Stampin’ Up! Petite Pairs Smiley Face Thanks

Good morning!  It was an absolutely gorgeous day here in Atlanta – and we spent the day doing a little spring prep!  For the past couple of years, we’ve done Square Foot Gardening.  Have you heard of that?  Well, it’s a great way to grow lots of veggies and flowers in a not-so-big-space.  My wonderful hubby built me a few raised 4′ x 4′ beds the first year that I did this….

Well, they’re starting to be a little the worse for wear, so it’s time to rebuild.  This time we’re using plastic pallets for the bases (we used wooden pallets the first time) and, since we’re building the sides with Trex, I think they’ll last for years! Whoo-hoo!

But, even in the midst of picking and choosing and finding and loading our new plastic pallets…I was designing a card in my head.  I’m a multi-tasker that way!  I’d seen a card that Brian King did a while back that had rainbow colored smiley faces on it – and I’d wanted to use that idea.

So I did.  But, I put a little twist on it – and it’s so easy and quick, you can knock this out in a heartbeat!  I used my 7/8″ Scalloped Circle punch, my 1″ Circle Punch, some card stock and Designer Series Paper Stack Backgrounds….and the fun little Annual Catalog Set called Petite Pairs.  Take a look-see:

Now, I can’t ever remember the colors or order of the colors in a Rainbow, so I Googled it (yes, that’s a verb!).  And there’s all sorts of memory joggers and songs and mnemonic devices – but basically its Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet.  I interpreted that my way…

I started with a long and skinny card, and decided to use a double mat.  So I SNAILd a panel of Basic Black to a panel of Basic Gray card stock.  For the card front itself, I used a piece of Whisper White card stock.

Each smiley face is made exactly the same way.  I punched a piece of the appropriately colored card stock with my 7/8″ Scallop Circle punch.  Then I pulled out the matching color Designer Series Paper Backgrounds (in Brights, Subtles and Regals) and punched a 1″ Circle.  I used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the card stock scalloped circle to its corresponding 1″ Circle.  Then I used my Signo White Gel Pen to give them all a smiley face – deliberately making them all different!

The colors are – from left to right….Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Marina Mist, Pool Party, and Wisteria Wonder. 🙂

I laid them out in a curve, setting it up so that I could put my Petite Pairs sentiments on each side of the line.  I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp each sentiment in  Basic Black Archival Ink.  Then I adhered all the smiley faces with more of the Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

I SNAILd the panel to my double mat and then added a little Rhinestone Basic Jewel next to each sentiment.  And the card front was done.

On the inside, I just stamped another Petite Pairs sentiment in  Basic Black Archival Ink in the center of a Whisper White Panel.  Then I drew a little Melon Mambo smiley face with my Stampin’ Write Marker.

I matted that onto Basic Gray and then onto Basic Black card stock panels and then SNAILd it into my Whisper White card base.

I popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I made a custom envelope with a piece of Whisper White Envelope Paper.  I’ve got a Tutorial for you on how to use the Envelope Punch Board here!  I decorated the front with little smiley faces – drawn with my Stampin’ Write Markers in the same colors as my rainbow smiley faces…

…and I used the same markers to make smiley faces all over the inside flap!

Et Voila!  A fun, colorful card that’s beyond easy!  I hope that you like it and will try one of your own!

Please keep in mind the Online Host club and let me know if you’d like to join.  I’ve still got some room!
