Stampin’ Up! Friends, Flowers and Party Pants Birthday!

Good Monday to y’all – did that weekend just fly by or what?!?  I hope that you had a chance to rest in addition to those pesky gotta-get-’em-done-before-Monday things that might have been on your list.  And maybe even do something fun!

My card share for today is a quick and simple one, that uses the fun new Occasions stamp set called Friends & Flowers.  This one is kinda cool, because it coordinates perfectly with the Festive Flower Builder Punch – remember that one from the Holiday flyer?  The one that made the cool Poinsettias??  Like this one right here!  So I combined that stamp set with some paper from the Have a Cuppa DSP stack….and some other little fun things from the new Sale-A-Bration set called Party Pants – and this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

I used two challenges this week to inspire this card.  The first is Color Challenge #331 from Just Us Girls.

And the second is a Clean-and-Simple Theme challenge.  The Paper Players #283 is what made me think about balloons! 🙂

I hope you’ll go check both of these sites out when you get done here.  Challenges are great inspiration for cards – and we’re very grateful for those talented folks putting them out there for us to use each week!

I used a Whisper White Note Card as the base.  The “water” is a Bermuda Bay piece of the Have a Cuppa DSP Stack (yea, seems weird that I could use a tea party stack for the “ocean” – but it works great!).  All I did was cut it shorter than my card front, and then I used my 1 1/4″ Circle Punch to randomly punch across the top to create the waves.  I SNAILd that to the bottom of my Whisper White card front and … Done! 🙂

The fish is stamped in Tempting Turquoise – and is one of the cute little images in Friends & Flowers.  I punched him out with the Festive Flower Builder Punch.  To make his tail, I stamped one of the small double images in Tempting Turquoise on Whisper White and punched it – again with the Festive Flower Builder Punch.  I cut that piece in half and used a little dab of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to make them into tail fins!

Then I popped my completed fish under the waves with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The sentiment is from Party Pants (a brand new Sale-A-Bration item that you can get FREE with a $50 product purchase), stamped in Night of Navy below the fish.

For the balloons, I punched three small balloons using my Balloon Bouquet Punch – in Night of Navy, Tempting Turquoise and Bermuda Bay card stock.  On the Tempting Turquoise balloon, I stamped “Woo Hoo” in Night of Navy – it, too, comes from the Party Pants set.  Finally, I used my Signo White Gel Pen to add a little curved line to each balloon – to give it the feeling of a rounded object.

On the bottom of each balloon, I used a little dab of Liquid Glue (on the back!) and adhered a short length of Silver Metallic Thread.  Once they were dry, I adhered the balloons to the white portion of the card front.  The Tempting Turquoise balloon – with the sentiment – is popped on with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  The other two with a little more Liquid Glue.  Then I pulled the balloon strings down and into the fish’s “mouth” – sticking them in with my Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  Hope there’s no hooks there! 🙂

I SNAIld the card front to a Night of Navy mat and added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewel “bubbles”.  And that was it for the front!

On the inside, I repeated my “waves” using another piece of the Have a Cuppa DSP stack.  Before I stuck it down on a liner of Whisper White, I stamped the fish in Tempting Turquoise.  Then I SNAILd the waves over top of him and trimmed the sides with my Paper Snips.

I SNAILd the panel to a Night of Navy mat and then into the inside of my Whisper White Note Card, popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

For the matching Whisper White Envelope, I added three little fish faces to the front – one in each of my colors…

…and then added a liner with the very last bit of my “waves” paper – cutting it (a little short!) with the correct sized die in the Envelope Liner Framelits.  Man, I just love that die set!

Et Volia!  An ocean-y blue clean and simple card.  I think it’s perfectly reasonable that a turquoise blue fish would be carrying three balloons.  That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it! 🙂

Tomorrow’s Tuesday – so that means if you haven’t availed yourself of this week’s Weekly Deals….best get on it!  Check back to see what’s new – and to hear about my Online Host Club that will be kicking off soon.
