DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  For my friend – Christmas came in July this year!  He’s embarking on the next adventure in his life.  So… I think a Christmas-themed card is perfectly appropriate, don’t you? 😉  Hope you like!
