Stampin’ Up! Pretty Kitty Hello!

Good morning, y’all – I hope you had a great – and safe! – holiday weekend!  We certainly enjoyed our day with our friends – eating some ribs and potato salad and watermelon.  And homemade strawberry ice cream sundaes!  Mmmm!

Speaking of watermelon….even Duck Duck and the ponies got some!  Duck Duck dove into her corn and Duck Crumbles as usual – but then took a little break to eat some lettuce we’d given her.  And to work on the watermelon.  She kept moving from treat to treat.  It was a veritable Goose Feast! 🙂  What a country!!

In the vein of Mary’s Ongoing Wild Kingdom Adventures…we have a squirrel.  Well, actually, we have about a gazillion squirrels.  One in particular though, seems to be getting a little big for his little furry britches….

Hummer feeders down - Stamps-N-Lingers
A few days ago, I looked out the kitchen window and saw one of my hummingbird feeders was missing.  I finally located it about 30 feet from the tree it was hanging on.  This morning, I looked out and both feeders were on the ground.  Little fart-knockers!

Sorry I said Fart on the internet….

I replaced the nectar, and Wayne hung them up with chains.  We’ll see….  grrrrr!

Finally – and if you’re squeamish about snake pictures…..loook awaaaaaaaayyyy!

Mr. King Snake - Stamps-N-Lingers
Mr. King Snake is back!!  Or maybe Mr. Rat Snake.  I’m not sure of his actual heritage – just that he’s one of the good guys!! SNAKE SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:  Please don’t kill these guys!!  They keep the not-so-good-guys away!  Really!!  I was so glad to see him this morning (except their little ribbon-y selves do make me cringe just a little!).  Now we just have to really watch for him, so we don’t run him over accidentally.  Barn mice – your days are numbered!!!  🙂

That’s the end of the Wild Kingdom for today.

Now – a few of you asked to see the card that I’d decided to not blog yesterday.  So….I’m going to show it to you.  If it makes you laugh outright, please don’t tell me.  If you have a 5 year old that you’re pretty sure could have done better – yea.  Don’t tell me.

Thoughtful Banner Snowman - Stamps-N-Lingers
The concept was good – my execution just….wasn’t! 😉

Okay – finally!  On to the card for today.  This one is a little note-card sized card – and I used the Pretty Kitty stamp set.  And the new Layering Circles Framelits.  Take a look-see:

Pretty Kitty Hello 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I played along with two challenges for this one.  The first drove the design – Mojo Monday Challenge #455:

MM 455 Sketch
And my color palette come from the Can You CASE It color challenge #127:

CYCI #127 Sketch
I used Dapper Denim, Tempting Turquoise and Pear Pizzazz for my three colors.  Plus White!

I started by cutting my layers.  I made each of the colored mats and then cut the corner out with the 2 3/8″ Straight-side circle die in the new Layering Circles Framelits.  I stacked the Pear Pizzazz and the Tempting Turquoise mats together and cut the quarter circle.  Then I fussy cut the Tempting Turquoise circle a little larger to make the 1/8″ edge.

Pretty Kitty Hello 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I laid my stacked mats over the top of my Whisper White card base (without sticking everything together yet!) and then used my Basic Black and Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the Pretty Kitty stamp (coloring the stamp directly).  I used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to align my stamp onto my stacked card, getting his little paws right on the cut-out edge!  I used the Markers to touch up any spots that didn’t stamp well.  Then I colored the flowers – Tempting Turquoise, Dapper Denim and Pear Pizzazz – using the Stampin’ Write Markers.

At that point I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere my two colored panels together and added the “frame” element from the sketch with my Simply Scored board.  With that done, I used a little more Liquid Glue to adhere the whole thing to my Whisper White card base – making sure to line the Pretty Kitty elements up!

Pretty Kitty Hello 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I wrapped a length of Dapper Denim 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon around the top of the card – making the “seam” in the front.  Over it, I used Glue Dots to adhere a small bow to cover the seam.

The sentiment banner is a piece of Whisper White, matted on Pear Pizzazz – with both pieces bannerized with the Banner Triple Punch.  I stamped the Pretty Kitty sentiment in Dapper Denim.  Then I stamped some Pretty Kitty flowers, using the marker-to-stamp technique to color the part of the image I wanted, and the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line it all up.  I colored the flowers with Pear Pizzazz, Tempting Turquoise and Dapper Denim.  I even added the little butterfly in Dapper Denim.

Pretty Kitty Hello 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I popped the banner on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and added a little heart from the 2016-2018 In Color Enamel Shapes.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I repeated the mat layering with Pear Pizzazz and Tempting Turquoise.  I added a Whisper White layer, that I’d repeated the scoring on – using the same basic pattern as I’d done on the front.  I also added a few more of the Pretty Kitty Flowers, and a length of Dapper Denim 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon across the top, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  Then I SNAILd it inside my card base.

Pretty Kitty Hello 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers
For the Whisper White envelope (the one that comes in the Notecards and Envelopes set), I added more Pretty Kitty flowers…

Pretty Kitty Hello 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers
…and I added some Subtles DSP paper in Pear Pizzazz to the envelope flap.

Pretty Kitty Hello 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Et Voila!  I think this little Pretty Kitty stamp set is just so cute!  And I really like how she looks peeking over the edge of the card.  I hope that you like it was well!

  1. Sweet little kitty card! The colors are just perfect and I love that she’s peeking over the corner. 🙂 Although, I must confess that I almost didn’t get to see it…that snake picture nearly made me close your blog page!!

On your hummingbird feeders…that’s probably raccoons. We’ve had trouble with that before and typically when they’re hauled away from the house, it’s the furry bandits that have done it. 😉

    • I want to get a night-vision game camera to put on them. If nothing else, I think it would be entertaining to watch them solve the problem! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Mom

No 5 yr old I know could have made your snowy card! And the note card is a keeper…or a sender…or…
    Anyway it’s a good ‘un.

Squirrels are rascals…they will surely eat your birdseed. I think Amy is right that maybe a coon actually stole it.

I am now convinced that y’all want me to stay in Colorado!!! I get it about the good snake/bad snake
thing, and I get the mice control thing too. I don’t want to see any of them. Ever. Anywhere. No way no how nada zilch.

  3. Nope. We want you to come here! Mr. King Snake is a shy fellow. I had to take a picture as proof that he’s even around! You’d likely never see him. Thanks, Mom! 🙂

Oh how cute is that little kitty, Mary?! I love that you put it in the flowers, like it is stalking the recipient. Thanks for playing along this week with Can You Case It! – Kayla

  5. Love the sentiment and the kitty peeking out the corner! Thanks for joining CYCI 🙂 Eva

  6. Judy

I love your site you do fantastic cards and share your animal kingdom thank you

  7. Love how you did the layers and the little kitty peeking over the edge. So cute! I agree with Amy on the feeders, probably raccoons! They did that to my cat food container. twisted the top right off and took it out to the yard a ways!

  8. Amber

I love all the wild goings on in your neck of the woods-sounds exciting! And that cute little kitty card is adorable, Mary! Thaks for joining CYCI this week! ~Amber

  9. Mary, I LOVE this card! So cute. I love the peeking kitty! Thanks for joining us at CYCI! Jeanne

  10. What a sweet kitty peeking out on your mojo card! Thanks so much for joining us at Mojo Monday!

  11. Thanks, Wanda! 🙂

  12. I actually love both cards! Remember, not your cup of tea, it is someone else’s! Something like that. I was going to ask you how you made this card. It’s so stinking cute. What child wouldn’t love to receive a card like this? I’m 65 years young, I’d love one like this! I refuse to grow up

  13. Oh – that’s a very sweet thing to say! The basics of the card: I stamped the splat image from Touches of Texture inside the Woodland TIEF – in Night of Navy and Real Red. Then I embossed the Whisper White panel in the TIEF. That transferred the images onto the card stock. The snowman is just a few circles from the new Circles Layering Framelits – I hand drew his parts. Fussy cut a hat. And then used Silver Sparkle Dazzling Details to add my “snow”. Thanks so much for asking! 🙂
