Stampin’ Up! Live, Love, Grow!

So….guess what day it is?!? 😉

Yep.

You know it!

HAWMP DAY!!

And – it’s almost the end of June.

Which means two things:

  1. The Stampin’ Up! June promotions (Extra Stampin’ Rewards AND Two Free stamp sets for new recruits) are ending…in a blink! and…
  2. It’s practically Christmas!

Yes, you heard that right.  You’re going to go to bed tonight and then it’s going to be…like…Christmas!

Okay.  Maybe not quite that quick, but….not too far off.  Next thing you know I’ll be sending out the 2016 Holiday Catalog! 🙂  Watch for more on that.

On to today’s card.  This one uses the pretty stamp set called Live, Love, Grow.  I love the images in this set!  And then I added a few butterflies from Papillon Potpourri! Take a look-see:

Now, I played along with two challenges for this one.  The first one, RetroSketches #220, was the loose basis for the layout.

Then I used the Stamp Ink Paper challenge #54 for my color palette.

I started with a Very Vanilla panel and first stamped a little bit of “dirt” for the bottom of my terrarium….in Crumb Cake.  This is a fun stamp set – almost all the images are two-step, including the dirt.  Once the Crumb Cake was dry, I rubbed it with my Embossing Buddy, inked the “pebbles” image in Versamark and stamped it over the Crumb Cake.  Then I sprinkled it with Copper Embossing Powder and heat embossed it.

Then I planted!  Each of the images is two-step.  From left to right….I first stamped the “fill” image in Old Olive – after stamping it off once on scrap paper.  Then I stamped the outline image, also in Old Olive, full strength.  The next, smaller succulent, I stamped the fill image full strength and then the outline in Basic Black Archival Ink.  Finally, the third image I did in the same way as the first – but with a twist.  I wanted this one to be a little shorter so I could lay it down and have it look like it was “escaping” the terrarium dome.  So I laid some scotch tape over the stamp and only inked up the part that I wanted.

Once all the ink was dry, I inked the Live, Love, Grow dome image in Versamark and stamped it at an angle over the plants.  Then I sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up. To make the bottom “solid”, I filled it in with my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker.

My butterflies came from Papillon Potpourri, and I stamped two in Tangerine Tango and one in Daffodil Delight.  I also stamped them on scrap Very Vanilla and punched them out with the Bitty Butterfly punch.

Before I added the punched out butterflies, I did a little work on the background of the card front.  First I sponged the edges with Old Olive.  Then I stamped two of the plant fill images all over – each time, I stamped off THREE times and then stamped the card on the fourth go – without re-inking.  Then I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to add each of the butterflies to their matching stamped butterfly.

I SNAILd the card front to a piece of Tangerine Tango DSP and then to a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock.  To add a little more texture, I wrapped a length of Old Olive Baker’s Twine and Copper Metallic Thread around the panel three times, and secured it in the back with scotch tape. Then I added a bow – one length of Old Olive Baker’s Twine and two of Copper Metallic Thread – with some Liquid Glue.

The Live, Love, Grow sentiment is stamped in Tangerine Tango on Very Vanilla and a banner end fussy cut.  I edged it with my Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.  A Daffodil Delight heart from the Brights Enamel Shapes pack finished it off – and some Pearl Basic Jewels on each butterfly body completed the card front!

On the inside, I repeated the matting of a Very Vanilla card stock.  Then I added an Old Olive plant, using the stamped-off-once fill and full strength outline – and a Tangerine Tango butterfly from Papillon Potpourri.

I SNAILd it into an Old Olive card base, popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the Old Olive plant…

…and a custom flap in Tangerine Tango DSP.

Et Voila!  I’ve always thought these glass domes – cloches, if you will! – are so very elegant.  And would look so lovely on a countertop in a bright, open farm kitchen.  But – so much easier to take care of in the stamp/ink/paper form, yes??  Be sure to snag this pretty stamp set for yourself!  And “garden” to your heart’s content. 😉
